  1. I think Jung will make at least one mistake in the second round, he didnt look too convincing in the first round, Nicolas could win his second gold today.
  2. Yeah, we always start slow, i think 4 years ago it took even longer for us to win a medal. This time Biedermann (mens 200 free), Engleder (womens 10 m air rifle) and Hausding/Klein (mens 10 m synchronized) already could have won a medal, but it wasnt meant to be apparently ...
  3. Congrats, of course i would have preferred a gold for Germany, but France taking the gold is better than Australia or New Zealand taking the gold, especially because you also have been pretty unlucky in Rio so far. Its crazy that the german team still won the silver, although they couldnt have performed any worse. This could have been the easiest gold ever, but Klimke and Auffarth obviously were satisfied with their gold from 4 years ago and didnt want to win another one ...
  4. Exactly, nice that you noticed it, i already wrote him a PM 3 or 4 hours ago. By the way: We are talking about question 74, for everyone who isnt an equestrian expert.
  5. Nice to know that you will stop with the discussion and also nice to know that you somehow know how often i watch eventing. I guess i dont have to say anthing, because you know what i think anyway? If you dont mind, then please allow me to still write what i think, just in case that other people might not have your divine talent to read my mind: 1) 54/91 is still less than 38/64 2) Would you say that the level of competition at the olympics and world championships is the same? Am i right to assume that the average quality of athletes at 2014 world championships was lower than the average quality of athletes in Rio or would you say that most of those 27 athletes who werent allowed to compete here but competed at the last world championships would have been able to finish the course as expected? You have to wonder why all those world class athletes didnt manage to qualify ... 3) I want to ask another question, of course you dont have to answer it: How often in the last 6 olympics (1992-2012) or 7 world championships (1990-2014) did at least 59% of the athletes retire/had to whitdraw/had at least one refusal?
  6. Yeah, but this time 38 out of 64 were eliminated, had to retire or had a refusal. So if this is quite normal, then please tell me: 1) When was the last time that more than 59% werent able to finish the course as planned? Simple question and if a course like that is quite normal for a competition like olympic games or world championships, then you should be able to find the answer pretty fast. 2) When was the last time that no team was able to finish the course with all four riders as planned, having no refusal/retirement/elimination? I understand that most people want to see Germany lose, so i dont expect anyone here to have an unbiased opinion, especially because you expressed before that you are not a great fan of Jung, despite the fact that he is without a doubt the greatest eventing rider of all time.
  7. I said that its a lottery if its a course like today, not in general ... 1/4 of all the riders were eliminated or retired during cross-country. Of the remaining 48 riders 22 had a refusal. So out of 64 athletes in total only 26 were able to ride the course as planned, for me thats not acceptable. Each team had at least one rider who got eliminated or had a refusal, so obviously it wasnt about having a bad day, no nation really knew how to handle the course. IOC will kick out eventing and probably also dressage sooner or later, but probably for another reason. There are just extremely few people who care about this sport and thats all that IOC is about.
  8. Yeah i think all teams had at least one athlete who got eliminated or had a refusal, i guess for all of them it was just bad luck ... Klimkes mistake was obvious, she was riding too fast and therefore missed the obstacle, the german coach told her to risk everything. If this is what eventing should look like for you, then it hopefully will be kicked out of the olympics because no one wants to watch this shitty lottery.
  9. Very sad that Daley won a medal again, hopefully he retires soon.
  10. We could have been in second place after 3 rotations, if Bretschneider wouldnt have fallen of the high bar again.
  11. Sorry, i dont agree at all. If so many athletes have a refusal or are eliminated, then its not a good course in my opinion. Normally we also dont just have dressage, the difference is that normally its about the time (only the best riders make the time) and not about not having a refusal. Germany has been the best nation in eventing for many years and now they wont even win a medal, do you really think that this course showed which nations are best in eventing? This would mean that all organizers in the past got it wrong and Germany was just lucky.
  12. Yeah, its obvious, italian athletes are really motivated because russian athletes are banned, otherwise italy would still have 0 medals.
  13. Italy and Australia at the moment cant do anything wrong, its really amazing. Athletes of all other nations just have to hope that they dont have to compete against athletes from those nations.
