  1. All this talk about social distancing, pretty much the number one thing to fight this crap, and meanwhile Trump and his cronies (plus dr Fauci, who actually does know what he talks about) are giving live press conferences while standing not even a meter away from each other Every head of state/government figure who is giving press moments or statements or whatever right next to other people - and not 1,5-2 meters distance between them - is out.
  2. Who won? And on-topic: still the climbing OQT from Toulouse, I've arrived at the women's final. It all feels a tiny bit pointless, although not so much as the men's final (where every competing climber was either already qualified or already sure of not qualifying due to 2-per-nation rules ).
  3. I hope the final is not another snoozefest like last time, with two goals in the first 20 minutes and then eternal nothing until the penalties. Ugh.
  4. The Dutch team is not good at all this time. Slovakia might be beatable (but again, Slovakia is stronger than most people think, as I think Italy will find out), but after that it's probably over...
  5. You can laugh about that now, but I honestly think Slovakia might have a chance there.
  6. Where do the Lithuanians generally go to? I mean, we've got large numbers of Polish and Bulgarians and so on (besides North Africans of course), but never in my life heard about Lithuanians
  7. For every post in this rather quickly moving thread, 200-250 cases have been confirmed.
  8. I like the idea, but think the best plan would be to do it on the original days and not start now?
  9. But not so much God sends a virus through the Chinese
  10. Too bad, not eligible for the Darwin Award anymore (and she's still alive, so she's automatically not eligible) But if there are awards for dumb things to say, she's right up there with a strict Christian guy here yesterday. The preacher or whatever it's called sent a letter to the children of his church, saying how it's probably a strange time for them. Then went on to go and say "it's because of our sins. Because you and I like our nice things a bit too much and because we all do bad and angry things. Like a king sends his servants before a visit, God sent the coronavirus before Jesus comes." People preaching that shit to the minds of children should be locked up in an asylum.
  11. Yes, their current ice hockey jerseys are awesome for example.
  12. 16km today, another nice and pretty relaxed run (a little under 1:40), mostly after I managed to get my heart rate down a good bit after the first few kilometers I noticed after seven runs in March I'm already at 92.5km and with at least one more to go, I'll actually make or pass 100km in one month, I had never thought that would ever happen
  13. Agreed. That's why I was mostly meaning athletes who are good enough to qualify or have qualified for Tokyo 2020 (in 2020), but might improve to medal contender status with an extra year.
  14. Just being a bit of a plane geek here, but I love the livery of that Slovak (state/government?) plane
  15. Tina Weirather has retired.
  16. Alpine skier Tina Weirather has retired
  17. What do you mean, how come? Criminals have always existed, and ransomware is not new.
  18. Spanish hospitals and their employees got emails with titles like "Information about COVID-19"....which included ransomware, which went on to lock the systems unless money is paid. I'd better not post what I hope happens to people who do that, especially in this situation.
  19. We don't have that last thing with 'hygiene commercials', for a lack of a better word, but I do get sort of the same sci-fi dystopic feeling when turning on CNN with their 'live' cases and deaths counters constantly on-screen.
  20. The shortage is a big reason here as well (there have been plenty of calls to donate your masks to your local doctor's office for example, if your masks have been stored in a sterile environment), plus most people just using it wrong. You can use it once, then have to throw it away (or in extreme cases, disinfect it with pretty expensive technologies). If you use it, then take it off and later use it again, it's just senseless.
  21. Meanwhile, Dutch health authorities (based on experts, of course): doctors, nurses and people working with the elderly should only use personal protective gear like face masks if they or their patient/client is coughing or sneezing, and only when giving personal care and/or bodily contact. Not when the contact stays outside of 1,5 meters or is shorter than five minutes. Basically they're saying a too big use of face masks doesn't create safety, it creates the illusion of safety. Interesting how every single country has their own experts with totally different opinions and people in their country see what they say as facts (including me)
  22. Weren't those municipal elections in France a week ago or so? That barely has any effect (yet) on the current numbers, they'd be roughly the same without those elections..
  23. But most are telling 32 people were tested, like the links posted here. Not that 32 were positive (unless you're using some incredibly obscure YouTube 'news channel' maybe).
