  9. I've tried my best to look at this competition from a neutral perspective. I have to say I'm surprised with a silver medal for Rebeca. She didn't lose the gold medal; she earned the silver medal. The same can be said about Lee: she won because she hit, not because Rebeca didn't perform her best routine. This is how this sport works and there's a strong mental game going on. Lee was stronger in the mental game and this deserves all the praise in the world. It's not fair to compare Lee to anyone else that came before her. She's the Olympic champion and she deserved it. Period. Now, Rebeca had an awesome day. Her uneven bars routine was one of the best she has performed in her life and much, much better than the one in qualifications. Her vault and her floor were not the best, but they still received strong scores. That silver medal is a huge accomplishment on itself and given how close the competition was, I'm really surprised Rebeca managed to win it. I believe Melnikova had a score on floor much higher than she actually deserved. She had several small mistakes that most people can't immediately see, but those who know about how gymnastics is scored can see. Urazova deserved the bronze medal, in my opinion, but it wouldn't have made any difference for Russia overall, so there's not much point in arguing about this. The thing is I've always thought Melnikova is overscored and today it wasn't any different. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the results, of course, and even though this was not a gold medal for Brazil, it was still our first medal. Our national program is miles behind the US and Russian programs, so the fact that we even got a medal at all is mindblowing for me.

  10. First. Thank you very much guys for all your support, I really appreciate it. Your cheer was even better than the medal for me. Second. Congrats to for the first medal and finally third to answer you You know I believe that if you do not expect many you can not be disappointed but if you expect nothing you can be only pleasantly surprised. However this technique was not really applicable here, because I honestly did not expect a medal from Zuzana, If the games were last year she would be my favorite for medal for sure, but that covid extra year appeared to hurt her (and our shooters in general) a lot. However, happy for her. 3rd Olympics and 3rd medal, after 2 silvers now a gold and plus a briliant world record in the qualifiers

  11. Now just staying on to watch Orozco in the final. No matter what place he finishes, he will now obtain the best result for a Mexican male shooter since our first and only medalist (Gustavo Huet) medalist in the sport at LA 1932

  15. After Day 6 Rio: 94/306 events, 55 NOCs with medals After Day 6 Tokyo: 112/339 events, 66 NOCs with medals Consistent medalling by the top guns once again. with an improvement (11-8-11 in Rio) until this point while the Americans have gone down slightly (16-12-10 in Rio) due to dominating less in the pool this time. Almost the same nations in the Top 10 now as five years ago. Only Hungary (5-1-1 in Rio) not finding themselves in that list right now. Instead we have the French in 8th (11th in Rio with 2-4-5 in medals). Croatia now one bronze better (2-0-0 in Rio) and there's a guaranteed gold and silver coming their way tomorrow. Alessandra Perilli wins San Marino's first ever medal! 4th place counter* (11) (8) (7) (6) (5) (4) (3) (2) (1) and the Refugee Olympic Team *5th places in events that award two bronze medals

  44. @heywooduas I promised: The weightlifting coach actually called me via WhatsApp and I was unprepared So yeah they intentionally put in Rahmat in B Group. The hamstring injury when he was warming up for C&J made them changed the lift.. He was originally prepared for 185 - 190 - 193 in C&J. He also shared how the motivation part were also the aspect they take seriously. Rahmat shares the room with his father (the balding guy wearing glasses in black - if you still remember). His father was going to Athens 2004 but withdrew just before the Games due to an injury, and his father shouted to him "Remember son this is the Olympic, I haven't tasted it" at the 3rd C&J lift. On the other hand, Windy shared a room with Sri Indriyani (Sydney 2000 bronze), and Sri was asked to share how she persevered despite having injury during her lifts in Sydney.
