And meanwhile a very bad crash in Itzulia Basque Country taking down several profiles including Vingegaard, Evenepoel and Roglic. Especially Vingegaard and a couple of other riders are looking very bad.

Also Jay Vine....again. Peloton went on that downhill like crazy (for no real reason at all), even after someone in the lead group had already missed that turn a few minutes earlier...

Basque/Spanish TV director should be fired immediately by the way, not only keeping the live pictures there forever, but even zooming in, showing all the replays, slow motion scenes of riders who may or may not be conscious.....those utter imbeciles from the Giro d'Italia TV during Wouter Weylandt's last moments alive all over again....

I mean, come on. They zoomed in as far as possible on Vingegaard, who we at least saw move a bit every now and then, and also on the UAE guy who was just motionless on his back (like Weylandt that time). We as audience don't need to see that, the riders' families don't need all that on TV. Fucking idiots.

Entry lists for World Cup I in Varese are available online:

2024 World Rowing Cup I - World Rowing

Makes a nice change for the first event in the season to have such a strong field.

:GBR sending 45 rowers with pretty much their entire A-squad going. Good to see Graeme Thomas back in the mix although would be good to see him in M1x as he's probably our best chance of getting the quota at the final qualification regatta.

"The highest placing boat from a country receives 8 points, the second highest 6 points" etc

What is that all about? Wouldn't one assume that in a given category, the winner of said category receives maximum points, no matter what nation they're from? Maybe she's explaining it wrong in the video, maybe (most likely) I'm misunderstanding it, but it sounds rather silly :p

  3. It is the day of days, Tour of Flanders :woohoo:

Although in Belgium it's the end of a week of national mourning, it has had a general vibe - and I swear I am not exaggerating - as if Van Aert died last Wednesday (he got injured and broke a few things but he most certainly is still alive). Flanders is....weird :p

All week long, all the cycling talk shows have been about it, there were live blogs about his wife and kids arriving in the hospital and so on.

Only rowing event :roflmao: of the year

Still always feels more special than even the world championships :d

Nice bit of fighting, Oxford cox wasn't happy at all :p

Think she did the sensible thing eventually & ditched the other one.

I did wonder at the exchange why she wouldn't just take the other one off as well then (better run with no shoes than run unbalanced with one, I'd say), but hadn't noticed she did that later on. Smart indeed :p

It's comfy compared to last year which was brutal.

Yeah, but in Australia I'd expect that, I wouldn't expect this heat in Belgrade yet. Then again, I have zero experience with Belgrade, so it's really more a matter of me not knowing enough :p

  7. With the playoffs closing in, which is the part of the season I do kind of try to follow, I've got a question: what are the main story lines going on right now/this season? Like, is there a certain team that is massively underperforming and surprisingly in danger of not making the playoffs, is there a team that is a sensation this season, something like that :p

I feel the same way about judo. Although for me, if any Canadians advance to the repechage stages or further (highly likely) I’ll probably watch their bouts. Of course it also depends on what else is on :d

I can only watch the medal fights on-demand anyway (Eurosport), so for the rest I just go by the results. The medal fights with Dutch athletes I'll skip a bit less, depending on how it goes. If it's minute after minute of just standing around and trying to get a grip (which is the case in most judo medal fights sadly), I'll just skip bit by bit :p

Also the Cross-Country Championships, and the She Believes Cup (football, only for pre-Olympic purposes however)

Can’t believe I forgot about either

Ah yeah, cross-country here as well, and I'll keep an eye on the judo Grand Slam in Antalya (mostly that will consist of skipping through the medal matches to see if anything interesting happens, I can't bring myself to watch 7 hours of judo in a weekend :p).
