Here are some of the notes that I have regarding the Olympic event medal table:

318 out of the 329 events hosted in Paris 2024 is competed in Huangzhou.  The total gold medal count is 319 due to a two gold medals given in the men's 110 meters Hurdles as Kuwait and Japan both win gold for crossing the finish line at the same time.  South Korea's gold medals in Olympic events has been gradually decreasing since 2010.  Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have essentially swapped places in the medal table hierarchy. In past editions, it was Kazakhstan that usaully sits in the top 4, while Uzbekistan won an average of around 4-8 Olympic events in in previous Asian Games. Now, the tables have been turned as Uzbekistan have reap the benefits of their improvement in a number of sports, especially in Judo, Rowing, Cycling, Taekwondo, Fencing, etc, while maintaining supremacy in Boxing. Conversely, Kazakhstan have their worst ever performance at an Asian Games since their first participation in 1994.  Another country that is noted for improvement is Hong Kong. I believe that this is the most gold medals that they won in an Asian Games. Having Siobahn Haughey helps, but there are also other sports that they shown to be at an elite level, especially in Fencing, Sailing, Rugby and Rowing. Winning 4th place in men's football doesn't look bad for them as well. India's improvement has to be noted as well. India's pet sports such as Track and Field and Shooting carried them to their best performance in an Asian Games outside of their country. Even that, they could have done even better if their Boxing and Wrestling teams deliver at Huangzhou.  While Southeast Asian countries have shown improvement in Olympic sports, it must be said that their overall performance is still a bit underwheling considering that none of them won more than three Olympic events at Huangzhou, which does not bode well for any of these country's chances to do well in Paris.    While China is the undisputed number one country in Asia, I and I'm sure a number of people here don't believe that the gap between China and Japan is as big as the 144-44 gold medal count indicates. A full squad of A-tier athletes for Japan would have won a range of 70-80 events, while China's true ability should be around 120-135 gold medals in Olympic events.  With that being said, while Japan send B-tier athletes in a number of sports such as Track and Field, Judo, Gymnastics, Skateboarding, Volleyball and Tennis, their A-tier athletes did underachieve in Swimming, Shooting, Table Tennis, Canoeing and Rowing.  I will likely write up a blurb for the 2024 prospects of some of the countries that competed in Huangzhou in a couple of days.

Going by the assumption that Squash has a decent chance of part of the core programme once it gets in, here are my top 3 for :
    1. Darts (not on the list)
    2. Billiards (there would be some sort of deal to let top snooker and potentially pool players play)
    3. Netball

If we were to host again, I think the main focus would be to integrate "pub sports". Darts, similar to squash, has a large international appeal and would be one of the top revenue earners at the games. There is a slight lack of depth in the women's game for a 64 player field as well as a trans issue, but when the time comes for us to host again this should hopefully not be too much of a problem. The main problem though is the relationship between the amateur and the professional game, which is at an all time low. But if there's a strong urge for darts to be included, I'm sure the PDC would be able to enter a loose partnership with the WDF.

    Hmm... interesting question.

Honestly, I wouldn't add any new sport.
There are already too many strange new sports and events so I wouldn't like to add more.

Tbh, I don't follow ANY of the sports which are mentioned in the first post in this thread.
So if they are added to the programme, I wouldn't watch them much so from my personal point of view they are not important.

Globally I believe baseball/softball deserves to be in the olympics, it was there few times, I didn't watch it but I think this sport suits to the olympics.

Joking a bit - while watching Asian Games I really enjoyed dragon boats races, so this could be it for me. But I don't know if anybody practices this sport outside Asia.

Ok, maybe squash could be nice... I don't know.

More important for me would be adding quota for some classic sports (road cycling, canoe sprint and slalom, fencing for sure, but I think also rowing, swimming, artistic gymnastics, athletics...).

Rugby XVs would be great but I honestly don't know if it is possible.

And I would like to see some events coming back - M K4 1000m in canoe sprint, M C2 in canoe slalom, W 500m and M 1km TT in track cycling.

