Very happy for those guys. When you sacrifice a couple decades of life expectancy and need a crane to leave the house, then you deserve all the luck you can get.
I will admit that this is very funny

I don't get it, shouldn't every competitor in the 10000m have the stamina to be able to dominate the 1500m? Why is this impressive?
-
What an embarrassment
-
Wow, 2 awful exchanges by the Americans

I heard they killed off Emilia Clarke's character in the end? But Idk who even sat on that Iron Throne in the end? Given some of the final season backlash I can only guess it remained empty? That would be fitting
Well I'll just say that the guy who "sits on the throne" at the end is currently taking part in the high jump

I suppose this is some GoT reference but I haven't watched a single second of that crap so Idk
Just watch the first six seasons is my advice

Did anyone just see that guy on camera in the crowd with a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey on . So awesome

Why do you say that?
In his introduction he looked really awkward and nerdy. Could just be nerves though I guess

Hahahah no way there's a high jumper named Brandon Starc

Holy shit I didn't realize how much of a weiner Michael Mason is

i didn't predict any medal for Barshim , am i the only one ?
Watch half the crowd leave the stadium when he doesn't win a medal, and its empty for the rest of the session like it has been all week
-
Finally some good crowds, and all it took was Barshim

Very interesting, every single Olympic insider thought it was a done deal for . I wonder what NOC is whispering in Bach’s ear
Why would it be awarded next year? It should be awarded in 2025 at the latest. There's still an entire Winter Olympics in 2030 to figure out

Just out of curiosity, what do you call the bug, the road next to a highway, the divider between traffic, the sweet carbonated drink, and the place where traffic meets at an intersection without traffic lights that goes in a loop?
Speaking of traffic lights, there’s nothing more horrible as an American than traveling to Canada and getting a blinking green. The shit gave my whole family a collective heart attack.
Firefly, nothing, median, pop, roundabout, hbu?
I haven't come across blinking greens here. Are you talking about an advanced green? Where was this?

Think Lyles can do both, I think he just wanted to concentrate on getting his first major here, but in future will double up.
I would agree with that

Can anyone with a deep knowledge of the decathlon give me some more insight- what are the disciplines Warner, Mayer and LePage are most successful in?
-
An interesting thought that I had about De Grasse, is that while he won’t be an Olympic champion in the 100 or 200, most likely, he is the only male sprinter right now who can still successfully pull off the double with Bolt having retired.
The sport has shifted to specialists in the 100 and 200.

I got Reno and Fresno. I don’t get LA because my grandma, who I’m close with, was raised in Kansas, so I’ve picked up some of her slang. Plus, I’ve picked up some of my dads from the NorthWest, so I get put somewhere in the middle of those three, hence Reno.
What about you guys @dezbee2008 @Maxim Fastovsky @bmo @Rdbc @Csapo?
I’d be interested in @intoronto @ofan @orangeman answers too, and maybe @OlympicIRL @Grassmarket @Dragon since our language is the closers in similarity.
This doesn’t seem to have any canadian cities as an option- but I got San Jose, Honolulu and Los Angeles. I am not surprised, as I have been to both the Bay Area and Los Angeles once before, and found that part of the States to have the accent most similar to mine.
I would be interested to see a Canadian version of this - we have different slang, a lot as it pertains to alcohol (Mickey is a small bottle of liquor, two-four, pop instead of soda, etc.). We also say Eh a lot, this is true, but at the end of a statement to turn into into a quasi-question, and not in regular everyday speech.
I’m from the Toronto area and there is a lot of slang used there (they call it a Toronto mans accent, the way of speaking Drake has basically) that I don’t use, most likely because I am white and had a very Western European upbringing.

I am 100% anti calling the 400m a sprint. Although I am perfectly aware there are people who do so, yes.
Well then what do you call it? It's too short to be middle-distance

And the 400m's.
And I would assume for the relays as well. Also, isn't 400m a sprint event?
-
Well, this US relay team is going to be pretty damn good

None of these provinces are going to leave Canada - but I predict that a right-wing populist party from the West could emerge. People in Alberta are even more insufferable than those in Trump-land in the Southern US.
