  1. Well, it’s all scheduled to be live on Discovery from Friday so…but we’ve already list the Women’s Tour of so things are spread a bit thin. They did expand very fast in only about five years. I can remember when practically the whole live TV year was a week in Sweden in August & the Worlds.
  2. Same here in . I, and other big athletics fans, enjoyed seeing all levels of athletics, that’s an improvement over the old system with all four divisions at once over the same weekend. Otherwise it’s a flop.
  3. Less exciting even than Billiards?
  4. We're back on Friday with the Lausanne DL - In fact there's a very good city centre women's high jump on Thursday as well, but Friday is the main action. Programme 2023 (diamondleague.com)
  5. Damn, the whole Mongol Invasion story was made up! You'll be telling me next that no town in Holland was ever saved from flooding by a brave boy covering up a crack in the dijk!
  6. It’s not too late to call the whole thing off & give it to London. Fans at next summer's Paris Olympics will not be able to buy alcohol inside stadiums after organisers decided not to seek an exemption to 'Evin's Law'. VIP guests in hospitality areas will be served with alcoholic drinks. The French law bans the sale of alcohol in stadiums to the general public, but allows for exemptions to a limited number of events per year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/66030110
  7. Ground is so muddy everyone is having to hose down their skis. That’s a pair ruined.
  8. Trial round now going after 20 minute delay so....
  9. Delays for the ski jumping.
  10. I was watching Olympic eSports Chess at the weekend. It was deeply weird. Fair enough, they started with a global tournament for 10,000 players over the internet. Then out of all those they brought 10 people to play in person in . Obviously a nice reward for them. And then they sat them down in front of thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment to play a game of chess, although they were all literally in the same room and indeed played at the same table.
  11. Doesn’t always happen, if a decent group of swimmers get away they can stay away.
  12. Plus a dead flat course & wet conditions, nobody wants to do anything. Going to be decided on the run.
  13. Two person race in the triathlon between Alden & Gautier - others trying to get a chase going. Wet roads, lots of paint & tramlines so perfect conditions for crashing.
  14. Yeah, exaggeration. She got 2 points because Sweden were DQed.
  15. All the ski jumping events are straight two round finals btw. Practice jump. But no qual rounds.
  16. Another point: he cannot get injured. All able bodied athletes are putting tremendous stress on their take-off legs. Like pitchers is baseball, the amount of work/practice they can do is limited. He doesn’t have that limitation.
  17. Next meet up - tomorrow, the Golden Spike from Ostrava. Some people haven’t had that big a journey. https://zlatatretra.cz/index.php?page=startlist2023
  18. He's a great athlete, but his blade gives him an advantage over able-bodied athletes, so the comparisons are not really fair.
  19. Take the 4x400m from the B race.
  20. Think we can say that 1500m runner Dafni-Eftychia-Tereza Lavasa has very indecisive parents.
  21. Ogrodnikova is allowed to drive the remote control car!
  22. Sadly for Finno-Ugric linguistic family, ‘s attempt to recreate the “run backwards” strategy does not pass the jury.
  23. Well, I guess nobody appealed to the jury, but it was definitely a DQ offense. It is just about impossible to pick up a dropped baton legally.
  24. You are right. Second runner dropped it, third runner picked it up. DQ.
  25. It’s a Scandi triple! All DQed from Women’s 4x100m! Just so the judges don’t look like they are prejudiced against the Cross of St Magnus, are DQed as well.
