  4. The season has ended and I'm back traditionally with some medal table stats. Norway blew everyone out of the water this year, with 83 podium finishes in all and 38 of them were gold. This is miles better compared to 2019/20 season where Norway had 55 podium finishes with 32 gold medals. It seems that Norway compensated mostly with silvers and bronzes and were met with huge success in both the men's and the women's side with 8 different Norwegian athletes getting on the podium at some point and 7 of them scoring wins as well. Though where someone is celebrating such huge success, there has to be a country that suffered for it. France is still second in the medal table, but in 2019/20 they've had 51 podium finishes, four away from Norway, but only 15 of them were gold. This year though, the number went down by a lot, 34 podium finishes, but the gold amount stayed relatively the same at 12. Really, this hit can be somewhat explained by Martin Fourcade's retirement and even though the French boys really tried to hold their own, last season there was only one individual race where a French athlete didn't stand on the podium, whilst this year it happened in 12 races on the men's side. The women performed pretty much on par to their expectations, though Braisaz and Bescond didn't find any success this year. We have a new third place this year and it's the biggest overperformers of the season, nearly trippling their amount of podium finishes. The men's, the women's side and even the relays were filled with podium after podium and in the end five different athletes did it for Sweden. They smashed their 13 (2 gold) podium record from last season with a 31 podium finish this season, with three different race winners, victories in both the men's and the women's relay as well as the mixed too, tallying up to 8 golds. Recording 12 podiums out of 18 relay races this season, the team was led by Hanna Oeberg and Sebastian Samuelsson and it could have been even better, but the Oeberg sisters really shut down in the second half of the season. In fourth place we have what people probably think is an unhappy Germany, but they actually nearly replicated their result from last season, down two podiums and 1 gold, they finished the season with 20 podium finishes and three victories, two of them coming from the relays and one from recently retired Peiffer. He was definitely the shining star on the men's side this year, especially since Doll had an abyssmal season by his standards. On the women's side, Franziska Preuss and her consistency really carried the team with Herrmann stepping up a bit near the end of the season, but not able to replicate her three wins from the last one. In fifth place we have Russia that marginally improved from last season. The podium count is still 7, but this time they exchanged one gold to three and that comes from Loginov and two relay races. Actually, most damage that Russia did this year was on the relays, because they only scored two individual podiums this year and there was nothing promising on the women's side at all. In sixth place we have somewhat of a fall from grace with Italy down from 3rd place last season. Although they didn't win that much gold, they only posted 1 less podium this season and they managed to find success in different places. Dorothea Wierer underperformed by her standards, but Lukas Hofer really stepped it up at the end of the season to put the men on the board with three individual podiums. In seventh place there is another hugely improved team and it's Austria with 9 medals and two golds. In comparison, last season Austria stepped on the podium only three times. Though we should use the term team liberally, because 8 of those podiums were achieved through Hauser that had the season of her life and one was the second place from Leitner, with hopes that perhaps he can keep improving and bring back some pride in the Austrian men team. 8th place is our final massive overperformer and it's Belarus with 8 podium finishes. Last season they didn't manage to be top 3 at all, but this year they found a lot of success through their women's team posting some great results in the relays as well as the team's leading stars Alimbekava and Sola getting on the podium a couple of times inidividually. Lastly, a brief overview of the other teams: In 2019/20 season there were 14 countries in the medal table and this year there's one less at 13. Finland, Estonia and Slovakia didn't manage to get on the podium this season, but there were two new countries, one of which was Belarus and the other was Slovenia with Fak. Out of those countries, Ukraine and USA performed up to their expectations and equaled the amount of podium finishes from last season. On the other hand, Switzerland and Czech Republic didn't have a good time and they both went from 5 medals last year, down to one this season. Lastly, the numbers this season are a bit inflated since there are 18 more podium winners this year, but the reapers of these rewards are Norway and Sweden with their huge increase in podium finishes this year.

  5. Nope, I'm not talking about the Kazakhstan sample, when you sample music it's literally the point that it's the same, because it's a sample, I have no problem with that, because they're not doing anything to hide their inspiration. There is a different song out there that thinks its slick.

  9. I believe the point was - How come fencing can have all these weapons, while archery must be limited to recurve only? And it is a very good point. For an average audience, recurve/compound are just a variation on the theme the same way foil/epee/sabre are.

