  1. What an absolute monster throw Took me a while to figure out his actual distance because American TV kept showing only feet and parts of feet and parts of parts of feet I was definitely expecting him to break Barnes' record at some point. Not sure I was expecting him to obliterate it
  2. Now that is exactly what I was looking for (the practical point of how to follow this), thanks! Hopefully it works the same this year as last time I'll be keeping an eye on dots and changes and everything.
  3. I was 10 and I had already heard of nandrolone thanks to Edgar Davids I did come across an article from 2001, headlined 'Nobody is so stupid as to take nandrolone on purpose' https://www.trouw.nl/nieuws/niemand-is-zo-stom-om-bewust-nandrolon-te-nemen~bc0413a9
  4. And his first throw of the competition
  5. Everyone booing during Flower of Scotland can fuck right off
  6. Great, make this weightlifting year even worse...
  7. The general feeling wasn't much different here ahead of the 2014 WC....and then came the feared giant Spain in the very first group match, hahahahaha. Spain who?
  8. My only hope for England - Scotland was if it had been in Scotland and we'd hear a full stadium sing along with Flower of Scotland
  9. Rowing and a whole bunch of other sports: https://www.pinnacle.com/en/olympics/leagues You'll see a lot of these sports appear at various bookmakers in the next few weeks, like always in the weeks before Olympics they start coming up with odds for most if not all sports at some point. Some bookie more than others, but big ones like Pinnacle, Unibet or Bwin usually have a very large variety of sports offered.
  10. Interesting, the British eight is mentioned as favourite (slightly ahead of Germany, I must add). More interestingly: Croatia isn't even mentioned in the pairs. They have named three countries for every event it seems (they're the first bookmaker with odds, so I'm sure they're being careful ), and for the pairs those are - in order - Romania, Serbia and Italy.
  11. This is by far the worst day of football so far at these championships, dear lord.
  12. Well....on the bright side, the second half can impossibly get any less interesting than the first one
  13. shouldn't put their toes on the line then, easy
  14. https://olympics.com/en/news/olympics-1500m-faith-kipyegon-tokyo-2020-spot-kenyan-trials And, probably better, Athletics Kenya's Twitter account.
  15. It's nice to know who is overrated, but even more importantly to know who is underrated Milad Beigi in taekwondo had odds of 50+ for Rio, which according to our Iranian buddy on here was insane, and it turned out....it was insane indeed. For those following rowing, which are the clearest actual favourites?
  16. I didn't mean athletes won't go trying this, I mean athlete A reporting athlete B doesn't mean B will be thrown out (as Daily Mail sort of tries to present it), it means there'll be an investigation. Which is not necessarily bad, and also not really a problem for athletes who do stick to the pretty widely reported rules.
  17. FIS has added two tables for 'Next eligible nations' on the page with the quotas. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/v2/quota/list/owg/cc/2022 I don't have experience in following this from last time, so how does that work? Let's say a country rejects two women's quotas today, then Switzerland and Slovenia (current 1st and 2nd on the list) both get one? Or, if a total of 17 women's quotas get rejected by nations (unlikely, I know, but theoretically), Brazil gets a third one? And I am assuming that, in order to keep track of which countries reject a quota, we have to manually refresh this website daily and manually track any changes to see which country has a lower number of quotas than before?
  18. Like with most sports for which bookmakers only have odds during the Olympics (which is a large majority of Olympic sports) Which is also why the Olympics can be a goldmine.
  19. The top one could basically be your regular every day t-shirts hanging in the closet, but the shirt on that middle photo is sweet I fear it'll only be used for football though? Don't even know what that green thing is supposed to be but I'm loving it
  20. I like the one top right! It's a lot better than what Brazil gets in the winter anyway, where it's mostly white with some random greenish/yellowish triangles in some random places (placed in such a way that most of it is covered by the bibs/start numbers ).
  21. Took a look at the first bookmaker with some odds, including for rowing, and apparently the Netherlands has two gold medal favourites (according to them) No idea how realistic that is of course. Women's coxless four and men's quadruple sculls, with two more events where the Netherlands is listed as top-3 candidate. For those interested, single sculls favourites are Oliver Zeidler, with Sverri Nielson close behind, and Sanita Puspure, with Hanna Prakhatsen close behind.
  22. That SEEMS like a TASTY bit of usual exaggeration from the online toilet paper that is the Daily Mail They're presenting it like athlete A can go to the IOC, say "hey, B broke this rule" aaaaaand B gets thrown out. That's not how it seems to actually work.
  23. Ugh. I'd like to see the final remain at Wembley, but making an exception for those 2500 (!) officials, politicians and so on....just because. That's batshit crazy, unless they do have to adhere to other strict rules (which I doubt).
  24. Semis are tonight, final is tomorrow night.
