  1. I think their daughter would be around 8 now. Xenia might be her name? It will be interesting to see if she takes up biathlon like her parents.
  2. I did see a Guro Femsteinevik for Norway. I am going to assume she is a sister of Martin and Ragnhid.
  3. Youth Individual today. Only 59 in the Youth Women 10k, and 62 in the Youth Men 12.5k. For comparison, there were 96 who finished the Youth Women Individual last year, with 99 who started. The Youth Men Individual had 112 last year. Notable absent nations are France, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine on the Youth side of things. Multiple other smaller nations are not attending. 2022 Youth Nations - Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Greenland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, United States. 2021 Youth Nations - Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Great Britain, Greece, Germany, Greenland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, United States When the Junior lists come out later today I will post the same for that.
  4. Tiril Eckhoff about retirement - "“Ehhh … I don’t dare answer that. It’s a terrible time, and during this time I need to think about a few other things.” Marte Olsbu Roiseland - "I'm starting to get older. I need to think a little about what I want to do in the future. Biathlon is incredibly fun. I just wish I was younger. This was probably my last Olympics. It's been a long journey to get here, I've been doing it for years. I need to have something to choose from after the Olympics. And this is what I will be looking for after the Holmenkollen." Sporting Director Per Arne Botnan - "Of course, we hope that they [Eckhoff and Roiseland] want to continue for a while, and Tarjei said that he will probably stick on another season or two." Dorothea Wierer - "Everyone dreams of taking part in the Olympic Games at home. But you have to be realistic. I don't know if I'll make it there" As for retirement "she will think about it after the season."
  5. It might be live in the US. Normally it is clearly mentioned that it will be blocked in the US.
  6. Austrian Team: Jugend Damen: Anna Andexer, Selina Heigl, Anna Maria Schrempf, Lena Pinter Jugend Herren: Lukas Haslinger, Fabian Müllauer, Daniel Glaßer, Andreas Domes Juniorinnen: Lea Rothschopf, Lara Wagner, Lisa Osl Junioren: Benedikt Foidl, Christian Langegger, Pascal Lienbacher, Maximilian Prosser
  7. Actually pretty pleased with the US results in the Olympics. Irwin and Reid, plus Schommer, Brown and Doherty. That is a good solid core.
  8. My sister is volunteering at the Junior/Youth World Champs this week. Fresh snow fell today. It is supposed to be 7 degrees F on Thursday morning.
  9. Just for comparison - The 1960 Olympic Biathlon was held at McKinney Creek just outside of Squaw Valley, CA at an elevation of 6700' or 2042 meters! Granted it was only one race, the Individual, and in a classic ski technique. I just wanted to add that historical fact there. Not sure if it really adds anything to the discussion, but who knows.
  10. According to LeMatin.ch Irene Cadurisch (30) experienced circulatory problems and was unable to reach the transition zone. Swiss Olympic is reassuring about the state of health of Irene Cadurisch (30 years old): “She is back in the Olympic village, her circulatory problems are under control, and she is better. From now on, disappointment prevails."
  11. Not sure if this deserves a separate thread. Retirements - USA - Susan Dunklee and Claire Egan - Both announced this prior to the season. I assume there are a few others that I am not aware of. Speculations: Simon Eder? Tarjei Boe?
  12. Leif Nordgren is a father, his first child, a daughter was born a few days ago. https://www.facebook.com/CaitlinNapoleoniMyNBC5/posts/517833296631931
  13. The Green Bay Packers did a nice thing for some of the members of the US biathlon team from Wisconsin.
  14. Valentina Semerenko has left the Olympics. She was injured in the 15km Invitational. This might end her career.
  15. Sorry for being late to the game on this. But, the commentary on the Olympic Channel is pretty weak. I do not think they have the background in the sport. The races have been good.
  16. A really good first two races for the United States! Also, two really good races overall.
  17. I wonder how this one will work, but Belarus has told their athletes that they are not allowed to talk to the media. Officially they will only be able to talk to media from Belarus. There is a good chance that we will see one Belarus medal, how do they avoid talking to the press in the press conference? That could be really odd.
  18. Pretty epic conditions at Arber today. I have never seen the mats almost blow away before. Course looks like a good one.
  19. Otepaa will have spectators! "The organizers of this new stage scheduled in Estonia from March 10 to 13 have put several thousand tickets on sale. They got the green light from the authorities to accommodate 6,000 fans a day. Foreign spectators are also welcome provided they have received covid treatment (minimum two injections) or in the presence of a certificate of recovery."
  20. Cervenka just missed it and ended up in 12th place.
  21. Cervenka goes 0-0 in the sprint! He might be able to hold onto the 10th spot.
  22. France has announced their squad for the Junior World Championships. They are not sending a team for the Youth Championships. Men: Rémi Broutier (Bauges SN – Savoie) 🇫🇷 Jacques Jefferies (SC les Gets – Mont Blanc) 🇫🇷 Paul Fontaine (SC Grand Bornand – Mont Blanc) 🇫🇷 Oscar Lombardot (ES Saugette – Jura Massif) 🇫🇷 Gaëtan Paturel (SNC Pays Rochois – Mont Blanc) 🇫🇷 Substitute: Damien Levet (SC Grand Bornand – Mont Blanc) 🇫🇷 Women: Fany Bertrand (Méribel – Savoy) 🇫🇷 Camille Coupé (CS La féclaz – Savoie) 🇫🇷 Océane Michelon (Bauges SN – Savoie) 🇫🇷 Noémie Remonnay (SC Oye and Pallet – Massif Jurassien) 🇫🇷 Jeanne Richard (SC Les Gets – Mont Blanc) 🇫🇷 Substitute: Coralie Langel (SC Mont Noir -Massif Jurassien) 🇫🇷
