  4. Can’t imagine that van Gansewinkel is a common Dutch name, but maybe buying & selling geese is more common in the Low Countries.
  5. Astonishing record-fest in the Men’s Mile. Fittingly for the only proper distance in the programme.

  7. Romania always double up at every event, bur they are the only regular medal-winning nation that train for it. Some others might do it in an emergency qualification situation, as we did with the women’s eight last week.
  8. NZ’s usual rule in all sports is Top 8 at a World Championships or watch it on TV, I think.
  9. Seb Coe’s favourite toy gets an outing this weekend - DNA Clash of the Clubs from Rome on YT. Not quite sure who is involved, but professional Club athletics is of course a fruitful medallist recruiting ground for
  10. First big meet of the year on the international Women’s Tour. Big names in action in Basel . https://youtube.com/@WCTWorldCurlingTour?si=VqsHaMr1pj5DhGeV
  11. Think it will be very unpredictable this time because all the nations except the top two will now spend the winter planning to reshuffle their strongest assets into different combinations & boats so…..
  12. And the last of the Summer meets, the Friendship Cup from Sochi https://youtube.com/@russianbiathlon?si=2BVTZht2Nzd7aWl6
  13. Not able to watch any sport this week, but my Ipswich-Woodbridge bus was delayed by 10 minutes today by the Tour of Britain passing.
  14. Also big NR for Galvan.
  15. Good news, the Fourcade Fest is on Discovery Plus today!
  16. Confirmation of the story. https://www.letsrun.com/news/2023/09/noah-lyles-just-announced-hes-skipping-the-first-diamond-league-final-ever-held-in-the-us/
  17. Noah Lyles ends his season, according to Twitter which I’m not in so can’t link to.
  18. Or you could go to Lake Tahoe, which has a lake. Plus a house owned by my brother, just sayin’.
  19. And of course the IOC are going to take the $$$$ rather than defend the integrity of the sport.
  20. Yet again, they manage to stage the big crash if the day outside the 3km limit! Arensman into the ambulance.
  21. Got at least one live source for the Martin Fourcade Festival this weekend. Keep expecting this Channel to be by YouTube like SimonTV was, but not happening so far. The proper source is L’Equipe TV, but you need a mighty VPN to get it.
  22. For international competition, sure, but here in Britain we have historic rowing clubs on some very oddly shaped bits of water.
  23. Easy enough sport to compete in. All you need is a reasonably flat lake & some not-very expensive boats.
  24. Damn, missed this live, but here’s the highlights. From it’s the big one in the world of Wife-Carrying, the annual World Championships. NB make sure you have the CC enabled, unless you speak Finnish. The sport us somewhat misnamed, as the pairs need nit be husband & wife.
