  1. Do the downhill commentators really never understand how certain things work? Athlete A has a great run, but makes a huge mistake somewhere which costs at least 2 seconds (but still he has the fastest time). Athlete B closes in on the part where A made a huge mistake and is a second or so down, after this part he is nearly a second up. This is obvious, since A lost 2 seconds there and so it'd be weird if B did not make up a huge chunk of time. However, the commentators didn't see this coming at all: "HE'S A SECOND UP, HE HAS TURNED IT ALL AROUND!! UNBELIEVABLE, WHAT IS HE ON?1!!?!" I like the commentators in general, but this total screaming at perfectly obvious things comes across a little....dumb Anyhow, Troy Brosnan with the win in yesterday's downhill. He is B in this story, Thibaut Daprela was A Amaury Pierron made a return after his broken back with a third place.
  2. That was not much of a great level in the women's final, but the Netherlands was a little less bad than Germany and so took the deserved but not very convincing win
  3. So then what was the team event about people were posting about here last night?
  4. Last evening's posts make me confused, I don't see anything about a team event on Wikipedia but everyone here was talking about team events and draws between countries and such Is Wikipedia missing something (rare) or what's up?
  5. Damn, Stevenson (a regular -78kg) against a French lady who's at least 40kg heavier, if not 50kg What a format
  6. Starting with a girl fighting a Ukrainian who is like three times bigger..
  7. Netherlands with the C-team, I guess they're accepting the loss already and so are like 'why bother'
  8. Oh, weightlifting Yeah, no quota or medal in any sport A is going to make up for anything in sport B. Maybe for general fans, but definitely not for the people involved (i.e. the athletes)
  9. That is quite odd, but typical for federations I guess Thanks!
  10. Ah, IJF pretending the team event doesn't exist, isn't that something we saw in previous championships as well? https://live.ijf.org/wc_sen2021/contest_order All empty. No bracket neither, nada. There's a bracket on Wikipedia and live streams planned for today, but come on.
  11. What a massive performance by Khammo in the two repechage fights, first throwing the Finnish guy within 5 seconds and then throwing the Georgian guy all around every corner of Budapest And the +100kg final nearly got a sensational end, too bad Bashaev just could not hold on to the arm lock and hold down
  12. Heavy crash for Felix Rosenqvist in the IndyCar race in Detroit, after apparently his throttle got stuck all of a sudden He was moving and after a good while they freed him from the car. Now let's see what injuries he has, especially the way the nose of the car looked is worrying for his legs.
  13. Always reminds me of the Giro d'Italia directors when they were broadcasting the helicopter images literally showing Wouter Weylandt bleeding to death. They have learned basically nothing, I'm afraid. Doubt it'll be any better in football...unless a streaker enters the pitch or something, because heaven forbids we see a nipple.
  14. And might very well be the man of the match at that!
  15. One can assume UEFA has put some high pressure on them, imagine the money it would cost to move the remainder of the match... (which is not actually important, but it's UEFA..)
  16. Dutch journalist talked to Eriksen's manager, who said he is 'breathing and speaking' (which he, his manager, got from Eriksen's dad).
  17. And Simon Kjaer, in the shock I hadn't noticed, but by reading about it it seems Kjaer secured Eriksen's neck, cleared his airways and started the CPR while the medics were still running towards the scene to take over.
  18. Danish football federation has tweeted Eriksen is awake and is in the hospital for further checks and such.
  19. Absolutely. Illnesses and such, alright, we've got treatments for a whole lot of them. But shit like your heart suddenly stopping or a brain aneurysm, those sudden things which can literally kill you out of absolutely nothing...that stuff is scary man.
  20. If there'd be news of Eriksen being relatively ok, I think the evening match should be fine. Otherwise, I'd doubt it.
  21. Always taking these things with a bag of salt, but then again, why would a Reuters photographer (it doesn't get much more non-sensationalist than that) say something he didn't see..
  22. Hopefully for the day no matter what happens. Not sure you can send these players back out for a fair match even if now they'd get the message Eriksen is conscious.
  23. At least not in the seconds before it, maybe he got a big hit minutes earlier but I don't remember any big hit at all during the match.
