Germany only had 7 boats in Tokyo as well and they still have 6 chances to qualify here in B-finals + A-final in M8+.
I see good chances to qualify in W1x, M2x and medium chances for M8+, LM2x and W4x, so they could end up with 5-6 quotas  in the end which is more or less identical to Tokyo (one boat qualified in Lucern last time).

Just going by the quotas, yes, I agree. But Germany also won 2xGold and 1x Bronzen in the World Championships 2019. And barring big surprised from both the 8 and 4x, this will not happen here.

And in Tokyo it was only two silver medals. I think that we can agree that Germany is currently not at its best in rowing.

In 2012 Germany startet with all 14 boats and now they will be lucky if they manage to get 7 quotas for a second time in a row.

Comparison of Germany to Ireland since 2012

2012 :IRL 1 boat, 1 athlete - no medals :GER 14 boats, 48 athletes - 2 gold, 1 silver

2016 :IRL 3 boats, 5 athletes - 1 silver :GER  10 boats, 35 athletes - 2 gold, 1 silver

2020 :IRL  6 boats, 13 athletes - 1 gold, 1 bronze  :GER 7 boats, 24 athletes - 2 silver

2024 (so far) :IRL 5 boats, 10 athletes :GER 2 boats, 5 athletes

Obviously vastly different countries, but going in opposite directions

A medal for Mexico, in a non Olympic event, but still one :d

Congrats to Kenya Lechuga and I hope she can be selected for another boat class in the remaining qualifiers so she can compete at Paris.

Tomorrow big day for Dutch rowing. The Dutch Olympic champions in the M4x (Quadruple Sculls) will fight for a world title against last year's World Champs Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland. Since European skiff champion Lennart van Lierop entered the boat in June, things have started going well. It proves that one change can make a big difference.

This is - together with the women's skiff Karolien Florijn on Sunday - the biggest chance for a Dutch world title. :NED in 9 finals this weekend, very curious about the outcome.

Another A Final for our Olympic gold medalist Stefanos Ntouskos in M1X! This is now his 7th A Final in a row in a major championships (2020 Europeans, 2021 Europeans, 2021 Olympics, 2022 Europeans, 2022 Worlds, 2023 Europeans, 2023 Worlds).

Still think his Olympic gold was suspicious? @OlympicsFan

It’s suspicious he made seven finals in a row, only people who’ve made eight in a row usually win Olympic medals :P

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
