  1. Okay, but our league in the early 2000s was very strong and had a lot of great players, yet there was still a lot of places for young Italians. Now, apart from Milano and Bologna, no other team has very good players and they prefer to sign an average foreigner than invest in a young local player. It`s a problem with mentality, I think.
  2. I was in the Tunisian desert near the Algerian border in 1999, but there was a war and at that time no one was going there. It's probably similar in Libya now.
  3. We have talented young players, but the problem is later: our leagues are full of poor foreigners players and young people aren't given the chance to play. It's the same in football. At the beginning of the 21st century, things were different and players like Belinelli and Bargnani made their Euroleague debuts at the age of 17 or 18. In volleyball we have regulations that are more restrictive for foreign players + they financially promote those clubs that focus on young Italians.
  4. They climbed the alpine method—it's faster, but also more dangerous. Earlier in July Laura had climbed another peak above 6,000 meters in this region. It's quite possible they wanted to get there quickly- before the bad weather. The season in this region lasts from June to September, so it's quite short. It was certainly unlucky, taking into account the fact, her partner wasn't hurt, but these are high mountains and even a meter in the wrong direction can cost you your life.
  5. Non ho parole per questo Ceccon
  6. Ceccon once again loses to Coetze by hundredths of a second, this time the semi-final of the 200 backstroke... Ceccon clearly has problems with his head and because of this he will achieve much less than he could with a different approach. Pity.
  7. https://www.oasport.it/2025/07/hockey-prato-vittoria-netta-sulla-croazia-per-litalia-venerdi-le-semifinali/ Venerdì giochiamo contro la Svizzera. Una vittoria significherebbe il ritorno in Elite. Siamo i favoriti? Un ritorno in Elite League sarebbe un successo dopo il recente periodo molto difficile.
  8. Could poor conditions have caused this accident? I just hope she didn't suffer before she died
  9. Da diversi anni la Spagna è più brava di noi nella sciabola femminile in gare indywiduale. Per me nessuna sorpresa. Anche spada è stata una grande delusione: 0 medaglie (1x 4, 3x 5 e 2x 7 posto).
  10. There are still neutrals from Belarus, although fewer in number, and they are marked with the simbol: A :P
  11. Today, we also won gold in the mixed diving event. It's a non-Olympic event, but it's still a great succes to beat China and Australia.
  12. If they had found her still alive, local authorities and services would probably have been notified.
  13. It's also awful to express condolences, RIP etc., in the comments when there is still hope that she is live.
  14. OK. I wonder what draws these people to these remote and terrifying mountains in Asia, when some of their friends lost their lives this way? You can have experience, great equipment, etc., but a rock slide and that's end. It's terrifying. What's more, many of these people pay huge sums for these expeditions and sacrifice their free time/vacations for this. I'll never understand something like that. If someone offered me 1 million euros to go there and climb, I'd say no.

  16. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1924_British_Mount_Everest_expedition The remains of these people were found after almost 100 years Technology has advanced, but as you can see, there is still not much that humans can do in these terrible and high mountains. Laura's boyfriend also reportedly died in the high mountains. It's a shame this didn't stop her from making such dangerous trips, especially to the highest peaks.
  17. Nessuna medaglia oggi in scherma.
  18. So far, we have 15 medals, half of which are in non-Olympic events: diving, artistic swimming and 4 medals in the Open Water Swim. After including all the sprints for Olympic program, we'll have a total of 8-9 medals in Olympic events, with no gold. For me, that's a failure, plus the miss of any gold in the remaining events. Never in the history of the World Swimming Championships has someone won 10 or more medals and not a single gold. We're going for a record
  19. In my opinion, the only hope is that some local people found her in this valley and she's still alive there. But we'll find out tomorrow at the latest whether that's true, because getting to this valley isn't a big event—it's a well-known tourist area and a starting point for Karakorum trial mountains. We'll have to hope for a miracle
  20. I don`t know but I found one possible positive version on one of the Italian sites, which was not present in these previous sources: "Secondo un portavoce dei soccorsi, Faizullah Faraq, c'è la possibilità che l'atleta sia stata soccorsa anche da persone che si trovavano vicino al luogo della valanga, nella valle di Hushe"- There is a possibility that the athlete was also rescued by people who were near the site of the avalanche, in the Hushe valley. https://www.corriere.it/sport/25_luglio_29/laura-dahlmeier-biathlon-travolta-frana-pakistan-b51ca0fc-8edc-4280-b9eb-133d73262xlk.shtml
  21. Unfortunately, each day of delay reduces the chances of survival In the Alps, rescue operations are easier because there aren`t so many inaccessible places where a helicopter can`t reach aid. That's why I've always been terrified of those great mountains in Asia: the Himalayas and the Karakoram. I wouldn't go there even for a $1 million bonus.
  22. More or less the same as in Bild. If she survived the fall, it's tragic that she's been left without help for two days with temperatures under 0 at night. If she was located by helicopter, I don't understand why the rescue operation was halted? What are the procedures in Pakistan regarding this?
