  1. EDIT: As you can see, no team alternate has been named. And that is simply because there was nobody else qualified. Thailand will probably be the only eventing team in Tokyo which will not be able to make a substitution (if needed).
  2. Yes, they will... Well, this rule was known from the start. Ukraine did everything by-the-book to keep that individual place. But nevertheless, Poland has been really unlucky. First they chose the tougher tournament in Moscow (where they lost to Israel by 1 pen), and then they witnessed Ukraine failing to keep their team spot and taking the individual spot instead...
  3. Ukraine qualified 'manually' (Oleksandr Prodan & Casanova). Link
  4. Wikipedia pages have been, sadly, occupied by a single user who seems to be inventing qualification systems on-the-fly.
  5. 5-time Olympian and Tokyo favorite Ingrid Klimke is out. Enormous blow for Germany.
  6. I'd rather count it under universality, as those spots were only awarded to unqualified NOCs, who then chose the specitic athlete at their own discretion. Very similar to the system used in athletics/swimming (pre-Tokyo).
  7. Well, there is case of Lionel Cox, who qualified by universality, and then performed out of his skin to earn silver...
  8. Not very likely. She would need to out-select at least two of their superstars (McLain Ward, Kent Farrington, Beezie Madden, Devin Ryan). And then there are Laura Kraut and massivelly talented Brian Moggre...
  9. Tim Price and Jonelle Price just need to put NZ on the podium.
  10. + Rio 2016 marathon (when she actually qualified by time)
  11. But then again, max 2 per event was apsurd. Some events are clearly more accessible than others (even more so when the Tripartite nations are concerned).
  12. Had a great experience attending a small open air concert today. Can't even remember the last time I heard music live. Let's just say that the performer very much impressed the Croatian jury and is now an unexpected contender for the Open.
  13. Dumb question, but is it Andriantsitohaina or Andriatsitohaina? Or both?
  14. Disagree. Curling tricked the IOC into including mixed doubles under the pretense of bringing universality. And then all the quotas were grabbed by the traditional powerhouses. FIBA included a small provision to prevent exactly that. If there was something nonsensical in this system, then that would be the ranking points calculation.
  15. Japan participating in the universality tournament would be rather nonsensical, so I am glad they made it out of here.
  16. "Oh... She is quicker than a Kardashian marriage."
  17. Drama in Compiegne. Cathrine Dufour could not convince Bohemian to enter the arena on Day 2. So they were eliminated. And since this competition has no discard scores (same as the Olympics), Team Denmark is eliminated as well, after holding the lead previously. Pretty nightmarish outcome for the Danes... Bohemian is a massive talent, no doubt about that, but damn... Just imagine this incident repeating in Tokyo, right when the medals are being decided... Back to the drawing board with Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and Kyra Kyrklund come Monday!
  18. And that's a confirmation for Arinadtha Chavatanont (and therefore the whole Thai team) as well. PAK/ZIM will be replaced by Austria, and that is it for eventing reallocations, barring any injuries or late withdrawals.
  19. Ugh. Hopefully the States will eat Belarus alive...
