  1. Right, the atmosphere during the French anthem makes it clear: go France, make every single booing and whistling loser (I assume a lot of the 13.000 holders of an entirely free ticket) go home disappointed
  2. Thanks (and LDOG) for the explanation We were just curious, especially because many of those doing it seemed to be entirely uninterested and just casually looking around, instead of really being into it. That's what raised the most curiousity I've never seen it in other countries by the way, although maybe other South Americans do it as well (which I don't really watch much outside of the World Cup).
  3. Honestly by now being really surprised by any of the three remaining teams would suggest one didn't really pay attention No, they don't all have the same chance of course, but counting out Morocco again after all they've done so far? Look where that got the Portuguese team.
  4. And even those had at least one match where they were utterly awful...
  5. If you thought that was interesting, here is the entry list for next weekend...he's on it for the 10k https://www.isu.org/docman-documents-links/isu-files/event-documents/speed-skating-8/2022-23-2/world-cups-23/announcements-133/30294-isu-world-cup-speed-skating-4-calgary-2022-entry-list/file Also Sigurd Henriksen of course, who we might expect to do a very, very serious attack on Sven Kramer's by now ancient world junior record (13:09).
  6. Yeah ok, right, no TV coverage I assume Live results though!
  7. On FINA's YT channel? I'll try and see which of my VPN's countries works, because YouTube as a player beats everything else
  8. Duuuuuude. You're forgetting one of the best locations of all.
  9. The usual question with these things: where can it be (re)watched? Doesn't seem to be on All-Aquatics. Edit: after logging in, there it is
  10. It's odd, I feel more like a relieve at seeing the best (or most goal-based hyped, at least) about to say their goodbye
  11. @konig I received a question from my mother and now I'm also curious because now I can't NOT see it anymore What's with those hand gestures almost every single Argentinian fan makes non-stop while singing or cheering? Like throwing something away with one hand, but most of the time they do so with a completely emotionless look on their face, like it's some sort of obligated move. I've been thinking "what on earth is that?!" since I received the question (three matches ago ) and now I really want to know.
  12. Croatia gets a corner stolen from them after a nice attack.
  13. Livakovic basically jumped straight into Alvarez
  14. THAT is how you take a penalty. Damn.
  15. Yeah ok, that's a penalty. Also a truly superb pass to get there.
  16. True, although I generally don't have much of a problem with the stadium sports being held in a larger city somewhere in the 'area'.
  17. Wow, this is actually a rare proposal that makes quite some sense. Especially the minimum climate conditions and existing infrastructure. Winter Olympics in largely green areas with zero prior infrastructure (and so most likely also not a lot of stuff happening after the Olympics) are....well, not great.
  18. And we've started. The schedule is really fantastic, with almost every individual distance being paired men-women. As in, the 50m fly women is followed by the 50m fly men, the 100m back women is followed by the 100m back men. This should be done at every championships, it makes the schedule actually look like it has order instead of the usual swimming championships chaos
  19. Just read it here as well now. Advantage of your country being out before the semi's, at least you can cheer for your referees
  20. Confirmed? Hmm, that leaves Makkelie and the Polish guy as main favourites for the final?
  21. And more related to the World Cup: what's the referee situation? I know Orsato will do Argentina - Croatia, and Makkelie is still in the pool of referees that's left (but no specific assignment yet), but who else are left? Oh and Lahoz is sent home, unsurprisingly.
  22. And the Antilles To relate this to sports: Antilles you mostly see in athletics or baseball, while Suriname you see significantly more in things like kickboxing, where the world was dominated for years by Suriname-Dutch athletes like Tyrone Spong, Ernesto Hoost, Remy Bonjasky etc. In football...there isn't really anything specific, as far as it's important (which it of course isn't).
  23. This feels like there's a luge game where you can't change the name of the player, so you're listed as 'You'
