What does Petrounias need to do to qualify? I mean, if him qualifying means he has such a huge chance of Olympic gold (presumably because he's the best), surely he has an equally huge chance of winning here and only some rare mistake could keep him out of it? Dutch NOS can make streams available all they want, as long as Eurosport's streams can be paused and watched later (or watched on-demand entirely) and NOS' streams can't even be paused, Eurosport wins by far Plus NOS on TV often sucks rather bad anyway, since they spend so much time talking about sports, they often forget to actually show sports....no Dutchman competing (other than the 100m final)? Ok, then it's not interesting....apparently.

That's not for all the on-demand feeds, at least not here. Most have some sort of generic picture of the sport. And even then, if you know it, you have hands to cover the thumbail until you clicked on it, gotta be smart about it (I watch FIL's streams, I am very familiar with how to avoid spoiler thumbnails ) Paying for the Eurosport Player is one of the best decisions I ever made in the past years, absolutely completely worth every cent. On-demand, pausable, rewatchable, one can even choose the commentary. Awesome.

Not a great week for Dutch cycling. Maurits Lammertink was walking to get an icecream with his wife and sons, and got hit by a motor scooter. Luckily an ambulance was parked nearby and those people rushed in to help, possibly saving his life. There was talk about a possible injury to his brain, although he is talking now and his condition is described as stable and no longer life-threatening. Yesterday veteran Koen de Kort was on an off-road trip, by car I assume, when he/they got in an accident. No life-threatening situation (anymore?), but during the emergency surgery they had to remove three fingers from his right hand, on which he now only has his thumb and index finger remaining. According to the doctor, that's at least not the worst-case scenario, as those are the two fingers needed for most of the hand's basic functions. De Kort was supposed to call it a career after this year, so that's it, I guess..

I'm assuming the Eurosport Player falls under one of those two categories, or are they planning to bring an entirely new system live in the weeks before the Olympics? Edit: just checked and apparently the Eurosport Player is the go-to place in the Netherlands, with basically everything live. Dutch NOS has a sublicense for the rights to many of the competitions with Dutch athletes. That means my Eurosport Player subscription will once again pay itself back easily with hundreds of hours of live Olympics
