Beautiful goal by Fankaty Dabo of Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie today
It's just a shame it was in the wrong goal, but hey, details

thepharoah reacted to ahjfcshfghb in Winter Olympic Games 2018 Debuting, Coming Back, Returning and Missing Nations
Helmy told me his federation wouldn't let him unfortunately He is now going to try for 2022, which he said is his 'realistic' goal anyways. What has to happen is for a certain number of skiers to actually be active before the Egyptian Olympic body approves the federation. They did just build an indoor ski slope, so it's a start. I said he might be better off representing Algeria or Sudan or something and he said no, it's Egypt or nothing.
As for Jordan I wrote them a couple of additional times, but they haven't replied. Since they weren't on your accreditation list, I doubt be possible for them to compete anyways. But again from their email they seemed 2022 was their objective.
Haiti wrote me back just now after 2 months (lol). And they have a 'secret project'!
Sorry to answer 2 months after your message but sometimes, with new technology, Emails are going in the wrong files.
We are just starting the new season so we pay more attention at this time.
Haiti will probably not compete in the 2018 Olympics. We could have Ski, but our only 2 racers who could have any chance (Benoit ETOC and Celine MARTI www.facebook.com/haitiski ) have difficulties to be present. We planned also to have a new winter sport for Haiti, skating but the Haitian winter spirit is too young to accept that. We have a skater (Maxime Billy FORTIN that took part to the French skating gala one year agowww.youtube.com/watch?v=u4u7qmYzZ58 ), but not the federation until now.
But:
In ski, we have some younger Haitians (until 13yo) that can maybe compete for Haiti. The best and closest goal could be LAUSANNE 2020, the young Olympics game. Then we can have also the skater. And we have also another secret project but we need a lot of money to develop it.
Best regards
Thierry MONTILLET

Meanwhile, in Africa, although nobody cared, something curious happened: Burkina won 4-0 against Cape Verde and Senegal was drawing 1-1 with South Africa. There is still a CAS appeal on going for the original SA-Senegal match that SA won 2-1 that was annulled afterwards. If CAS would overturn FIFA's decision then Senegal would lose those 3 points and with results I mentioned for these last games then Burkina would qualify
Fortunately Senegal scored a goal in the last minute to win 2-1 and avoid what could have been a huge mess for FIFA

It's unfair. Agger now has two teams to support while Dan has none.

I would say you have to be over 25 years old to know who Cuper is... his peak was in the early 00s coaching Valencia to 2 UCL finals and then Inter.

But I'm not satisfied with our coach , he's very old schooled one , even Cuper is much known globally than Renard , but he's always defending and always has the same tactics despite who's the opponent

At least they don't prevent any Israeli athlete from participating , and if USA does this on purpose , how come we consider it a democratic country , and how come we can believe them when they talk about freedom for Muslim countries , so they are only liers if we consider your hypothesis

Former Under 21 Slovak National Team player and former Stoke City center back of Brazilian origin Dionatan Teixeira has passed away at age 25 yesterday in Brazil after suffering heart attack
RIP Dionatan
he was part of our great previous U21 team, his biggest dream was to qualify for Rio 2016
he started his career at 16 in Košice. Long times he was the youngest player who played a match in our championship. more info about him https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionatan_Teixeira

Wydad Casablanca win the CAF Champions League 2017
Walid El Karti scored the winning goal in the second leg, played in Casablanca, the Moroccan club defeating Egyptian Al Ahly 2-1 on aggregate.
Wydad Casablanca will represent Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017; they will face Pachuca of Mexico in the quarter-finals.

Fairy tale of Julian Benneteau continues , as he surprisingly defeated Cilic today in Paris QF , to reach SF in his last tournament , Julian has never won an ATP title in singles , so it'll be fantastic if he can ends his career with a major tournament !

thepharoah reacted to LDOG in Field Hockey 2017 Discussion Thread
Well, the problem with these continental championships (except European div I) is that there isn't video referral, so there'll always be dodgy decisions in goals and/or PCs since hockey is very difficult sport for referees with the tiny ball and the speed of play.
I'm sad Egypt couldn't qualify, it's always good to see new faces in big tournaments and also because South Africa will just be a punching bag at the WC with this current level.

On the other hand, the exact same player should have been sent off like 3 minutes earlier for an insane tackle which only got him yellow, so..karma's a bitch

we have only 1 participant this time , the sport is vanishing in Egypt , actually many sports are struggling after floating currency that the government did last year , it really affected sport badly

thepharoah reacted to Vojthas in Modern Pentathlon 2017 Discussion Thread
Choong and Muir are only ones I'm sure of - their participation is confirmed on PentathlonGB webiste.
Maybe (just suppose) Prasiantsova, who doesn't participate in U24 Europeans, though Belarus sends strong team.
Maybe, they are training normally
As well as Italians
Maybe Schleu, I'm not sure but I think she wrote something about it few weeks ago on Facebook. Schöneborn married not so long ago, but last year Khuraskina came to CISM World Championships right after her honeymoon and won it. They also don't send anyone to U24 Europeans to Drzonków, though this age category is also for Marvin Dogue, Christian Zillekens and Alexandra Bettinelli.
Maybe Özyüksel, there was some competition lately in Turkey, seems like National Championships (unfortunately I didn't check it in details), so they may be training now normally.
No go:
Nowacka, who is on holiday in Balkans. We have this U24 Europeans in Drzonków, so other seniors might come to support their younger colleagues. And all our national team coaches will be there, so probably only Maliszewska might come with her club coach to Doha (but I doubt it, as her boyfriend, Stasiak, will start in her home city and there was no document of selection signed by sports director as it is usually done for the UIPM competition, which is all competitions instead of the only commercial one - Kremlin Cup, and CISM competitions).
Kovács is on holiday in Rome, Földházi seems not to train now as well, she took part in some "BBQ World Cup". Bence Demeter had hip surgery. In fact I doubt any of Hungarians will be in Doha - both "association captains" (they call their main coaches this way in Hungarian) are to come to Drzonków. Though somebody might go either without a coach or with a club coach.
Hefny has some pain and doesn't run - posted on Instagram photo from horse riding training.
Kuf was on some trip in mountains, even if it was part of training, not the kind it should be done few days before competition in the desert.
They had holiday lastly, I think - some of their women's pentathletes posted photos in bikini by the sea in last days/weeks, so I suppose they wouldn't start in a competition without training.
