  1. And now Güler is negative http://www.turkboks.gov.tr/serhat-guler-taburcu-oldu.aspx
  2. I have not seen a single thing yet Only one short 'ad' on TV once, but that's about it.
  3. I'm not defending any status quo, I'm just saying things are a little more nuanced than just going "who cares about the economy in these times??". As if you don't care about people's lifes when you say we should take care not to bring down an entire economy with precautions and such. And just for the record: Yes, I do think there should be precautions. A status quo would suggest nothing should be done.
  4. It's curious how also experts are so different in terms of their opinions. For example John Ioannidis is extremely well-respected in the field of epidemiology and has said we have to differentiate between the actual epidemic and 'an epidemic of way too strong reactions by governments'. According to him, all the current precautions might save lifes, but mostly lifes of people who otherwise might have died of influenza instead of this coronavirus. "Only this year every case and every death is cause for alarm in the media." There's plenty of others, like Thomas Friedman or Nobel Price winner Michael Levitt, who are warning that the current precautions might cause significantly more damage than the actual virus. Economies are slowly being brought to their knees, which results in more deaths due to people losing their jobs by the thousands or even millions. The difference is those deaths are less visible and are spread over a longer time period and so won't be noticed as much. It's extremely difficult to know exactly what the right thing is and where to find a much-needed balance, but both letting the virus roam free and shutting down everything don't seem like very wise options..
  5. It really, very much should not be. If you make the economy our last priority right now, countless more people are going to die and at the very least have their lives go to shit because of it.
  6. Yes, I'd want that too. So far I've only heard people say "he says he is going to open everything next week", stuff he hasn't actually said. Every time I listen to what he actually says, he basically says he hopes this and that can open quickly. I hope the same, obviously.
  7. Yes, I want all stores, factories and schools etc open too. I think we all do.
  8. So real-life super hits occupy the entire all-time podium, meh
  9. Apparently there's a thing going on in the ancient Aachen Cathedral about relics of one, yes, Saint Corona. This Saint Corona is supposed to be, yeah, you wouldn't believe it, the patron of surviving epidemics. Now I know there's catholic patrons for almost literally every single object, every single occupation and every single word and situation one can think of, but it's nearly impossible to find if this Saint Corona thing is actually true. It's easy to find her being patron of butchers and lumberjacks and stuff, but nothing about epidemics, even though pretty decent media (internationally) is mentioning it. So, to catholics here, is there some sort of non-Wikipedia official list of who is patron of which object, thing, person, tree, situation, mountain or something where this could be verified?
  10. "You're not listening to the rules, so let's all stand around next to each other and just say 'fuck distance'". Right.
  11. 'Enjoying' the fact that it's the end of March and so it's off-season and the rest period anyway @brunamoura As for the Netherlands, Olympic gymnastics champion Sanne Wevers (hello @thiago_simoes) has had a 5 meter long balance beam delivered in her appartment, which was a bit of a challenge as you can see in the video in this tweet (if you can't see the video, I put a tweet with photo in the spoiler) She already has a balance beam, the one of the Rio Olympic final, but in Tokyo they'll use one with a bit different layer on top and so she ordered/asked for this one (with an extra low part underneath it as to not hit her head on the ceiling)
  12. But since social distancing goes above masks (at least according to experts), they'd be fined here Anyhow, looking better I think you're right and the angle of the photo makes them seem closer than they are So from your answers I am deducting in Slovakia it's 0? We've heard about some countries now, in some you can go outside with maximum of three people, in others with five, in others with two...I'm confused by every country having different rules
  13. Like in one of your photos for example A few days ago one would be told to spread if police saw this, by now these people would all receive quite a significant fine since last time I checked, five is more than three (unless these people live together, but who knows)
  14. What if you go to someone's house one by one?
  15. Some more numbers from here: 644 people in intensive care yesterday, that has risen to 761 today, a significantly bigger rise than expected. With 1150 IC beds, which for now could potentially be upgraded to 1500 or so, it's going to be full in a matter of days with no available scalability anymore (since stuff like surgery rooms have already been turned into IC units in most hospitals). Or, as the head of the intensive care 'federation' says: "This is very, very bad news. This way, it'll be full in three days instead of a week. In that case, we won't be in time."
  16. It's always cute when people think or suggest they are not dependent on technology or technology/internet suddenly being gone wouldn't be their problem.
  17. That took two days after passing 400k, which came three days after passing 300k. It might take two more days to get to 600k, but by then we're starting to close in on 100k a day..
  18. Understandable. The thing is, it happens either way...I think I'd prefer to at least have an idea of what's going on than to let myself be isolated from it.
  19. It must have been a mistake, because on other days the numbers did work out with the total number of new cases.
  20. And 90% of people over age 45 don't realize that the world would indeed be royally fucked if you suddenly remove internet Take away internet and on day one you're gonna have thousands of extra traffic deaths all over the world, for starters. Anyway, of course they have to be tactical in when to move the Indy 500 to. It's their main event by a huge margin and it'd be outright dumb to go and hold it on an NFL sunday if that can - at least for now - in any way be avoided.
  21. Luckily most people aren't really inviting people to their homes now, with some exceptions but then it's generally only one or two people with distance between them. I'm glad this part is an advice instead of a 'law' here (for now), it's a rather slippery slope if you start enforcing laws about how many people can be inside one's private house. Again though, luckily most people here aren't being that stupid.
  22. Wait, 4492? I read 6100+ half an hour ago...they mentioned the exact same number of deaths (662), so I wonder how come there's such a difference in the number of cases.
  23. And that is such a massive problem. It sounds cool to be able to do quick tests (temperature check here, some quick real test there), but first the Diamond Princess showed that doesn't work well (half the cases there didn't have any symptoms, so also no fever) and if you have a large amount of false negatives...that means there's a lot of people with the virus walking around thinking they don't have the virus. There you go, your next and bigger problem..
  24. Well you shouldn't have said that, now we've got definitive proof COVID-19 is worse than the Spanish flu
