Serena Williams takes a massive dig at Tennys Sandgren following his resurfaced ‘racist’ tweets

Tennys Sandgren has shot to fame following his quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open. But fame is a double edged sword, something that Sandgren has learnt the hard way, after a tweet of his resurfaced on social media, wherein he had taken a dig at Serena Williams with a distasteful comment.
Sandgren has been criticised heavily for following a lot of ‘far-right figures’ on Twitter and his political alignment.
But apart from that there was this article that he had shared, about Serena abusing Vinci and had tweeted that with the caption that read ‘Disgusting’.

The tennis fraternity went berserk over Sandgren’s tweets, even going as far as to label him as a racist.
Also, the issue was that a screenshot that had surfaced on social media, did not have the link to the article that Sandgren has tweeted, instead it just had Serena’s image with the caption ‘Disgusting’.
Serena responded to the entire controversy in the morning(when Sandgren was on court) by tweeting “Turns channel”.

Sandgren didn’t take the criticism very well, deleting his tweets and firing back at the media during his post match press conference.
“You seek to put people in these little boxes so that you can order the world in your already assumed preconceived ideas. You strip away any individuality for the sake of demonising by way of the collective.” Sandgren said.
Sandgren was visibly livid with the media and wanted that to be put across in his press conference.
“You dehumanise with pen and paper and turn neighbour against neighbour. In so doing, you may actually find you’re hastening the hell you wish to avoid, the hell we all wish to avoid.”
He conceded to the fact that he couldn’t stop people from taking screenshots and distributing content online and thus wanted to start afresh by deleting all his tweets.
“People can screenshot, save and distribute everything they would like to. I know that, and that’s fine. It is what it is. It’s just something that I thought wouldn’t be a bad way to kind of move forward.”
Sandgren was absolutely battered in his quarter-final against Chung, losing in straight sets, but he’ll be hoping that this Australian Open experience(on and off court) will help him becoming a better player and a better person in the future

The final decision was 100 % correct. Well done by the refs (I cannot say anything about the match in general, though).

"For the throw-off at the start of each half (incl. any period of overtime), all players must be in their own half of the court.
However, for the throw-off after a goal has been scored, the opponents of the thrower are allowed to be in both halves of the court.
In both cases, however, the opponents must be at least 3 metres away from the player taking the throw-off (15:4, 15:9, 8:7c)."

    and:

"if during the last 30 seconds of a game the ball is out of play, and a player or team official prevents or delays the execution of a throw for the opponents, in order to prevent them from being able to take a shot on goal or to obtain a clear scoring chance, the guilty player / official is to be disqualified and a 7m throw is to be granted to the opponents. It applies to any type of interference (e.g., with only limited physical action, interfering with the execution of a throw such as intercepting a pass, interference with the reception of the ball, not releasing the ball)."

I have just left 'Qualifier' where I think the qualifier would lose in round one anyway (just not at the men's tournament because there I thought it would be useful, but it wasn't  ), and where I thought the qualifier would win at least the first round, I wrote the name with (Q) behind it.

Australian Open: Bernard Tomic going home to 'count my millions’ after qualifying defeat
Bernard Tomic said he was heading home to "count my millions" after failing to qualify for the Australian Open.
The Australian lost 6-1 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 to Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the final round of qualifying in Melbourne.
It will be the first time since 2008 that 25-year-old Tomic has not featured in the main draw, with Tennis Australia having chosen not to offer the world number 142 a wildcard.
"I just count money, that's all I do," he told Channel 7.
"You go do what I did. You go make 13-14 million. Good luck guys. Bye bye."

The remark echoed his reaction to criticism for a lack of commitment in Madrid last year, when he said: "Would you care if you were 23 and worth over $10m?"
A two-time junior Grand Slam champion, Tomic became Australian number one and reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals as an 18-year-old qualifier in 2011.
He reached the third round at last year's Australian Open, but will fall further down the next set of rankings after this qualifying failure.
Local media have reported he is considering taking part in the Australian version of television show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

He was left out in 2015 after accusing the governing body of abandoning him following hip surgery in 2014, but has since returned to the team.

Tomic's career has also been affected by off-court controversy.
In July 2015, he was charged with resisting arrest and trespassing by police in the United States after refusing to leave a hotel room.
And his father, John, was sentenced to eight months in prison for assaulting his son's training partner before the 2013 Madrid Open.
