I said the likes of, meaning it's not just exclusive to Australia and Fiji. Like I said , the post isn't about NZ (or Australia and Fiji for that matter) it's about the development of GB's Men's team and the mistakes we've made which have led to our embarrassing NQ. Anyway I don't know why you've got this agenda that everyone in this forum disrespects NZ when that's clearly not the case.

There's probably an agreement with the Prince to hold a major qualifier there each cycle, hence why the last chance qualifier is always in Monaco.

While pool does have a good representation between NOC's, darts has good representation between NOC in both it's codes (PDC and WDF). The PDC has good NOC representation in it's affiliate tour, with the PDC Asian Tour having half of Asia competing in it each year. The WDF is where you find the largest range of NOC representation, with almost all of Europe and half of Asia represented. And when it comes to something like this, that's the best ranking to use as the WDF is the governing body for darts and unless there's some agreement the PDC and the WDF only the players from that ranking would be allowed to play if the sport were to make it to the Olympics. I can see both sports making it in if they put registered interest as the IOC would see them as an asset to bring in younger and newer audiences, especially with darts.

Actually darts has a solid spread in both Americas and Asia. Americas: USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guyana, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico Asia: Philippines, Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Mongolia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, India, Bahrain, South Korea, Hong Kong, Iran, Macau, UAE Not sure pool has that much strength in depth.

Interesting you chose snooker over other pub sports such as darts and pool. I'm not sure snooker has the NOC depth that pool and especially darts has, which could lead to a massive drop in quality.

I believe you when you say it's gonna be hard and that there's a good chance that we won't qualify, but I wanna see how we develop over the next 3 years before I dismiss our chances as I genuinely believe with more funding, experience and improving players we can start seriously challenging for a quota.

I think you're doing us a disservice here. What we achieved in the space of less than a year is incredible, and with another 3 and a half years to build the team and with it looking likely Water Polo will receive record funding we've got a decent chance at getting a quota. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy or that we're definitely gonna qualify, our best shot is to nab the last quota, but giving us a 2% chance is extremely wrong and dismissive. 30-40% chance is a more realistic percentage.

Given how this qualification period started for us, the outcome has been somewhat of a disappointment as we let a lot of quotas slip. Some of this was down to some of the appalling qualification systems. The GB women's football team were desperately unlucky to miss out. Yes they should've beaten the Netherlands but the fact that neither the world champion or the runner up were guaranteed quotas and had to go through a gruelling qualification path not long after is unacceptable and should be changed for LA. Similarly we should've had a full set of quotas in BMX Freestyle, but the qualification document (which was wrongly changed in the middle of the qualification period) prioritised more nations instead of quality of competition. Taekwondo's stupid continental participation rules potentially cost us 2-3 quotas, and fencing prioritising teams instead of individuals for the individual event cost Stutchbury a quota in women's foil and potentially some others too. However, there were some quotas we lost which were our own doing. GB men's rugby sevens team missing out after 4th in Tokyo is as absolute embarrassment for reasons I've already mentioned in the final qualifier thread, and it should be romped home about in the media instead of being portrayed as a disappointment as well as "well we tried". GB boxing's indecisive decisions and poor selections led to only 6 boxers qualifying instead of reaching double figures. Once again (barring reallocation) it looks like Ben Llewellin has retained his title of biggest bottle job in qualifying as he once again ranks highly but fails to qualify in men's skeet. Poor results by the men as well as a couple from Beth Shriver caused us to only earn 2 quotas in BMX racing as opposed to 4. Our men's judo team had an absolute shocker, as we may only earn 1 quota and that's dependent on AIN rejections. Lauren Williams was a disappointment in Taekwondo, although that's mainly down to injury which caused her to miss the European Games and sealed her fate. No quotas in Fencing and Canoe Sprint for the first time ever isn't a good luck, although AIN rejections and continental and universality quota returns in the latter could give our K4 team a combined reallocation quota. Should've done better in both men's and women's basketball by at least reaching the OQT. Our men's table tennis team should've qualified, and 2 singles quotas is not good enough based off past cycles. GB badminton seems to have fallen apart, as only Gilmour and Vendy and Lane qualified which isn't good enough. It looks like we're gonna send our smallest athletics team in years which is mainly down to the poor decisions made by British Athletics, mainly adopting the swimming selection system which doesn't work for us as we don't have the strength in depth in most events (particularly the field ones). Not qualifying Smith, Davies or any male athlete in weightlifting was slightly dissapointing but not too unexpected. And finally not so much a disappointment but it was a shame the Bello brothers didn't qualify in Beach Volleyball, it would've been the boost the sport needed in this country. There were some good moments though during this period though. We qualified more athletes than Tokyo in skateboarding, sport climbing and shooting, and still boast really strong teams in swimming, diving and cycling. And even though we didn't qualify, our surfers, women's water polo team and the Bello brothers in beach volleyball put up a good showing and set us up for qualification in those events for LA. I'd also say qualifying a full team in archery was a surprising success given the form of the men's team up until last month's Euros. Overall, even though this qualification cycle has been a bit disappointing it gives us a lot to build on for LA where we can hopefully impress and reach the 400 athlete mark (especially considering all the new sports are favourable to us).

This is exactly what I mean @dodge @Epic Failure. As a rugby nation we should be making sure that we challenge the likes of Australia and Fiji every tournament, not accepting our position in the sport. That's how you get complacent and that's how things like this happen. The team should be doing way better considering the foundations we had in the sport, and even if we were struggling for 15s players I dunno why we didn't try to nab a couple quick rugby league players who have some experience playing union. This should be touted as a massive embarrassment, not a disappointment.

Completely embarrassed to be a fan today. This whole qualification period should've been a doddle for us but no, miss management and a poor set of players from 15s have led us to this new low today. No pace, no composure, no nothing. And now because of this we won't even comes close to our overall athlete total in Tokyo.

Knock on, what a bunch of knobheads. Should've pissed it to the Olympics even before this qualifier but no, got no quality whatsoever. The sooner 9s is introduced the better.

Gonna be a close contest between and . One thing that may slightly edge it for is that haven't been tested at all this tournament, whereas have faced and a spirited performance. Furthermore, have rested a lot of their quicker players and will be able to match the pace of . I still think it's too close to call though.

Sunni knocked out in last place in his group and most likely won't qualify. Have to say that was one of the worst and most confusing things I've watched in my life. The ones who did the better moves never won for some reason, and the B-Boy who picked the track tended to be the one who won.

Regardless South Africa looked really poor and struggled with the conditions, both us and Spain would've beat them there.

Semi finals Controversy in the last match as win on golden point against however there were 2 blatant forwards passes in the build up to said golden point try which the ref and linesman somehow missed. Out of the 4 teams looked the best closely followed by who eased off in the second half against . struggled in the poor conditions against and would've lost to both and . It's still looking like they won't be tested till the final though, as looks a shadow of the team that played yesterday.

GB looked good against Tonga, better than South Africa did against Uganda who struggled to cope with the poor conditions but luckily for them so did Uganda who arguably struggled more.

Slightly, but tbh I reckon I'll start wilting away once I start watching at start trying to figure out how he can win the quota. Something which does make this event somewhat worthwhile though is the names of some of the B-Girl. My personal favourites are B-Girl Syssy, B-Girl Spidergirl, B-Girl MadMax and B-Girl Isis. Dunno how the Ecuadorian got away with that last one.

Just looked at his group and he's got a good chance of making it through to the quarters. Should really be a straight shootout between him and the B-Boy for second spot in the group.

If I'm not mistaken Thompson-Smith is also qualified too as she finished ahead of Kim, Hily and one of the Italians.
