  3. I think you're right, if we have a place Pereira will play with Melo or Soares (probably Soares, who has a good record in Mixed Doubles). Brazilian tennis confederation has entered a total of 7 athletes for the Olympics Games. Except for Melo/Soares in Doubles, and Bellucci/Pereira in Singles, others will depend on invites and/or withdrawals. They are (and possible events): Thomaz Belluci: Men's Singles/Doubles (with Sá) Bruno Soares: Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles* (with Pereira) Marcelo Melo: Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles* (with Pereira) Teliana Pereira: Women's Singles/Doubles (with Gonçalves) and Mixed Doubles* (with Melo or Soares) Not yet guaranteed: Rogério Dutra Silva: Men's Singles Paula Gonçalves: Women's Doubles André Sá: Men's Doubles

  6. Just booked my flight to Rio Arrival at 9AM Saturday 6th, and departure at 3PM Monday 22nd. Due to a lot of changes in my previous schedule because of work and other stuff, I had to resell a lot of tickets, losing some precious events. Now that everything is right regarding accommodations and flights, I can finally try to get some of these tickets back (although is highly unlikely that I will get back the Volleyball ones). As of now, I have tickets for 21 sessions, as follows*: Aug 6th 15:30 - 16:30 Shooting (SH011) Men's 10m Air Pistol Final Aug 6th 17:00 - 21:15 Field Hockey (HO003) Women's Preliminary Round ARGENTINA X UNITED STATES Men's Preliminary Round SPAIN X BRAZIL Aug 7th 11:00 - 20:00 Tennis (TE007) Men's and Women's Singles, Doubles First Round Aug 8th 12:00 - 16:00 Basketball (BK011) Women's Preliminary Round SPAIN X UNITED STATES CANADA X SERBIA Aug 8th 17:30 - 20:00 Rugby Sevens (RU006) Women's Placing 5-8, Finals Aug 10th 09:00 - 12:55 Archery (AR011) Men's and Women's Individual Eliminations Aug 10th 15:30 - 19:20 Beach Volleyball (BV014) Men's and Women's Preliminaries Aug 11th 12:30 - 16:00 Canoeing Slalom (CS005) Men's C2 Semifinals/Final, Women's K1 Semifinals/Final Aug 11th 15:30 - 19:30 Basketball (BK028) Women's Preliminary Round FRANCE X BRAZIL JAPAN X AUSTRALIA Aug 12th 09:30 - 13:00 Handball (HB019) Women's Preliminaries ANGOLA X BRAZIL SWEDEN X NETHERLANDS Aug 12th 19:30 - 23:30 Water Polo (WP016) Men's Preliminary Round GREECE X BRAZIL SPAIN X FRANCE SERBIA X AUSTRALIA Aug 13th 07:30 - 16:00 Golf (GO003) Men's Round 3 Aug 13th 14:15 - 16:00 Basketball (BK037) Men's Preliminary Round ARGENTINA X BRAZIL Aug 15th 09:00 - 11:40 Marathon Swimming (OW001) Women's Swimming Marathon Aug 15th 14:40 - 18:10 Handball (HB029) Men's Preliminaries FRANCE X DENMARK SWEDEN X BRAZIL Aug 16th 13:00 - 15:00 Football (FB032) Women's Semifinal Aug 17th 15:00 - 16:30 Gymnastics - Gala (GG002) Gala Gymnastics Aug 17th 22:00 - 01:10 Beach Volleyball (BV033) Women's - Bronze, Gold Finals Aug 18th 20:30 - 22:30 Handball (HB040) Women's Semifinal Aug 19th 14:00 - 18:35 Modern Pentathlon (MP004) Women's Competition (4 Disciplines) Aug 19th 20:10 - 22:45 Athletics (AT014) Men's and Women's Prelims, Finals *I will update my schedule when I get more tickets.

  10. Same in Brazil. People mostly don't care about NT, but we have a lot of hardcore fans regarding the clubs - especially Corinthians.

  13. Rio 2016 reveals Olympic medals, celebrating nature and sustainability With 52 days until the world’s best athletes go into battle for them, Rio 2016 and the Brazilian Mint have unveiled the medals for the Olympic Games. Bearing a design that celebrates the relationship between the strengths of Olympic heroes and the forces of nature, the 500g gold, silver and bronze medals have been made with sustainability at their heart. The athletes who top the podium in Rio will receive medals made from gold that is completely free of mercury and was produced according to strict sustainability criteria, from mining to the end product. The silver and bronze medals have been produced using 30 per cent recycled materials and the ribbons which will be used to hang the medals around athletes’ necks are made from 50 per cent recycled plastic bottles. The rounded cases that hold the medals were made from freijó wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). A total of 2,488 medals have been produced: 812 gold, 812 silver and 864 bronze. The designs feature laurel leaves – a symbol of victory in ancient Greece, in the form of the wreaths awarded to competition winners – surrounding the Rio 2016 Olympic logo. The laurel leaves represent the link between the force of nature and Olympians. According to Olympic Games tradition, the other side of the medals feature an image of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory with the Panathinaiko Stadium and the Acropolis in the background. The Paralympic Games medals, which feature a special innovation, have also been revealed. They have a tiny device inside which make a noise when the medal is shaken, allowing visually impaired athletes to know if they are gold, silver or bronze (gold has the loudest noise, bronze the lowest). Also revealed at the event on Tuesday (14 June) at the Future Arena in Barra Olympic Park, were the podiums, which are made from organic materials and celebrate the tropical nature of Brazil. The podiums were designed to be reused as furniture after the Games.
  14. As expected, Pedro Gonlçaves will represent Brazil in the K1 event. Previously, the confederation had also confirmed Charles Corrêa and Anderson Oliveira for the C2 event. No word yet on C1, where three athletes are/were contending for the spot.
  15. Brazilian Canoeing Confederation has confirmed that Ana Paula Vergutz will be our sole female athlete in this sport.
