  1. Water polo by a country mile... World Championships + World League with top priority, just to remove the possibility of the reigning title holders missing out. Then continental spots. And then the final tournament, where the most spots are awarded at once, and which is organized logically compared to the unrelated groups / home-away match nonsense from handball, field hockey and volleyball... And in the end, each team has four (!) pathways of qualification, so any failure is really and only up to them...
  2. Of course they will say this. The IOC will not be the one to pull the plug. It's all up to Tokyo. They lose money either way, but which one is more preferrable is for the argument.
  3. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/05/05/japan-ioc-olympic-contract/
  4. Good. So a couple of teams capable of staying within a lap in team sprint are back in.
  5. Apparently... Matvei Petrov https://www.gazetatema.net/2021/05/25/gjimnasti-rus-qe-garon-per-shqiperine-kualifikohet-zyrtarisht-ne-olimpiaden-e-tokios/ Russian gymnast who already took an easy way out by switching to Albania... And now he gets a free spot too? For me, this is the biggest Tripartite Commission controversy ever...
  6. Honestly, I can't think of any other sport discipline with so much waiting, and so little action...
  7. And proven correct on the same day. Scholtens withdrew today from the selection trials, and therefore, the Olympics. Last year she had two horses ready. Big victim of the postponement. https://www.eurodressage.com/2021/05/26/emmelie-scholtens-withdraws-desperado-olympic-contention I guess Marlies van Baalen and Adelinde Cornelissen will fight it out for the travelling reserve spot then...
  8. Huh, so apparently keeping your players locked up and playing daily tournaments do help improve your performance...
  9. She is, but presumably she chose to withdraw Cassidy due to his age. Bohemian is her main star right now, but still, Cassidy would have been a better substitute than Vamos Amigos.
  10. Dutch "short-list" for dressage... Minderhoud is listed with Zonik even though he never competed internationally with him and obviously has no MER? Maybe he plans to campaign the horse on back-to-back weekends just before the deadline. My prediction is Edward Gal, HP Minderhoud and Dinja van Liere, with Emmelie Scholtens being the reserve and really the main victim of the postponement... —Marlies van Baalen, 40, and Ben Johnson, 15-year-old KWPN gelding, and Go Legend, 10-year-old KWPN gelding —Adelinde Cornelissen, 41, and Aqiedo, 16-year-old KWPN stallion, Zephyr, 17-year-old KWPN gelding, Fleau de Baian, 11-year-old KWPN stallion, and Governor-STR, 10-year-old KWPN stallion —Edward Gal, 51, and Glock’s Toto JR., 10-year-old Hanoverian stallion, and Glock’s Total US, nine-year-old Hanoverian stallion —Dinja van Liere, 30, and Hermes, nine-year-old KWPN stallion, and Haute Couture, nine-year-old KWPN mare —Patrick van der Meer, 50, and Chinook, 14-year-old KWPN stallion —Anne Meulendijks, 27, and MDH Avanti, 16-year-old KWPN gelding —Hans Peter Minderhoud, 47, and Glock’s Dream Boy, 13-year-old KWPN stallion, and Glock’s Zonik, 13-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion —Denise Nekeman, 27, and Boston STH, 15-year-old KWPN stallion —Emmelie Scholtens, 35, and Desperado, 13-year-old KWPN stallion —Madeleine Witte-Vrees, 49 , and Cennin,14-year-old KWPN stallion —Thamar Zweistra, 38, and Hexagon’s Double Dutch, 13-year-old KWPN stallion
  11. Ouch, Maričić's back must hurt. He carried his team to the bronze medal! Gorša not looking too hot right now, but maybe that's not so bad. Anyways, the home team is finally on board.
  12. Poland wishes. I can't see him obtaining MERs at such high level competitions.
  13. Looking at the events to come, I don't think Oleksandr Prodan will be competing anywhere before Babolna CSI-W (10-13 June) and probably Olomouc CSI-W (17-20 June), just before the cut-off date. At any rate, neither him nor any other Ukrainian rider are entered to compete this week. Same goes for the next week, for now... In eventing, this week's competition in Baborowko will probably decide everything... Especially since Camilla Kruger is nowhere to be seen (and the odds of her reappearance are becoming increasingly unlikely by the day...). As for dressage, Collins had a shockingly poor weekend competition in Portugal. No MER, sadly. Back to the drawing board before Ornago (June 3-6).
  14. Quotas for . Total meltdown for the Italian girl.
  15. Short-list for the British eventing team... Really curious how nobody got listed with more than one horse (except Townend, potentially). Anyway, good luck to anyone trying to select the best 3 out of these. My feeling is that, since there are too many contenders, the final selection will certainly be 'wrong'.
  16. Probably because people had better things to do in 2019 and before.
  17. Our boys dramatically missed out on the team bronze (air rifle). Sad.
  18. And there we have it. Two podiums achieved today.
  19. Question 1: Should national juries consisting of 2-members be allowed the right to opt-in to a voting process that guarantees that a song(s) which receive votes from both jury members will appear in the final top 12 combined list of that nation's votes? (Read above for details of the proposed method). (a) Yes (b) No Question 2: Should there be an option for a nation to co-host the contest with another nation? (a) Yes (b) No Question 3: Should co-hosting be limited to nations with a cultural and / or geographical link? (a) Yes (b) No Question 4: Regarding potential co-hosting, there should be the following restriction: (a) Limited to 2 nations (b) Limited to 3 nations (c) No limit
  20. What is this? Eurovision fans wanted hard rock to win but can't accept cocaine alongside it? Hilarious.
