Disagree. Curling tricked the IOC into including mixed doubles under the pretense of bringing universality. And then all the quotas were grabbed by the traditional powerhouses. FIBA included a small provision to prevent exactly that. If there was something nonsensical in this system, then that would be the ranking points calculation.

Japan participating in the universality tournament would be rather nonsensical, so I am glad they made it out of here.