I don't exactly know which sports and events I would get rid of, but i can say which sports i rather don't watch or hardly watch when nothing else is going on or I watch only when POL athletes are performing:
    trampoline gymnastics,
    modern pentathlon,
    artistic swimming,
    taekwondo,
    equestrian dressage,
    field hockey,
    water polo,
    open water swimming,
    wrestling,
may be sth else i forgot now,
but i can't say i want to get rid of them because I know these sports have their fans.

From new sports I'm sceptic about breaking, but we will see how it goes in Paris. In Europan Games it was boring for me.

    Baseball/Softball (including women's baseball and men's softball).

I'd like to see lacrosse, but as mentioned before it is definitely not Olympic ready.

Maybe ice hockey so we can guarantee NHL players

I think olympic program is now too big, so in my opinion is no good to add new sports. Instead, i like to remove someone: skating, artistic swimming, trampoline, breaking are better out of the games.

If i need to choose someting, i think its' better to improve rugby, from 7 to 15. Then, baseball/softball and karate would have to right to compete. No other, please no other

Inspired by @Makedonas comment & @rafalgorka interesting new topics I have created this thread for fun to suggest 3-5 sports can be added to the program if your country hosting the Olympics

Easy, Futnet (Football Tennis) & Hokejbal (Ball Hockey) and we return C2 in Canoe Slalom add gazillion of quotas there to have also Team events, add K4-1000m in Canoe Sprint and Foot-Golf while we are at it. Point.

But, yeah, even if nothing is certain in this world, Slovakia not hosting the Olympics, Summer, is definitely one thing which absolutely is

    1) None of these sports are confirmed until the session, correct? So there is still a chance that one or two of these team sports will be left off.

    2) I agree that adding four team sports will inflate the athlete quota and cost some individual sports quota spots.

    3) Some random thoughts...

Flag Football - I think people need to understand that American tackle football and flag football are actually two completely different sports. A team of "pro" flag players would wipe the floor with a team made up of NFL guys. Also, flag in the United States is driven by the female market. So many girls are playing flag that colleges and high schools now have teams. The biggest flag football league in the United States, USA Flag, caters all of their tournaments towards women. Women get better game times and fields at these tournaments. Also, an eight team tournament could be done in two days. Finally, the US teams don't exactly dominate flag football. The Mexican women won gold at the last World Games, and flag is a sport where athletes from other countries can pick up and excel easily if given enough time to fine-tune their skills. Pretty much checks all of the IOC's boxes.
Cricket - I think it's pretty cool that cricket has a shot at inclusion in the Games. How did we not see this coming with the IOC session being in India, and the 2032 games in Australia? I understand that there is a ton of money involved, but it's nice to see something not so Euro-centric get the nod. I'm sure the US press will have fun covering it. Interested to see what the US team will look like.
Squash - Speaking of getting nods. It's nice to see the sport on the verge of getting in after so many tries. It's almost like a reversal of the IOC's youth and urban agenda - as Squash tends to be a country club sport in the States.
Baseball/Softball - Might be the last time we see these two on the program for maybe ever. Why not just go out with a bang and bring in MLB players? The game is global enough to do that. Just move the All-Star break to August. The MLB season already goes to November as it is. Might be the WBSC only hope to keep the sports on future programs.
Lacrosse - This one is a head-scratcher for me, especially with the limit on athlete quotas. I didn't think the LAOC was going to go with three "American sports" on the program, and fully believed that lacrosse - which is an east coast dominant sport, btw - was the odd man out. It's not nearly as global as any of the other sports vying for spots. Regardless, 6's is cool and should be fun to watch, just hate to see other individual sports getting their quotas cut.

That's my same thought about Greece

I think "we won't qualify in any of these so I do not care"

I will say it's sad that we didn't really have the option to choose to add "sports" in 2004 as the host nation, we could have swept the podium in backgammon for example

GBR are reigning European champions, and the coming force in WOMEN'S European flag football. They are not all that close among the men,

In Softball GB are already in the ballpark but it is baseball, bizarrely, where GB seem to be making strides - most might have predicted basketball to kick on rather than baseball...

We should be in good stead for quotas in those sports too. We almost qualified for Softball at Tokyo, losing to Italy in the European final. Are baseball team also recently won silver at the European championships and have competed in the World Series and will be competing in the next one in 2026. In terms of Flag Football, I read somewhere that we have a competitive team and will be one of the favourites for the European quota.
