  1. Winners are Barty (Yarra) & Mertens (Gippsland). Both profited from walkovers in SF :coffee: But it gets worse, Grampians final between Kontaveit and Li has been called off due to schedule delays. This is peak WTA shitshow. No way anyone takes them seriously, as equal to ATP and all that nonsense. They bailed the players introducing super tie-breaks in the third set during the week and still couldn't get the job done. This has been a total failire of AO Series experience. Top players tanking, fishy withdrawals and no final played to put the icing on the cake

  2. Several top players withdrew at the QF or SF stage, S.Williams (obviously she only cares about Court's GS record), Osaka, Azarenka, Halep probably faked a lower-back injury. This WTA AO Series is a complete mess.  The finals are Barty vs Muguruza (Yarra), Mertens vs Kanepi (Gippsland) and Grampians is still at SF stage.

    I don’t know :dunno:

Maybe they’ll change it to the “Sochi Grand Prix” at some point.

Good luck with that belief. There's obviously one other answer, WADA & CAS have completely dribbled themselves out of bounds with their punishment campaign against Russia. First they banned athletes from taking part in Rio 2016 OG (Maria Lasitskiene being the prime example) then they suddenly switched to "we won't punish the athletes but the state" which was supposed to protect integrity (lost cause based on Lasitskiene being baned from Rio but eligible for Tokyo) and yet here were are where they keep the name of the state itself as Grand Prix venue despite banning a driver from this country to be called as coming from this state.

This is just one total mess piled onto another. First they punish the athletes then they go back and let them compete but ban the state flag and ever words to describe them. Like F1 World Championship doesn't even have a medal system and nations classification to begin with! You don't get any medals here and nothing for finishing second in the final standings. The only prize is money. Hell, some teams even have the right to collect the single Grand Prix trophies from their drivers because they are won by the team itself, not by a driver and least of all by the nation he represents.

One final thing, the ban on the word "Russia" ends on December 16th, 2022. The World Cup final is on December 18th, 2022 (third place match probably the day before). What if the Russian team makes the final four (unlikely but still probable). They play the entire tournament as "Neutral Football Team from Russia" but then play as Russia in their last game? :p  This ban is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

It’s not like there aren’t a bunch of vocally pro-Putin Russian NHL players playing for American teams.

Also almost nobody in America knows who Mazepin is or what Haas F1 is :P

NHL is a domestic league so isn't eligible for the CAS ban. Russian NHL players will indeed remain Russian NHL players.

Yeah, America knows more about Kyle Larson using racial slurs but I hear he's back to some driving so his "ban" was way shorter than whatever happens to the word "Russia" in terms of Mazepin :p

My guess would be that it has to do with the FIA being a WADA compliant international federation. I’m not 100% certain they are, but they are a member of the GAISF. Also, racing is a sport, so technically speaking, drivers are athletes.

How do you explain Russian Grand Prix being able to remain as Russian Grand Prix despite the word "Russian" being BANNED by WADA & CAS? :mumble:

I’d rather they get rid of Mazepin (to be replaced by Kvyat or Shwartzman) than the Russian flag...

It's hilarious that :RUS Mazepin competes for the US team in Formula 1   Hilary Clinton must be in WTF mode. I hope Joe Biden doesn't revoke Gene Haas' nationality over this :roflmao:

Btw, Shwartzman can use the :RUS flag because Formula 2 doesn't have World Championship status :coffee:

It would be funny if we got rid of the flag, but only in threads about the Olympics and World Championships :p

Thankfully CAS doesn't run TO or else that would probably happen. I hope you see how idiotic this "ban" really is. I wonder what kind of crap CAS pulls in December 2022 when the ban ends. Will we be able to say "Russia" again? I'm not so sure....

  8. The CAS bullshit continues. :RUS Nikita Mazepin is no longer a Russian in F1 either.

    https://au.sports.yahoo.com/mazepin-set-race-under-neutral-210448317.html

So, you can't use the words "Russia" and "Russian" but you can use the wording "Neutral athlete from Russia" :roflmao:  Like who calls F1 drivers as F1 athletes in first place?

But of course the Russian Grand Prix will remain the Russian Grand Prix because somehow CAS can't enforce the ban on that name?

And obviously they can't ban the spectators from bringing the Russian flags to the stands :coffee:

    16th December 2022 can't come soon enough!

  9. Nikita Mazepin won't be allowed to race under the :RUS flag during the next two seasons based on the CAS verdict.

I really hope this flag nonsense ends after the 2022, how long they can pretend Russia doesn't exist as a country? They busted people in cc skiing, biathlon and athletics and yet here in F1 we can't have a Russian driver. What's gonna happen with the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi? Will that be taken away or forced to run as "Neutral Athletes" Grand Prix or what?

I'm shocked the :RUS flag hasn't been banned from TO yet :p

  10. Shocking turn of events as SB LV will be broadcasted live on Polish TVP Sport :yikes: Commentators will be some guys I chat with on twitter since the NFL community is damn small anyway and we don't have any gridiron expert journalists to begin with. Last time Super Bowl was live on Polish TV was 1995 (since I watched that game myself :p ).

And if governments decide that people should be more masculine or feminine

I thought Das Reich was mostly gone :p

I doubt there's a government in the world that would like to see their country best known for sugar pop music crap :p

  12. The Yemeni Civil War will continue for many years to come so it's no wonder Biden doesn't want to spend more US taxpayers money. Moreover Yemen supported Saddam Hussein back in the 80s and 90s so USA has another reason to watch this country burn to the ground.

  13. Yeah, I wonder if a US Senator said Lee Harvey Oswald was only a puppet and CIA really killed JFK would Democrats try to remove such a person from Congress? :p

However the Democrats payback is very much on. They will find every reason to remove an elected person from Congress if neccessary IMO.

  14. The Guardian is a left-wing newspaper but probably more supporting Lib Dems than Labour Party these days. They absolutely roasted Jeremy Corbyn for his Labour leadership. And they had the courage to admit they were completely fooled by the WikiLeaks which was once seen as the new oracle for all the liberal supporters. I see The Guardian as #1 source to find out what the liberals are getting excited about :p I've given up on Newsweek and CNN :coffee:
