  1. So, I will just throw a slight note of caution here because I think our diving team is actually a step or two behind what they achieved last year - at least in the Olympic classes. In Fukuoka, we won 3 silver medals. In Doha, with 2 more Olympic events to go, are sitting with 1 silver and 3 bronze and some of our biggest medal prospects haven't been at their best. On the upside, where they've needed to, they have done to secure the quotas for Paris.
  2. Quotas for & miss out by less than 1 point.
  3. Jinxed it - scores drop to 6.5 in the final round. Still done enough for the quota though.
  4. Whenever BBC Scotland cover domestic curling, it is always done on a shoestring budget. It really is cringe worthy.
  5. With 1 round to go, and should be pretty safe for a quota. The other 2 should be shared between or .
  6. Hopefully this won't be a jinx, but Tom Daley hasn't scored less than 8.5 from any judge across his 5 rounds of dives. Safe to say he is well and truly back
  7. Halfway through the men's 10m synchro: 189.48 - Down 18 points on 2023 score. 187.08 - Up 11 points on 2023 score. 177.12 - 167.17 - Up 4 points. 165.12 - Down 9 points. 164.70 - Up 57 points. 160.44 159.84 - Down 12 points. Currently quotas for but long way to go.
  8. I think they were referring to the fact that there was no continental quota for Europe in the team event as opposed to continental quota for the duet which as you say went to Austria.
  9. The 1st Boxing Qualifier is now scheduled to start on 3rd March instead of 4th March. The extra day has been added due to high volume of entries.
  10. Entry list won't be confirmed until the Boxing Entries Check is performed 1st Mar.
  11. 668 athletes have registered for the tournament - obviously way more than they expected as they have had to put in an extra day of competition. No are taking part but there are 2 in these initial numbers. Final entries to be confirmed 1st March.
  12. And what about the individual spots? Will Bouyer and Bisch be selected as they won the quotas?
  13. Looking at the men's 3m springboard competition, I think we are probably sitting at between 24-27 quotas: I think it is likely that will end up taking 3 athletes in the 3m events. Wang Zongyuan is pretty much nailed on to do both synchro and individual, whilst Siyi Xie is likely to be favourite to get the nod for the second individual spot. The only question then is whether Xie doubles up in the synchro but given Zongyuan and Daoyi are well established pairing, I can see the team replicating their 2012 and 2016 approach and taking 3 athletes. For , Joules Bouyer and Alexis Jandard will likely take the synchro spot and I'd be 90%+ certain that Bouyer will also be in the individual. When it comes to the second spot, Jandard will need to fight it out against Bisch. With , we have our established synchro pairing of Laugher and Harding and that won't change as we go forward to Paris. Laugher is also likely to take one of the individual spots. Competition for the second individual spot will probably be among the most intense in the diving squad with at least 3-4 names very much in the mix. At this point, I'd say it is more likely than not that we will use 3 quotas in this event. Finally, for , the depth of their squad always makes it difficult to guess what their team will look like but again, I think it is likely they'll end up with 3 athletes on springboard. I don't think we should read too much into their results from Doha - they already had the full set of quotas from Fukuoka so didn't really need to peak for this week.
  14. I had considered her as a possibility but when I went back through the domestic results, Cheng is consistently scoring well down on Toulson. That, coupled with the way that the GB selection document is written, gives Cheng her very little chance in my opinion.
  15. I thought host quotas were only available for the synchro events?
  16. As things stand, I think there are 26 individual athletes we can confidently say are going to be in the women's 10m platform events in Paris - this is likely to be an event where it is pretty safe to assume that the synchro athletes will also be selected for the individual event where they have qualified.
  17. Looking at the 3m prelims, it looks like Laugher was scheduled to go for his hardest dive in the 4th round - forward 2.5 somersaults with 3 twists in pike, but he had a problem with his hurdle step which meant he was pitched forward. Although it looked like he got the somersaults in, he had to do them in tuck position and he didn't have enough height to be able to put in the twists hence the 0 score. It's a shame - had it happened in the 3rd round, I think he would have been able to score enough points to get him into the semi finals.
  18. Looks like some national federations have interpreted the qualification document as requiring an absolute top 12 finish to secure the quota whilst others are interpreting the requirement as being in the top 12 of athletes not already qualified. In the end it will all be the same - it just means that some countries are celebrating earlier than others. Hopefully World Aquatics will take it into account when they draft the qualification document for LA.
  19. By his standards I'd agree - Laugher would probably expect to be in the medals in the synchro and in the final in the individual as a minimum - but it's pretty amazing to think that with only 5 counting dives, he was only 8 or 9 points away from a place in the semi-finals. Excluding the Chinese (who could probably make a semi with only 4 counting dives), there's not many divers in the world who could get that close.
  20. In what has been an otherwise fairly decent World Champs so far from an organisation point of view, World Aquatics really need to do something about managing the diving start lists - having 70 athletes competing is beyond ridiculous.
  21. Jack Laugher with a 0 in round 4. Thankfully Ross Haslam looks like he has done enough to get through to the semi-final and a likely Olympic quota.
  22. I don't think that he has been specific about his plans - he wasn't in the individual event at British selection meet in December but that may just have been because he wasn't back up to full speed on his training.
  23. Lois Toulson will get the second quota. Although Eden Cheng won the quota at the European Games, without being disrespectful, she is generally about 20-30 points behind Toulson. From GB perspective, think the women's 10m platform pairing will definitely double up but there is a chance in the other 3 disciplines that they select 3 athletes: Women's 3m: Harper and Mew-Jensen will be the synchro pairing and will be favourites for the individual spots but it is possible that Grace Reid could sneak into the squad as an individual. Men's 3m: Laugher and Harding will go in the synchro and assuming that Laugher is fully recovered from knee injury he'll also be in the individual. There could be a bit of a fight for the second individual spot with Harding, Houldan and Goodfellow all in the mix. Men's 10m platform: Assuming they qualify here, the synchro pairing will be Daley and Williams. If Daley wants to double up, then he would be favourite for a spot in the individual but if not then Kyle Kothari (competing in the individual in Doha) could be on the squad, but there are quite a few platform divers who are all capable of scoring around mid-400s. The GB selection policy gives an individual quota to the British Champion but the second spot is at the discretion of the selection panel taking into account performances at the British Champs and the 3 stages of the Diving World Cup.
  24. I'm not as pessimistic as that - in my opinion France have a decent shot at getting the last quota but it does need everything to work in their favour. First, they need Mexico to win the continental champs ahead of Canada. That would give Canada an additional 607.5 points, giving them an adjusted lead over France of 168.75. Then, at both of the remaining Nations Cups, France would likely need to finish at least 2 places higher than Canada.
  25. Currently yes - but bear in mind that the score for the European and African nations are inflated by the inclusion of their continental championships whilst their nearest competition - Canada and New Zealand still have theirs to come. By the end of this month, Oceania and Asian continental champs will have taken place but we have to wait until early April for the Pan-American champs.
