Wow, 3 Norwegians in the 5000m final?

Wow that was a quick heat

It's amazing how many seats in this stadium are covered by tarp. They must have seen super low ticket sales

With Biden leading the Dems polls it's kinda hilarious you'll be potentially replacing one rich old white guy with another rich old white guy though. The more things change, the more they stay the same
Well, democratic socialism only gets major support in countries which never experienced communism and are rich enough to sustain a huge welfare spending. It works well in Scandinavia given their smallish population but I don't see it working in USA over the long haul. Obamacare would be a bottomless well going forward and something would have to give there for sure.
I wouldn't consider Biden rich - he's a career politician. Being old and white is where the comparisons between the two of them end.

Very fair. It’s also super beneficial to keep him in office because he’s a beatable election opponent. Plus, if he’s relected it creates more opportunities for socialists like myself to gain more power in this country.
In the end, I’d probably agree with most people that for the greater good of the country it’s better to see him go.
The irony is that the unhinged socialist congresspeople currently in office could hurt this whole impeachment process. I hope that Pelosi has a handle on her caucus and continues to proceed with this in a practical manner.
Also, the damage Trump would cause with another four years in office would be irreparable - this far outweighs the perceived benefits of your speculation that it gives socialists more power down the road. Impeachment likely won't get him out of office, and so lets hope he just loses next November - and in my opinion, lets hope we can return to a moderate form of governance, I think the extremes on either side of the spectrum will only lead to more chaos.

I’m against impeachment.
Told you.
There's no longer a choice. Trump has admitted to trying to rig the election through foreign interference. There is no use trying to remove him in the 2020 election when you know he's not going to play by the rules.

Speaker Pelosi to announce an impeachment inquiry at 5PM EST. Buckle up

Well that's one way to look at it.
I think it's disqualifying, but this is one issue among the several that I listed

No idea where I said or even suggested that, no. I'm just reacting to someone mentioning some reasons and this specific one seems like a pretty odd reason. No event can ever change the 'traditional timing and schedule' (whatever that may be)?
World Cup in the winter? Olympics in October? Marathon run at midnight?
If a country cannot physically host an event in the regular window for fear of heat exhaustion and athlete performance, they should not be hosting these events.

No, Qatar should events because they can afford. What they shouldn’t do is use slave labor to host such events.
yeah, that parts awful, but they should be a non-starter for hosting anything because they have no sporting history and pay for athletes. They also bribe to host these events. Also, it's like a thousand degrees there and they fuck with the traditional timing and schedule of competitions. Need I go on? That alone, should preclude them from hosting all of these events - but, if they're only option for hosting, as it appears in many cases, c'est la vie.
In summation, fuck Qatar. This is my statement

There should be a term for people, who hate certain countries hosting sporting events. At least Qatar is in my time zone and it's perfectly timed for me. If only there was a capable TV to show it (and not the dreadful BNT).
Russia and Qatar should never host sporting events imo

Dammit! Trudeau is racist . There goes the one world leader I liked . Time to find my new favorite progressive.
This is a massive over-reaction. The policies his government has put forth over the last four years have shown he is anything but racist. What he did was racist and stupid, but he owned up to it and apologized - certainly more than you can say about other world leaders. I am getting sick of this persecution of people for past mistakes to score political points, but it is the new norm, and will only become even more normalized as we live in a new age where political candidates (or any public figure for that matter) have their entire past on social media to be scrutinized.
The problem here lies in hypocrisy. This is an example of why the virtue-signaling, holier than thou posturing of liberal politicians like Trudeau today is so frustrating and dangerous, and only leads to further polarization and the election of populist figures. For all of the terrible things that done Donald Trump has done, at least he is unabashedly a piece of shit, and doesn't pretend to be perfect.
In summation, this incident shouldn't taint your entire perception of Trudeau, and certainly does not make him a racist. Is he a stupid and unqualified moron, yeah, of course, but he's not a racist.
Another thing to consider is that Canada is a parliamentary democracy - the real issue will be reconciling voting for Liberal candidates who are brown, while these photographs of their leader lie in the background. At the end of the day, I don't know if it is quite as damaging as it would be for a Presidential candidate who is directly voted for.

So what's the deal with non-Olympic weight classes? Could you qualify a quota in an Olympic weight class, and then have a wrestler from another weight class lose/gain weight to take the quota?
-
As we were discussing in the Suggestions thread, it would be nice to get these schedules posted at the top of threads again for events, because the official websites are always terrible. I just put this together for the World Athletics Championship. @Sindo, would it be possible to add this to the first post, maybe as a "spoiler" so that people don't have to scroll through it?

We had that before the results portal I believe, but in some cases that led to endless scrolling because every single heat and bout was specifically mentioned I don't remember why it wasn't simply put in a spoiler so it takes no space unless you click on it
Yes, brilliant. Putting it as a spoiler is a great idea.

What a coincidence, I was wondering the exact same thing only two or three days ago Not really because of results (I generally use Wikipedia or some official or specialized site), but because of schedules of a certain event
I feel the exact same lol. I always felt that Wikipedia was way better than the results portal for seeing the actual results, but I miss being able to see the schedule for the event in the first post of each thread. The event websites are always terrible for this.
@Sindo would it be possible to bring this back, and post the schedule for the events in the first post of the thread again on this main site?

Awful, very tragic news. My thoughts and prayers to the family of @hukbrazil. I remember him as a valuable contributor the forum, especially during Rio. It is always a pleasure to hear from posters from the host country of an event, as it was great to see the contributions from Brazilians in 2016. He will be missed.

I hope it gets busier tomorrow when there are finals. But about half the seats are covered by tarps. I would bet there's no more than 20,000 seats available for spectators to sit in.
