Giovanni Gianni Cattaneo reacted to phelps in Men's Field Hockey Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
if they didn't change the rules lately, it's England the only British team entitled to earn a spot and then, in case, play the Olympic Tournament...
I'm sure at 101% that until Rio it was that way...meanwhile I'm not sure at all that this rule is still there...

Three weeks of games are now needful

Hello, I think too many sports in the schedule and too few days. in my suggestion the olympic games should go on for three or four weeks. and I think the swimming finals should be in the evening

this thing is getting absolutely crazy...
IOC'd better stop this farce before it goes totally out of control...
the Olympic Games are NOT for kids of this age for many reasons...

Giovanni Gianni Cattaneo reacted to phelps in Swimming Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
as we have written in the past, the Italian team qualification to the Games will follow a different pathway, but just for info, if we only look at the time swum in day #1 of the 2019 Italian Nationals, we have a few new "A" standard times reached by some Italian swimmers...
- Simona Quadarella (women's 800m free, 8.25.55)
- Arianna Castiglioni (women's 100m breast, 1.06.92 in the morning heats, slightly slower in the final, 1.07.11, which is just a few hundreds above the target)
- Martina Carraro (women's 100m breast, 1.07.04)
- Ilaria Cusinato (women's 400m IM, 4.37.45)
- Gabriele Detti (men's 400m free, 3.43.36)
- Federico Burdisso (men's 200m fly, 1.54.64)
- Andrea Vergani (men's 50m free, 21.53)
- Luca Dotto (men's 50m free, 21.98)
and if we look at "B" standard, we have:
- 7 girls in the women's 800m free
- 7 girls in the women's 100m breast (included a 13-year young girl, Benedetta Pilato, who was 5th overall and swam 1.08.88)
- 4 girls in the women's 400m IM
- 8 guys in the men's 400m free
- 9 guys in the men's 200 fly
- 11 guys in the men's 50m free
who swam faster than that standard time...

Costarica is pratically qualified in women's surf: 8 spot will be assigned in WSL, maximum 2xNOC.
In WSL are only:
- USA (2)
- AUS (2)
then, with one athlete:
- FRA
- NZL
- CRC
- BRA
right 8 spots.

get rid of those cheaters of Boxing and you have 300 more quota available...
not to mention that not having Baseball/Softball returning, it also increases the amount of spots that could be used to make the current sports more enjoyable...
p.s. and in any case...breakdance...c'mon, guys! let's be serious...

the entire Karate world is not givin'up...
to be honest, there must be something hidden we don't know behind the Paris organizers and karate...
otherwise it's just inexplicable why decided not to include that discipline among those in the schedule...I mean, they will make their dubut at the Games in the 2020 edition, it's one of the sports with the most participants (both athletes and Countries) at the international events, it's one of the most well spread around the world in terms of competitive teams, it's one of the most successful sports in France (both in terms of participation and actual success) and it doesn't require a new venue (it can be played at the same venue of Taekwondo rather than Judo or Wrestling...normally they have 2 venues covering those 4 disciplines...and it would be the same with only 3, so, it doesn't change anything)...
meh...

A fkin disgrace. Real Olympic sports are harassed and got their places diminished constantly, while all kind of corner-street bullshit gets to become Olympic

oh, by the way...on the trend topic in general...I'm totally disgusted and I wish IOC and Paris 2024 an epic fail...
I'm really tired of this sh*t...if they go on like that, my uninterrupted true and deep 36-year love for the Games is going to end once and forever...
fu*k them all...Paris organizers, French NOC and IOC as well...

wow! in today's 4 Gold Medal matches, we're going to have 3 Italians represented (and the 4th one isn't there just because of a stupid mistake in the semifinals)...
I think it's the first time ever that Italy have so many guys in the finals of a single session at a Grand Prix event...

Giovanni Gianni Cattaneo reacted to phelps in Suggestions for Quota reductions on the existing sport program
first, drop the ipocracy of gender equality...
then, drop entire senseless sports (artistic swimming, trampoline, rhytmic gymnastics, dressage, skateboarding, freestyle BMX, surf, rugby 7s, the current no man's baseball...and of course this weightlifting and the farce of "amateur" -or "Olympic", name it as you prefer- boxing) or some events in some senseless sports (synchronized diving, individual time trial in cycling)...
after that, drop most of the places reserved to officials and IOC's guests...actually, this could be the first option...
finally, I'm pretty sure that the remaining sports not only don't need quota reduction, but they also have a shot to regain their technical dignity by increasing the number of competitive starters in any event (of any sport)...
frankly, I'm really tired of and annoyed by this everlasting buzz of "quota reduction"...it's time to choose an affordable number of sports to appear at the Games and let them have the best and strongest competition possible...
stop making most Olympic events a "technical farce" in the name of stupid ipocracy...
