  1. It was reallocated to the women's -48kg for (continental quota)
  2. Also eight quotas have been declined. - M -100kg - W -48kg - W -57kg - W -70kg - W -70kg - W -78kg - W +78kg - W +78kg Quotas seemed to have been reallocated in an order based on which nations declined first. were continental quotas, but none remain so they were reallocated to the highest ranked eligible athlete (W -49kg) and (W +78kg) was a continental quota so it went to the next highest European nation without one, (W +78kg). Same with where the quota went to (W -52kg). The simple reallocations were going to the next highest ranked nations in the same event respectively. hasn't been reallocated (which is why we have 391 athletes instead of 392). It should go to and if they decline it would go to before going to the overall ranking (assuming it will ever be reallocated since we are now past the deadline)
  3. She's there, it's Burkina Faso that already qualified
  4. Weird 21 quotas, but only 20 were suppose to be allocated
  5. I imagine it was a compromise between the two. I bet WA would love to have added on to each event like they did for the 100m, but that would have easily pushed them above 1900 athletes. Even now, they may go above that number depending on how many relay-only athletes are selected.
  6. Unsurprisingly not every nation's best athlete is a 100m runner. Once World Athletics saw how many World Ranking athletes would miss out they changed the rules to force as many nations into the 100m events.
  7. Haha, thanks. They aren't a bad team and with Canada and Greece not sending their best I felt they had a bit opportunity. Lucky for them they seized it.
  8. Removed nations which were listed in athletics. We are down to two nations... and
  9. Knew they would give us trouble, hopefully we do better in the second half.
  10. Technically you can in taekwondo, it's just very hard to do so. Only weightlifting prevents you from competing in every event.
  11. Maybe it's because it's legal in Canada, but is there any competitive advantage for marijuana or is this a "moral" issue?
  12. She benefited from a rare set of circumstances. Had the BTF revealed a less favorable qualification procedure (like having the continental qualifiers in 2019) or if another Canadian athlete took prominence then she wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on. The combination of being one of the best athletes prior to getting pregnant, BTF screwing Pan American athletes hard and having the full support of the Canadian Federation gave her the opportunity to strike.
  13. Pretty much, but it does open the possibility of other athletes claiming the same thing. Here's a list of events which were cancelled and not rescheduled so the quotas were awarded either through world rankings or an earlier event. Boxing - Americas Qualifier, World Qualifier Canoeing - Pan American Sprint and Slalom Qualifiers Cycling - BMX Racing World Championships Gymnastics - Individual All-Around World Cup Series, Asian Artistic Championships Sport Climbing - Asian Championships Skateboarding - World Park Championships. Table Tennis - World Tour Event (Mixed Doubles), Oceania CQT The biggest loser is probably in women's BMX racing. Canada's Laurence Vincent-Lapointe is a bigger one, but Canada could have chosen her, but chose not to.
  14. I think the logic is that the European places were awarded first and then the reallocated quotas which ended up being the same nation. Of course with athletes still pulling out the point might be moot.
  15. Two ITF Places (Oceania quota and host quota) had to be reallocated in both the men's and women's singles (next highest ranked athlete), but the ITF still calls them ITF Places. Pedro got the European quota while Joao for the reallocated quota. We see a similar thing on the women's side where Nina Stojanovic got the European quota while her compatriot Ivana Jorovic got the reallocated quota.
  16. The relay is a sprint triathlon while the individual race is standard triathlon. While there is a lot of athlete overlap between the two types, I can see an athlete who is better in one only competing in a single event. With that said, I don't think limiting our women to just the relay event will increase our medal chance by a lot.
  17. The IOC has already reduced weightlifting to 120 athlete quotas which means only 4 men and 4 women events (I guess they could do 5+5 with 12 athletes each) so even with the reforms the sport will be badly neutered
  18. The fairest way would be for the IOC to create a quota like they did for the refugee athletes or Saudi Arabian women in 2012 and 2016
  19. I guess they failed to reach the MQS, previously, World Archery was more lax, but I guess rules are rules.
  20. Having rules where sports must have multiple opportunities to qualify (most already do) and have at least one of them being held in May/June before the Olympics solves most issues outside of injury plagued athletes (in which case you could argue that they may not be 100% fit by the Olympics anyway)
  21. That's crazy, didn't think she would win. Are there any other boxers (or athletes in general) who were pregnant? I imagine this ruling mostly benefits Pan American boxers as the qualification rules were changed for them. The Pan American Canoe Sprint and Slalom qualifiers also had the same fate so someone there could benefit as well (if there was someone).
  22. That's a weird number... Were they reduced to 2+2, but 3/4 athletes chosen for one gender doped?
  23. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of Canada's team have a parent or grandparent born in a different country
  24. I'm still waiting to see if can grab a tennis quota.
  25. Rhythmic gymnastics is a lot safer than artistic.
