  1. There are significant restrictions for Danish people yet? I thought all that inside Schengen wasn't so strict anymore
  2. What an absolute cannon ball of a goal I don't think it is possible to hit a ball any better
  3. And the easy goal, too bad.
  4. Russia dives to a free penalty
  5. Well, that needs to be a whole lot better in the next match. Good thing this was against 'only' North-Macedonia, otherwise it'd be done.
  6. Don't forget that also the likes of Hubbard need to train very, very hard. That part doesn't change, and a large majority of people - transgender or not - either can't or don't want to live a life which is basically 100% about their sport and barely anything else. Since the number of transgenders is significantly lower than the number of non-transgenders, one can sort of assume it'd be rare to find someone who is both transgender and willing to dedicate their life to their sport.
  7. I am not necessarily in favour of transgender women being allowed to compete against 'born women', no. I really don't know which solution would be the right one, if a right one even exists. Banning them is unfair, allowing them is unfair, forcing severe hormone treatments is not as much unfair as it is sort of inhumane...it is extremely hard. A solution does need to be found, but the messed up thing is that basically every solution is a wrong one, nothing 'good' is possible in this situation. By the way, I was mostly talking based on what I see in Dutch media (sadly), or the comments there: that is indeed a whole lot of simply shouting "Hubbard competing is bullshit!".
  8. Why are some players so insanely dumb that they manage to get a card for arguing with the referee?
  9. People care about anything they can create drama about. A very tiny portion of the world knows even one weightlifter (and an even smaller portion knows a female weightlifter), but a large part has an opinion about transgenders competing against non-transgender women and a lot of those people don't want to have any discussion about it, they just want to put their fingers in their ears and yell as loud as possible how much Hubbard competing is all bullshit or something. In short: people aren't caring about this being women's weightlifting, they're seeing an opportunity to shout Sadly I can already see it in the comments in Dutch media, where a majority of comments is about how she'll destroy the field (lol) and that's so unfair, let alone the predictable yet rather pathetic comments where people refuse to go with any feminine pronouns, 'because I don't recognize transgenders '. Ugh.
  10. Funny how in the US trials women's 400m finish, it was 100% "screw everyone who's winning, no matter what happens this is about Felix and nobody else" Even if Hayes or someone not as well known had run a world record, they'd not even have mentioned it, focusing on nothing but Felix instead Really cool moment after the race though, with Hayes' and Felix' little kids meeting each other and them four all celebrating together (with Jonathas joining in a minute later)
  11. He'll make his pro debut in a few days.
  12. Barshim in his best days, those times when he jumped near or over 2.40m as if he could literally step on the air His whole style of jumping, it was some of the best bits of athletics I can remember watching, and he did so for quite a few times. I hope he wins, but he doesn't seem to have that 'magic' anymore of his best days..
  13. (From the other thread) I would like to add this for myself in this thread, that'd be an awesome medal!
  14. At least among the bookmakers they weren't that much of a dark horse, not even in the top-10 favourites and tied with Ukraine But yeah, highly disappointing for them..
  15. Because athletes don't equal their country and plenty of people cheer for athletes, not countries. If a wonderful athlete happens to be American, Chinese, Indian or German (or any random country), why on earth would I cheer against him/her just because of which nationality is in their passport? That'd be nonsense.
  16. What a race, both Hamilton and Verstappen were visibly pushing the car well beyond it's limits
  17. Genuine question, is one of these Czechs in the lead group even a pro rider? (like at least World Tour or ProContinental Tour?) I have never heard of any of them, and I've heard of many hundreds of cyclists
  18. The best Czechs weren't interested in the jersey and decided to go for a relaxed ride (if they're participating)?
  19. True, but this rule doesn't really add anything at all. I mean, there's a boatload of other rules to keep people away from each other, those that were planning to break those rules to hook up with someone probably won't be stopped by condoms not being provided. The only difference is that there'll now be a whole lot more unprotected sex against the rules instead of protected sex against the rules, which poses different dangers all by itself. Oh well, at least hopefully a majority of the 150k available after the Games will once again be taken by athletes from countries where these kind of things are hard to get by so they at least find a useful destination (I mean, a Dutch athlete could take one as a fun souvenir, but it's rather easy to get a bunch in normal ways at home, unlike in many other countries).
  20. There will be no condoms provided in the Olympic village during the Olympics, due to the COVID-19 rules. Which is no doubt going to lead to some shits and giggles as reactions, but is actually quite serious....I mean, are they that naive that they think people won't 'find eachother' in the village? There will be 150.000 to take home after the Olympics, which is a tad late.
  21. Ugandan athlete tested positive. Most likely the Olympics will be cancelled now ! https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jun/20/uganda-olympic-athlete-arriving-in-tokyo-tests-positive-for-coronavirus
  22. Oh that would be awesome If I had the power, I'd trade any medal in swimming for a medal for Ikee!
  23. Richardson can seriously attack the WR if she keeps this up....if she can improve her start. Her start is so slow (relatively speaking, of course), yet she ends up with such fast times...I think there's at least a full tenth to be gained there, if not more.
  24. Wow, Richardson was lucky to not get DQ'ed from her 10.64 (wind-aided)....her cocky finish nearly made her step into the lane next to her before the finish I hope (but doubt) she'll sort of humble down a little on the way to Tokyo
