That’s why they must be imprisoned & excluded from elections. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-57166735 I only want to comment on the Catalan part. There were/are 3 main political blocs/parties in the Catalan separatist movement: the ERC, PDCat (later became JuntsperCat and so on) and the CUP. From these, the CUP are literal anarchists, so definitely very very ultra left. ERC is a left nationalist party, apart from their separatism, some of their politicians regularly criticize the mainstream left (such as PSOE) for not being left enough. And the PDCat albeit it was a centre right party, their main goal was (2017) to push for separatism and not to “oppose the left”. Moreover, in 2017, among the mainstream national (not regional) parties in Spain there was no real left-right split about the attitute towards Catalan separatism, if there was a party which had any understanding towards the separatists, it was the radical left Podemos. And the more to the right a party was in national politics there more it rejected Catalan separatism (the radical right Vox party launched its political prominence by attacking the centre right for not being tough enough on the separatists) So to sum up, to say that Catalan separatism can be characterized as a “rightwing” movement “opposing the left”, and in the other hand, those who oppose the separatism as some kind of “left” is both politically and historically incorrect

Exact same thing with Slovenia & the Baltic Republics thirty years ago.
Monzanator 3,611 Posted May 26, 2021 #8183 Share Posted May 26, 2021 Wait, isn't Catalonia viewed as the politically left-wing part of Spain? So how does the left-wing central government view them? As far-left or right-wing? Something doesn't add up here or am I missing something? Unless they still play the extinct Republican card and pull out the anarchists crap? Even if it means jailing them. Monzanator
