  1. Ukraine has removed "Olga Abramova, Ekaterina Bekh and Oksana Moskalenk, three biathletes of Russian origin, had been dismissed from the national team of Ukraine , officially because they did not did not "meet the criteria" established internally. Unofficially, it is their country of origin that poses a problem."
  2. No idea. I think that she will be on the WC circuit. The Swiss have 4 entries to each race.
  3. Martin Perrillat Bottonet has retired. "It's my turn to bow out with a career full of emotions, good and bad times followed by two years of nightmare due to overtraining, from which I did not recover, here is the main reason for my departure .. the desire, the motivation and the heart were gone. I would like to thank all my friends with whom I experienced these magical moments, my club and committee coaches for all the support they gave me. The page is now turned, room for the continuation and courage for all the others."
  4. Gasparin Selina 1984 König Seraina 2001 Wallimann Lorena 2001 Weger Benjamin 1989 Susanna Meinen and Eligius Tambornino are both absent from any team. Not sure what has happened there.
  5. Austria has a new men's coach. Vegard Bitnes, who recently coached the US team has crossed the Atlantic to coach Austria.
  6. Bunch of news today: The Summer of 2023 will see a formal Summer Biathlon Series. Blink, Martin Forcade Nordic Festival and the Summer Biathlon Championships will be a part of it. It also implies that there will be other events. Jakov Fak has announced that he will continue for at lest one more season. ""He told me he was going to continue until the next Olympics, but I don't know if he was being completely honest when he told me that," laughs Janez Maric , coach of the national team." Remo Krug has been announced as the new Swiss Men's Coach. The former German and Austrian coach brings a long history of biathlon coaching experience. Dorothea Wierer, this time in an interview that I can link to, continued to be non-committal for next season. She explained that as she came from a rather larger family, she has always wanted to have one herself. - "At the moment it's more yes than no, but I still have to clear my head and completely disconnect before making the final decision. When you reach the end of your career and you have won more than you thought, doubts arise and you ask yourself questions. Many write to me and ask me to continue. I'm happy, it's an extra boost, because it means they care about biathlon as much as I do." "Since my marriage to Stefano I have been happy in my life, I have found the right person. It is really important to feel happy every day and even when traveling. The question is how much longer am I going to lead this life. I grew up in a large family and having my own has always been my dream."
  7. Swiss Championships: Men's Mass Start - Benny Weger and Jeremy Finello shared the title. Women's Mass Start - Susanna Meineni won followed by Lena Haecki and Flurina Volken. Men's Spring - Benny Weger won ahead of Elgius Tambornino.
  8. Scott Gow is retiring. Selina Gasparin brought out the retro biathlon gear for her last race. That is her daugher giving her a hug at her final shooting.
  9. Looks like it was an April Fool's Prank. Sorry that I took it hook, line and sinker.
  10. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen has been offered the coaching job for the Russian Biathlon Union.
  11. Martin Perrillat-Bottonet is retiring. The former French Junior has ended his career.
  12. Looks like Wierer is calling it a career. I am not on Instagram, but it appears that she posted something there.
  13. Norwegian Women's A Team: Dames : Tiril Kampenhaug Eckhoff, Fossum IF Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Fossum IF Ida Lien, Simostranda IL Marte Olsbu Røiseland, Froland IL Karoline Knotten, Vingrom IL Ragnhild Femsteinevik, Hålandsdal IL Women B Team Karoline Erdal, Førde IL Jenny Enodd, Budal IL Åsne Skrede, Geilo IL Juni Arnekleiv, Dombås IL Marte Kråkstad Johansen, Bossmo & Ytteren IL Emilie Ågheim Kalkenberg, Skonseng UL Women U23 Frida Dokken, Svene IL Maren Bakken, Os IL Synne Owren, Vingrom IL Gro Njølstad Randby, IL Ivrig Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide, Markane IL Emilie Flo Stavik, Markane IL Men B Team Johannes Dale, Fet Skiklubb Sverre Dahlen Aspenes, Skatval Skilag Aleksander Fjeld Andersen, Geilo IL Endre Strømsheim, Bærums Skiklubb Vetle Rype Paulsen, Lier IL Vebjørn Sørum, Søndre Ål Sportsklubb Men U23 Mats Øverby, Lier IL Martin Uldal, Birkenes IL Martin Nevland, Figgjo IL Jørgen Solhaug Sæter, Os IL Isak Leknes Frey, Bærums Skiklubb Andreas Aas, Birkenes IL Erland Bjoentegaard is nowhere to be found. Olsbu is still undecided on if she will continue.
