Women's Long Jump Tyra Gittens - 6.96m https://results.flashresults.com/2021_05-13_SEC/041_Scores.htm She achieved this standard in her PB-setting heptathlon where she also jumped 1.95m in high jump and was only 2 points shy of the Olympic in heptathlon. Men's High Jump JuVaughn Harrison- 2.36m https://results.flashresults.com/2021_05-13_SEC/033-1_compiled.htm He has also jumped 8.45m in long jump earlier this season. His jumping series in this competition was truly impressive:

  8. I wonder if all those involved so much in NOlympics movement (even before covid) could have ever created anything important and valuable in their lives by themselves. Or they are only good at saying 'no' and 'cancel it all'.

  9. During Zygmunt Szelest's Memorial in Warsaw Michał Haratyk achieved 22.17 in shot put which is the best result in Europe in this season and fourth best in the world. Also Paweł Fajdek wins hammer throw competition with 78.67 which is the best result in Europe in this season too and second best in the world.

  10. covid-19 beat hockey last year cancelling all tournaments and this year the lower divisions were cancelled again. Teams from Division I A (Especially Slovenia) said a big: Enough is enough ! and decided to organize a replacement tournament using the same IIHF WCh rules (anthem only of winner of the match after the game etc..), format of 5 day matches round-robin and scheduling like a "normal" division I A tournament. Other teams accepted (remember, these teams are also preparing for August Olympic qualifiers, so they need matches like this) only Hungary and S. Korea sadly withdrew, so Poland and Ukraine from Division I B were invited to replace them and both agreed.

  11. I think she's 34th in the ranking, she needs to be in the WCh Top15 at the very least to have a chance to qualify.

  12. It's IndyCar mate, I'm basically always watching! (with rare exceptions for races deep in the night) And what a day to do it, exactly five years (15 May 2016) after Max Verstappen's first F1 win! What a race. Smart pitting and very, very strong riding by Van Kalmthout, the only small mishap was the moment in the grass due to a little slippery conditions, but he kept his head cool after that.

  13. He’s had some injury problems as of late, and his run at the Golden Games wasn’t totally convincing to me. Of course, that was an early season mark, so it’s hard to really judge where he’ll be in a few weeks/months time. I still think he’s an incredible athlete with a decent chance at a medal. BVI have Chantel Malone as well. She did win a gold medal in the long jump at the 2019 Pan American Games, but she’ll need to improve that mark by around half a meter or so to be in with a shot at a medal.

  15. I can understand that the Arabs were not willing to accept the division of the country. If members of a different people came to our land, basically telling us: 'We claim half of this land (which was to approximately 90 percent owned by Arabs in 1948), because we were persecuted elsewhere and because this is our holy land and we lived here 2000 years ago, so make way for us and seek your luck somewhere else.', we probably wouldn't accept it either. If the Europeans are responsible for the situation (and I do believe they are historically those mainly responsible for the existence of this conflict), then they should have been the ones making way instead of dividing the country without involving those people affected into the decision.

  19. I hate it so damn much that the starts matter on the K4 race because they were stupid enough to cut the distance in half. And then they did the same thing for men's K2 and men's C2, so we will only have two 1000m events for Paris. At this rate we won't have any 1000m races by 2028.

  21. France won a boat quota at the 2019 World Championships due to reallocation, but because Etienne Hubert also competed in the K2 1000m where France also won a quota they didn't win an athlete quota so the athlete quota was then reallocated to Spain (declined due to too many men's kayak quota) and then Argentina. So basically, France must compete in the men's K1 200m, K1 1000m and K2 1000m, but can only select three athletes.

  25. I have no clue whatsoever what's going on. ICF better explain this "administrative error"... This news is one day old and the only reason I know about it because the Hungarian commentator mentioned it at the World Cup. Only the French and Norwegian media reported on it, I couldn't find anything from ICF.

  26. women's karate, kumite, -61kg, Alexandra Grande could upset the main favourites and take a medal... they also have a good Skeet specialist in shotgun shooting (3rd in the last world cup, this week), but I fear he's not qualified to the Games, I should check...

  34. Oh, well familiar with those douchebags. They raise valid points about the negative aspects of Olympic hosting that don't get highlighted, particularly in a place like Los Angeles which is probably the best example of how a city can host an Olympics and not go deep into debt. Those guys need to find a better hobby though. Make the case against potential hosts that have no business hosting an Olympics. Ask for reforms to the IOC and to the Olympic movement that are desperately needed. But at the end of the day, do better than to make this another case of cancel culture where you're trying to destroy something because you don't like it.

    [OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

#1 clown in the world (or maybe #2, we had a guy suggested injecting disinfectant) Mahmoud AN registered himself for the next month election. while because of the coronavirus he was supposed to bring just 1 person with himself, he brought an army! (who cares about COVID anyway, just lots of people die everyday) a group of his supporters (less than 100) spent a week next to his house, finally "convincing" him to go register to "save" the country. (I don't know if I should laugh or cry) in a normal country he should be in jail or a mental hospital by now. ho ca

  40. Apparently, Ellie Downie chose not to go to Tokyo. She was a contender for a vault medal and the current World bronze medalist on the apparatus. Her brother passed away last week. He was only 24. Becky Downie will still participate at the British trials in June. Poor girls. They are so strong, each in her own way.