  14. Its really disrespectful too all the people who are really braindead, i will change it to "shockingly stupid".
  15. Yeah expected for Klimke, it just isnt meant to be, the course is clearly to difficult, organizers are shockingly stupid, just like those in road cycling. If so many elite riders have refusals, than you clearly did something wrong. Its not about the best athlete, but about the most lucky athlete.
  16. Very sad to hear. Political decision? I think so.
  17. Do you know what happened with the live results? It says that Germany is at 107.30 at the moment, with 66.40 by Auffarth and 40.90 by Jung. Australia is first with a final result of 150.30, this would mean that Germany could still take the lead if Klimke reaches the finish in time without any refusal, but that doesnt make any sense ...
  18. Not only so far, it was our safest gold medal. In the end i dont really care anymore, those doping games have become wortheless for me, no one can take any of the results seriously anymore. Organizers wanted to do something special and destroyed the competition with it. All those athletes worked so hard for multiple years just to end up in a lottery competition, where it clearly isnt about ability anymore but only about luck. At least 3 of the german athletes won gold before and will probably win gold again in 2020, so i think they will get over it.
  19. Haha, France will win gold, what a shit competition, way too difficult. If we cant even win safe gold medals, then we probably wont win any gold in Rio.
  20. I think Bouchard will make the final, she definitely will beat Kerber.
  21. Yeah, Germany is also having a hard time at the moment, it was the same in London. You have more than enough gold medal contenders left, so no reason to panic. I think Diniz and Lavillenie are almost locks for gold in athletics. You also have Yoka/Mossely (boxing), some medal contenders in canoeing slalom, mens lightweight double sculls, some medal contenders in BMX and mountainbike, Bouge/Pervis/Boudat in track cycling, equestrian team/individual jumping, equestrian team eventing, multiple medal chances in fencing, womens football, mens/womens handball, multiple medal contenders in judo and sailing, mens rapid fire pistol, Manaudou, some medal contenders in taekwondo and mens volleyball. I think you will win at least 12 golds and 40 medals in total. I never thought that Mladenovic/Garcia would be able to challenge for gold, but with the Williams sisters out they might have had a chance. On the mens side i think that your doubles was only seeded first because all really good doubles withdrew. In my opinion mens doubles was always pretty open. I am shocked that the favorites in mens singles (Djokovic) and womens doubles are already out, at the same time i am very happy for Del Potro, who is my favorite player on the mens side. I think Murray will now defend his title pretty easily, which would be absolutely outstanding. In womens doubles the draw seems pretty open now, i hope that the Czech Republic wins gold.
  22. Yeah ... obviously winning a medal is better than winning none ... I think everyone would be happy if the american men would win the team event and if Kiefer would win womens foil. I dont care about the results in all other events, but the US has to win gold in those 2 events.
  23. Tasiadis is my favorite for gold, i think Pfeifer could also win gold in womens k1, i dont expect anything in mens k1 and mens c2 is unpredictable for me, although Anton/Benzien are the current world champions.
  24. I think Canada also has a british coach who coached for example Halsall previously, but i dont agree with your comparison. GB was also very good on the mens side, Canada doesnt have any medal contenders on the mens side. They dont have any chance to make the final in mens 50/200 free, 100/200 breast, 100/200 back, 100/200 fly or 200 IM. In the end Cochrane, Condorelli and maybe Acevedo are their only decent swimmers on the mens side. Cochrane wont get much better until 2020 and Condorelli is a product of the american system, his development doesnt have much to do with Canada. On the womens side they look fantastic. Masse, McLean, Oleksiak and Ruck could be medal contenders very soon (or they already are). Oleksiak reminds me a lot of Franklin when she was younger and people also thought that Franklin would have a great future ahead of her, so you cant be sure where Oleksiak will be in 2020. I think canadian fans should be really happy that everything turned out perfectly for them in Rio so far, i guess no one expected that they would have 2 medals by now. I am also wondering how much it helps them that the brazilian time zone is pretty close to their own (time zones), while athletes from most other countries have to adapt to a completely new time zone.
  25. Ok ... dude ... if you say so then it must be true. I guess they should have given her the gold even before the competition started? Its really an insult that other gymnasts even dare to compete against the american gymnasts.