  14. Megan Banks has retired. Erland Bjoentegaard is thinking hard about retiring. The Current IBU Big Globe winner was not selected in the top 6 for the Norwegian team. He has to have an uncle or something like that in the US. Swiss Championship 2 April - Mass Start 3 April - Sprint Last races for Selina Gasparin and Benny the Beard
  15. QFM was awarded with the French Legion of Honor. Also Julia Simon will not race this weekend at the French Championships due to her sore knee. There are a few weeks in December where the races will not be on the traditional weekend spot, the IBU decided to not go up against the World Cup of Soccer. Simon Eder hinted that he would return for another year a few weeks ago, has now confirmed that he will be back for another season. "It's still my dream job. I am convinced that I can perform for another year, he explains to VG . I'm still motivated to get into the top 10 once in a while. This must be my goal. It's hard to give up this life as a biathlete, I was a little afraid of that. With family and a few sponsors behind me, I see no reason to stop." Interesting Promo Event this weekend at Anthlotz, the Red Bull Doro Hunt. There will be 150 racers, and Wierer will start last. Every person who gets passed by her is eliminated. Their will be 5 rounds of 2k each. To make it Red Bull worthy it will include a slalom section, a hill to climb without poles. an ungroomed section, etc. It could be interesting.
  16. How did these nations think that they would get away with Flour Wax? It is pretty obvious when one is using it. Odd.
  17. IBU Cup Schedule Sprint (x11) Mixed Relay (x4) Single Mixed Relay (x4) Short Individual (x1) Individual (x2) Pursuit (x4) Mass Start 60 (x2) Super Sprint (x2) I actually like the Mixed Relays here. This is an understanding that many of the smaller teams would not be competitive, or even be able to field a full relay team. I also understand the Mass Start 60 at the IBU Cup level. It provides head to head development for more biathletes.
  18. French Championships: 1 April - U17 Mass Start Men and Women 2 April - U19 Mass Start Men and Women, Youth and Senior Men and Women Mass Start 3 April - Men and Women's Relay Norway has announced their top 6 males for Summer Training - Sivert Guttorm Bakken Filip Fjeld Andersen Johannes Thingnes Boe Sturla Holm Laegreid Vetle Sjaastad Christiansesn Tarjei Boe Missing of note is Johannes Dale he is on the B team with the following: Erlend Bjoentegaard, Aleksander Fjeld Andersen, Sverre Dahlen Aspenes, Martin Uldal, Vetle Paulsen, Vebjoern Soerum/Martin Mevland. That is a very strong reserve team.
  19. Russian Championships this weekend in Tuymen: 30 March - Sprint 31 March - Single Mixed and Mixed Relay 2 April - Women Relay, Mass Start Men 3 April - Mass Start Women, Men Relay Both Russian and Belarus will be there.
  20. I had not seen that. Eder might retire as well. That would not be good that the top two would both be retired.
  21. A few more National Championship Races: Slovenian National Championships - Klemen Bauer won in his last race. Nika Vindisar won for the women. Sweden National Championships (Sprint) - Stina Nilsson won with a 9/10 ahead of Mona Brosson who was 10/10. Viktor Brandt defeated his brother by just under 5 seconds.
