Out of curiosity, I listened to a few podcasts about Turkmenistan today. This country has very large deposits of natural gas. In the 1990s, a simple a ordinary people lived quite well there. In the early 21st century, Turkmenistan signed several unfavorable gas deals with China and has practically gone bankrupt since then. 1/3 of the population (about 2 million out of 6 million- mostly young people) emigrated, mainly to Turkey, India, etc. The future of this country is blacka and uncertain. I don't know what other options they have? Russia, Turkey, the EU? Of course, in terms of selling gas. Perhaps sanctions of Russia's and isolation due to the war in Ukraine would be a chance for Turkmenistan to establish economic relations with the EU, but the new president would probably have to loosen and a little liberate up his country's domestic politics. Or when you have a dictator that can mask number as he wish, if he can convince their people that a highly censored and restrictive land can host a competition like the Olympic Games, i'm sure he can convince no covid case was detected. One fun fact is that their guards and border control officers were very serious and strict with people from other nationalities when entering the country, but with us it was very different, they would look at our passport with serious face, look at the country, look at us, start smiling and say "Portugal?? Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!" This behaviour happened in every single checkpoint in every single Central Asia land. It's like a vip pass in this area of the world Olympian1010, Hipooo, konig and 1 other 1 2

Unfortunately not, there's a possibility that it could be this Sunday but I'm still unsure on whether I'll have to push this back by another week. The draw will be held on Thursday at 8pm GMT though. Also I'm still waiting on votes from @avlar, so if anyone could try and get ahold of him then that'd be grand. Bohemia, konig and mrv86
Cinnamon Bun 896 Posted November 7 Author #300 Share Posted November 7 Announcement: @Erigert @konig @brunamoura @Glen @Federer91 @Topicmaster1010 @ManuCHIL @Vic Liu @Hipooo @Wumo @Bohemia @Benolympique @Makedonas @maestro @Fer GUA @Vektor @Fly_like_a_don @Griff88 @OlympicIRL @Pablita @Henry_Leon @SteveParker @Werloc @mrv86 @Ionoutz24 @IoNuTzZ @heywoodu @Wanderer @rybak @kungshamra71 @NikolaB @justony @Cobi @Belle @amen09 @Memo @avlar @dezbee2008 I am pleased to announce that the Grand Final will take place on Sunday 10th November, with the opening ceremony taking place tomorrow night. However there are still a few things I need to go through before then. 1. There is still a distinct possibility that will have to be withdrawn from the contest. @avlar has still not sent his Jury votes and if he still hasn't done so by end of play Saturday then I will be forced to withdraw from the contest. To prepare for this outcome, I will message all of the jurors who have voted for but haven't named a reserve to replace them with to name one incase this happens. I will also do this to anyone who is placed below in the voting order as will still be included in the draw and the opening ceremony. 2. The time for the closing ceremony is subject to change as it all depends on when the main contest finishes. 3. The festival of music is still open but will close at 8pm GMT tomorrow so if anyone wants to put in a last minute entry you've got till then to do so, remember it's a maximum of 4 countries per juror. 4. I need some volunteers for the draw, so if anyone would like to come forward and help draw it out that would be much appreciated. There will be 2 separate draws, one for the running order and one for the team comp, and the draw will commence in around 15 minutes time.
