  1. Had to feel bad for Avvakumova. Right at the start she broke her pole yesterday.
  2. Grossman is in the WC squad and Joanna Reid is in at the IBU Cup this weekend. Reid finished in 19th, 2:39 behind with 3 misses. Not quite sure why Reid stayed in Brezno-Osrbile.
  3. Nothing like Paulsen, who was in his first international race since the Lenzerheide Junior World Championshsips on 2020 winning his first senior race.
  4. Lebanon hosted cross country and biathlon races back in the 1960s. The CISM races were there in the mid 1960s.
  5. Races this week in Brezno: Short Individual Sprint Pursuit
  6. Races this week: Two sprints Single Mixed Relay Mixed Relay
  7. Fun fact, I am currently sitting in the basement at the USBA office and the guy who wrote this article and I just talked. Now back to our regularly schedule discussion.
  8. Congrats to Mongolia. The US women only have one starter, Susan Dunklee, and the US men only have 3.
  9. He was having a good season. I wonder if he will be able to do some training while in quarantine?
  10. I know that both Antholz and Hochfilzen are essentially German venues. It is like Minsk, Oteppa and Finland are psudo-Russian venues. Oberhof looks really sad today.
  11. The only way that happens is if either Austria, France of Czech Republic put up stupid money for advertising. Outside of that, Germany keeps both weeks.
  12. US will not be going to Rupholding but will be in Martell.
  13. Condolences to the Czech Biathlon Community.
  14. I would happily have him in the US camp. No question. Not sure if he would beat out the top 4 this go around, but he would be in there for the 2026, no question. A core of Paul Schommer, Jake Brpwm, Cervenka and him ... I could get hopeful about that group.
  15. Seems like they will send their B team, so they can still try an maintain their spot in the nations cup race.
  16. Belgian Thierry Langer broke his foot during a training session and will miss January. He is trying to be back for Feb and the Olympics. I also read that Roseland will skip Anthotz as well.
  17. Russian Cup 2nd Men's Sprint - 2nd Women's Sprint -
  18. His mom was a 1992 Olympian for the Czech National Team. His father is a really well respected coach in the Minnesota area. Thanks Czech Republic!
  19. I have also wondered if Norwegian biathletes look at this as a pride thing. I am sure quite a few of them have relatives living in the US, but that would be admitting tha they were not strong enough.
  20. Preuss will be out until at least mid-January from her fall on the stairs that kept her out of last weeks races will also keep her out of Oberhof.
  21. Pretty good explanation of Olympic Spots here. The US has four athletes qualified for Beijing. Men: Jake Brown Paul Schommer Women: Clare Egan Susan Dunklee Potential Qualifiers: Max Durtschi (Ketchum, Idaho/Team Crosscut & USBA) Vasek Cervenka (Grand Rapids, Minn./National Guard Biathlon & USBA) Maxime Germaine (Anchorage, Alaska/National Guard Biathlon) Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H./National Guard Biathlon & USBA) Leif Nordgren (Hinesburg, Vt./National Guard Biathlon & USBA) Hallie Grossman (South Burlington, Vt./Craftsbury Green Racing Project) Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Craftsbury Green Racing Project) Amanda Kautzer (Plymouth, Minnesota/Team Crosscut) Deedra Irwin (Pulaski, Wis./National Guard Biathlon & USBA) Joanne Reid (Grand Junction, Colo.) Process: in a time trial qualification event in Arber, Germany, followed by the IBU Cup 4 in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia, Jan. 8-9. The final athlete nominations to the U.S. Olympic Team will be announced on Jan. 9.
  22. Matvey Eliseev has stopped competitions for at least the next 4 months. "For me the priority is my health. I am going to take exams in Moscow to understand what is not working in my body. I want to do everything to get back to my best level." He hopes to compete at the Russian Championships in Tyumen in late March. IBU Cup biathlete Ruslan Bryhadyr had a positive doping test.
  23. I would take Hauser and Leitner with good shooting for the win. Not the best event in terms of quality teams.
