I think a 100m race walk would be awesome. I predict a lot of faults, however.
Also, I am very keen on a 100m sprint in cross country skiing. What do people think of this?

It could. It’d be the like the ultra marathon of race walking. It still think I’d be cool to have a shorter distance event (importantly while keeping the traditional distances), maybe a 5km

guys, can we write only about athletics, please?
I think we've gone way too far with arguments that should be discussed in the Politics thread and not here...thanks!
I agree - I apologize and accept responsibility for participating in this and furthering the discussion. I should have just ignored the trolling and provocation of some posters.

It's an extreme right-wing talking point, and frankly I'm disturbed that such views are being expressed on a site that's supposed to represent sport at its highest level. These people need to leave their politics at home and stop trying to tell me what Canada is and who a Canadian is.
All you need is to read the posts of some users on this forum in this thread alone, and it's very easy to understand why extreme right-wing populism is running rampant across Europe

Exactly, that is the problem on this forum. Innocent question get deleted, while personal attacks dont get deleted. Nowadays it is only about who can scream "I am the victim" the loudest, facts dont matter anymore.
Just now, OlympicsFan said:Looking at the countries of origin of most of the canadian athletes here i wouldn't be surprised if Canada tried to bought Chepkoech. Luckily she has enough pride to not switch nationalities for money.
It's so funny to read your first post, and then have you follow it up with this garbage. Canada, and most western nations do not buy athletes. They are either born there, or settle as immigrants or refugees and then compete for their adopted nation. You are right, facts certainly do not matter when it comes to your posts and comments.

Because people from african countries never win medals in middle/long distance running without help from the western world.
They don't if they're from nations in perpetual civil war like Somalia. Nations like Kenya and Ethiopia have strong athletics infrastructure and support programs in place.

Lets be real Ahmed would not have won this medal had he not CHOSEN to move to and live/train in Canada.
Same with Mo Farah, and many others

Ingerbrigtsen clipped Ahmed about 5 times in those final laps

Why are the US and Japan in the pre-qualification tournaments? This is so stupid

Sidorova clear as well! Shaping up for a showdown between her and Morris

Wow what a run by Vasquez, expending all energy

Is CBC showing it?
Same coverage that you are probably watching. I just saw that she was clear following live results

Morris is clear!

I'm pretty sure he wanted to embelish the story...all vaulters have a full set of strictly personal poles...
French athlete gave it to her if you were watching, as @Col_Frost said

it's not borrowed...all vaulters have more than one (probably she used the one calibrated for a higher mark)...
Nope, she borrowed it from another athlete, commentators said so

Bengtsson gets over with a borrowed pole!!! Six women moving on now
-
So 5 remain in the women's pole vault, plus the Belarusian passing to 4.85. Only Newman has never cleared this height before in her career
