Curling Mixed Doubles Tournament at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

That was a great first session!  OK, not very good technically, but drama and excitement in every single match.  Going to have to revise my timetable slightly to watch a few more sessions.

Absolutely awesom. To be fair I had no faith on them after that bad power play in the 7th. Being 3-6 down before last end with NOR having last stone advantage.

Wow what an epic return. will follow this team closely, they seriously have potential to do something crazy in this tournament.

The recovery from team Paulova/Paul was absolutely incredible ..... They made their mistakes, too, when they let :NOR take the 6:3 lead. But the 8th end was something nobody would ever expect .... 6:6 and in the extra end. Tomáš Paul played nice pocket stone, Nedregotten unfortunately played bad stone on the top of red circle they could not even make a take out. So for Skaslien it was a very difficult situation.... they had to take the risk .... Anyways, I am super excited and happy for their victory today. First ever Olympic Game and first victory, moreover, very precious victory against bronze medalists from Pyeongchang. Really great job!!!

Anyone else feels the main graphics are too Christmassy with that cheesy animated snow? Pyeongchang had much more subtle snowflakes. :p

My aunt called me to notify the results and sent me the video of the last stone. A few hours before the match she told me “wtf is curling?”

Hahaha. #Curling is trending no.1 on Weibo now, after a big loss of football yesterday on the first day of Chinese new year, curling finally bring some holiday joy for leisure Chinese.

There is more snow on the graphics than on the ground.

I live in Dallas, Texas and it looks like we might get more snowfall tomorrow than Beijing will get the entire Olympics xD

They have to remind viewers what snowfall looks like because they sure won't see any during these Winter Games.

    • I really hope Nordic Combined doesn't get scrapped. Actually, I believe the Winter Olympics should keep growing with new sports and disciplines (3x3 Hockey, Ice Cross, Speed Skiing, Ice Climbing), otherwise they won't feel like a true celebration of sports like their summer counterpart.
    • In fact, well, no. Hockey is extremely physically demanding, I even think it is the most physically demanding winter sport of all. I mean keeping more than a minute on ice is just cardiac. The shifts are there for a reason.   25 players rosters are absolutely justified. You must have 4 lines to keep the stamina the whole game.   Hard to persuade people who never watched hockey though, I can understand your point, but sadly, the point is wrong
    • Stats are ok, but the time she losts on the range every time... My point was that she is more likely to make us losing the olympic relay than to make us winning it.
    • I'll jump on the off-topic with an unpopular opinion - ice hockey isn't so stamina demanding to justify 25 people rosters. And it doesn't have big playing fields like football or rugby for example, where you'd require so many reserves. 15 field players + 3 goalies should be good. Or 18+3 at max. But 25 is too much imo and the constant substitutes are too much as well.
    • But her shooting surely never was horrendous, or even bad for her standards.
