I'm curious about the Spanish phenomenon in this sport. 15-20 years ago, this country was practically nonexistent in the world's top teams – they had only one star: Bianca Gill in the center. Since then, they have become the best team alongside the USA for over 10 years. The Netherlands, despite having limited number od players and a weak league, has remained at the top for years thanks to their physicality. And let's remember, there's no Russia... In all of this, there's no Italy, which has no plan. Perhaps it's worth investing in foreign coaching ideas? Constantly hanging around Italians doesn't work... Maybe we have to bring in someone from Spain, Greece, etc., give him 4-5 years, give him influencethe to youth sector as well and only then expect success.

Greece has had better junior teams than Italy for many years and even with a significant rejuvenation of the squad, it hasn't lost as much quality as Italy. Other countries, like Hungary and the Netherlands, play with stable squads and are therefore still strong. Italy has no idea how to approach this sport – for years, there's been a constant crisis, a miss of success in the junior cempetition and then constant rejuvenation of the squad, which no have any results. A single bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships won't change that. Zero stability and a miss of young, talented players, like in the USA and Greece, to afford constant roster changes. The result is that we could have even lost to China. In my opinion, this is the wrong path.

La Spagna ha avuto per anni due squadre di pallanuoto molto forti. Dobbiamo chiederci perché non possiamo seguire la stessa strada? Una sola squadra di pallavolo non basta all'Italia negli sport di squadra. La Spagna ha calcio, basket, pallanuoto e pallamano, tutti per donne e uomini. Noi abbiamo la pallavolo femminile e a qualche volta anche quella maschile. La pallanuoto è in declino da diversi anni (le ultime medaglie olimpiche risalgono al 2016). Ora, dopo una pausa di 30 anni, il basket femminile ha vissuto una temporanea ripresa, ma e ancora tropo poco. Mi aspetterei medaglie con regolarità almento nella pallavolo e nella pallanuoto + qualche sprazzo di sole ogni tanto nel basket, nel calcio, ecc.

Sarà un Mondiale disastroso: possibile zero medaglie d'oro, un disastro nella pallanuoto, ecc. Per quanto riguarda la pallanuoto, la Federnuoto ha ottenuto scarsi risultati per anni e questo e fatto.

Per me il bronzo ai Mondiali del 2023 non è stato un caso: abbiamo battuto gli Stati Uniti nei quarti di finale e l'Australia nella finale per il terzo posto. Il problema è che nel 2024 abbiamo avuto il nostro peggior risultato dell'intero ciclo: settimo posto ai Mondiali e sesto alle Olimpiadi (ma dopo un'imbarazzante sconfitta nel girone contro la Francia). Io penso che quella squadra dovesse essere al 100% della forma e combattere al 100% per battere qualcuno più forte. Non avevano alcuna possibilità con una forma leggermente inferiore, anche perché sono troppo deboli fisicamente.

A mio parere, dovremmo essere forti in questi quattro sport principali: calcio, basket, pallavolo e pallanuoto. Anche Francia e Spagna hanno la pallamano, ma sono più deboli nella pallanuoto (Francia) e volley (Spagna). Mi piacerebbe vedere medaglie vinte regolarmente in almeno due di queste discipline: pallavolo e pallanuoto.