  17. Very difficult, but not impossible. You have an archer ranked higher than some other countries, but experience and control play a great part in knock out matches. If he manages to surpass his performance from two years ago in Lima, then he might have a chance.

  18. In women's should get one of the 3 quotas, the other two spots should be contested by & Men could be an authentic bloodbath. While should be amongst the qualified NOC's, the other two tickets are open to archers from & , but one can't discard either or

  21. Already done at youth level. It's a format that doesn't take into account that the difficulty of scoring in each weapon is vastly different. This is like having a relay in athletics with a 100m, a 400m and a 1500m runner- that would simply be a 1500m with a small difference at the start, with 2 legs out of 3 irrelevant to the final result

  28. Exactly what I meant. 128 quotas for archery, 212 for fencing how unfair. And @Dunadan @phelps no matter what you put forward end of the day its wrong. Why should quotas be halved in archery? 36/64 belong to team so team event shouldn't be cancelled so 64 is fine for a sport older than fencing. Instead Fencing should have 128 quotas like archery 20*6 events with only top 3 nations in each discipline able to send 2 athletes if both in top 8 + 8 tripartite invitation and a mixed team event opossibly, ideally not required. Of the 84 saved quotas archery can take say 20-24 each gender. 12 events in fencing is way too much

  29. So lets look at my predictions for the African Qualifiers. expected quota in C1 for one of the Bourhis brothers. Celia Jodar quota aslo expected. The only surprise is the M K1 quota for I really did not expect that at all, really sad that Saramandif did not try to race also in the K1, pretty sure he would be able to beat the Franco-Moroccan guy, even if Souidi was exceptionally good there especially with his clean semifinal run, very well managed by the young Moroccan. so congrats for the quota then I guess. EDIT: He even finished 2nd in the whole race, so that some real achievement here.

Yes. But, we can either exchange in Men or Women, not both. It all depends on who is selected in 10m events. If Anjum is selected in 10m event (most likely case at present), Chinki’s quota will be swapped for a Shotgun quota. If Anjum is not selected in 10m, Chinki’s quota will be swapped for Anjum in 50x3. If Tomar is selected in 10m (unlikely), a Rifle quota will be swapped either in Trap or in 25m Pistol, if Anish/others fail to get the quota. But, in that case we will simply return Chinki’s quota.

  33. first of all, no quota was added to the Fencing program, as the team events have been added without adding new quota to those who were already there for the Individual event...they just adjusted the distribution of those spots... second, Fencing is the most historical discipline of the Games together with Athletics and Artistic Gymnastics...so, it was time to make up for that enormous injustice that the was the rotation of 4 out of 6 team events (and we're still talking of a sport with 12 competitions all together, when there are some other sports giving away tons of medals to the same athlete or tons of medals in general without having a true diversification between their disciplines)... I'm really tired of new sports without tradition and/or special features replacing the core of the Games I've always loved and I still love... it's absolutely a nonsense... third, team events in Fencing are not just the addition of some individual performance (like many other sports), therefore, if there are 2 sports where team events have their own nature and must be saved, those are Fencing (and Archery)... p.s. Compound Archery doesn't have anything to do with the true art of Archery, which has always been and always will be only the naked Archery (the current olympic event)...

  34. Not to forget he wasted quotas in having team event in each fencing discipline ridiculous when compound archery is still not given at least 20 quotas for individual event.

  43. Finally had the time to do the second listen. I am now down to 20 songs and I don't think that my top 3 is going to change in any way. I am also bitterly disappointed by the fact that there are two songs that would probably score points, but one isn't doing itself any favours being in English (the lyrics are just too painful) and one is just soooooooooo similar to another popular song that is executed a thousand times better and I can't unhear it every single time I put it on.

  44. Well I’m glad with today’s results at Dudince: 3 new quotas for Mexico, one in each Olympic event, plus a fourth man with the standard in 20k, plus 1-2 in that race and a sweep in women’s 20

  45. The voting lines are now open! The host jury just send their votes to neutral user. This means that all 36 nations are right now allowed to send votes to host jury member (@rybak). You have to chose 12 best songs according you and also 3 reserve songs in case if an nation would miss sending votes on time, which I believe won't happen . The deadline of voting is Friday, 2nd April at 23:00 Central European Summer Time (GMT+2). Good luck everyone!
