  1. Problem Rowing & Sailing have is that if you cut the solo discipline numbers, they don’t have any chance of meeting the multi-Continental requirements. Again, Judo - and all the combat sports - are also accessible for the poorest & smallest nations. Agree for cycling road races.
  2. If you have any random lumps of whale vomit lying about your house don’t throw them away! Could be worth a fortune. I remember many years ago in Moscow one of the women in our tour group was buying all the Soviet perfume she could find (not much, obviously) because it was made with ambergris, which was way illegal in the West by that time. A dog found a rare lump of whale vomit on a beach which could land its owner a small fortune. Patrick Williamson, 37, was stunned when his pup dropped her ball and sprinted over to a mysterious rock on the shore. Mr Williamson, who is a fisherman, knew it was ambergris, which is produced in the intestine of the sperm whale. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12626777/Whale-vomit-ambergris-Irvine-Beach-Scotland.html
  3. Russia does something so crass that even Thomas Bachgoldmedallistfencing1976 cannot ignore it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/67049864
  4. As we see with the Rugby World Cup it’s impossible to have 15-man Rugby because players are limited to one match per week. Even with a full round on Day -2 you couldn’t finish.
  5. Impressive! Guess Arnold Schwarznegger & Bernie Ecclestone have missed out, then?
  6. Good news for is that Sonia O’Sullivan is holding back the clean sweep with the prestigious 2000m!
  7. You are right - we have fallen into one of the big holes in the year when summer sports wind down & the big winter sports have not started yet.
  8. Wow, the proper sub 2 hour barrier is now thoroughly on! Kiptum looks like he could try again next week.
  9. Is it too late to get a Kayak Cross Relay invented & onto the programme for Paris?
  10. Have just had an email from Recast who were the PPV outfit used by ICF Slalom & World Curling……they’ve gone bust! So I guess we are back to YT for now.
  11. One of the lobby's arguments is that they "just want to do the sport they love". Well...
  12. Easy enough to detect them it’s eradicating them that’s the problem.
  13. Usually at a Major dope tests are done for all medal winners & a sample of others. Then of course samples are kept for later re-testing as technology develops.
  14. I think we could have predicted this one. World Aquatics’ plans to debut a new open category for transgender athletes at this week’s swimming World Cup in Berlin have been cancelled after no entries were received. Swimming’s governing body, which last year voted to ban transgender women from the elite female category, had promised to stage the “pioneering pilot project” to promote its “unwavering commitment to inclusivity, welcoming swimmers of all sex and gender identities”. 15. Nothing much can be done to develop these sports by an outside agency like lottery funding. The way to grow them is to do what ice & field hockey have done - have a strong domestic league & club sides capable of winning matches in European Cup-type competitions. There’s no chance of having a strong national team without strong club teams.
  16. Dramatic finish to the final stage Tour of . Race Leader Aular - Caja Rural - crashed with 200m to go, had to get help from the doctors & then walked to the line with his bike to finish - just managed to get back on in the last few metres, an ambulance ominously following behind like a shark’s fin.
  17. Best thing about Lausanne is that you go in under a high jump set to Sotomoayor’s World Record. WTF! There’s no way__
  18. In what sense is a Government-subsidised NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) an NGO? If Government subsidies are their only or main source of income, then they are a GO, like the Bundeswehr.
  19. British middle-distance runner Laura Weightman also has to quit after a long sequence of injuries. https://www.instagram.com/lauraweightman1/?img_index=1
  20. I disagree, the desire of Thomas Bacholympicchampionfencing1976 to appear as the International Champion of Peace will always win over any so-called rules.
  21. We all know that the IOC are going to make an exception here.
  22. I do recommend Lausanne.

  25. Good for him, he has at least one thing to be proud of! And he didn’t false start, which we have seen a lone runner do before.
