  1. Article on Pita: https://sports.yahoo.com/tongan-flag-bearer-one-race-away-qualifying-winter-olympics-182933769.html
  2. Same but its -25 celsius here on a consistent basis
  3. Hockey without a doubt is #1. Short track is second, very fun sport to watch on tv and better in person (these athletes are so fast!). Biathlon is surprisngly third for me, its very interesting to watch as anything can happen.
  4. They only won 2 in Toronto, wow. Maybe they will win 5-6 this time around, but I can also see it going the other way around.
  5. Very odd, but maybe it will raise the standards?
  6. will likely only use 2 spots in 500, 1000, and 1500 for women. The quotas would then fall too , , respectively. As for the men, its likely only 2 spots in the 1500m will be used, meaning would gain a quota. More will be know after the trials between Jan 4th and 9th.
  7. Peru chose Basque pelota and bodybuilding. However, surfing was their primary choice, but that was auto added because of its addition to Tokyo 2020. Canada didn't choose a sport in 2015, but rather a event (women's baseball), which has been dropped from Lima 2019.
  8. Water skiing is actually a cool sport, I got to experience it live in 2015 at the Pan American Games. Canada usually does well as well, so that doesn't hurt For 2019, women will compete in wakeboarding for the first time. As for bodybuilding it is only 2 events (one men and one women, 16 athletes each). Nothing like in the Asian Games where they had 10 weight categories.
  9. Not counting LA... and for overall medals one more from Rio will do the trick
  10. Wow all of Canada's medals are won by women (one by a mixed team). I think 2020 is going to be a breakout year for Canada. Most medals ever perhaps? (Then again with all the new events, this might be the case for some other nations)
  11. 13 years ago the Indian Ocean tsunami hit, one of the biggest natural disasters to hit the globe in recent memory.
  12. Surfing is not being held at those respective continental games.
  13. Weightlifting wildcards http://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2017/12/Universality-Places_Selected-NOCs.pdf
  14. The combined one is personally and the downhill I remember reading here somewhere,.. it wasn't posted by me.
  15. I think its actually the FIS. Also earlier it was reported that the FIS wanted a 2 run downhill. Which means the Super G will be under threat too (if the FIS makes this a 2 run event as well). THis is being done to "increase television viewers" It also increases the ability for places without high enough mountains to host too... which is a problem for the IOC right now.
  16. Hayley Wickenheiser, greatest women's hockey player ever, perhaps? 4 time Olympic gold medalist and one time silver medalist.
  17. Got it from a source that alpine combined is going to be dropped from the Olympics. I would assume the FIS will want to replace it, perhaps with a parallel event?
  18. We have 88 + Olympic Athlete from Russia (89) nations qualified so far. These will qualify Nigeria Jamaica Should qualify: Ghana Tonga Just outside qualification and need better results Paraguay Tajikistan Venezuela (though her results are getting worse....) Algeria Toss up on qualification Trinidad and Tobago Nepal ??? North Korea If everyone above qualifies that would be 100! nations
  19. Birmingham to host the 2022 Commonwealth games.
