  1. Though it's not due to Don't Mention the War part, but the Major talking about people from the West Indies Not that I agree with the decision. That part had been cut before so why not do that again and leave one of the most hillarious pieces of Television alone!
  2. It is truly one of the most sad things in this World. Even courts are a political tool and either USA or Russia and/or China will make it impossible to start major processes. Someone like Putin wouldn't even have allowed ICTY. Macropolitics is such a massive hindrance to human rights and the fight against war crimes (with some few exceptions that they don't really care about).
  3. Taking over the forum one member at a time
  4. Got through the Finnish mini series Tuntematon sotilas (Unknown Soldier) about a group of soldiers during the Continuation War. Pretty well made with some very fine scenes. Some pretty classic soldier roles, but considering that it's based on a book written by an actual soldier from the war I guess there's reason to believe there's some reality in there. All in all I would recommend it
  5. You have some sources? I've seen a bit about the manufactoring, but nothing sounding that bad.
  6. Well, putting pretty much all the top Norwegian athletes out there (just lacking some race walking) and having Johaug go for a major running result..
  7. It's a gimmick to give us some athletics to watch. It's perfectly fine as that, but no doubt I prefer the good old as well.
  8. I'm calling it. Team pursuit in the Olympics!
  9. And a WR (well, World's Best officially )
  10. The wishes from WSF has been known for more than a year. Why should they suddenly take Laser out (they've signed a contract for 2024, by the way making it even less likely). That would mean cutting the most universal class. That would also mean breaking their own regulations, I believe. In athletics, I would see discus as one of the most likely cuts as well if that's where it ends up.
  11. Hasn't Disney just put a disclaimer?
  12. Even as a pretty Eurocentric historian, I know that the movie doesn't show how the South looked in the 1860s. It's a rather romanticized picture of the situation and especially the slavery (and later freemen).
  13. I'm not a big fan of removing the movie. Putting a disclaimer on it should be more than enough, but it's not like there aren't plenty of movies with slaves. Removing one due to how slaves are pictured isn't denial. Tearing down statues isn't really just a Middle Ages thing. It has happened plenty of times showing changes. And though statues do sometimes make people curious enough to look somebody up, it's a long way from erasing history. Statues are made to celebrate people and if they aren't worthy of that, it's not like they disappear. I'm not for some massive purge of statues, but I don't see why people whose only contribution to history is slavery should be having a statue in a modern society. Don't destroy it, but use it to tell the sad parts of history. Meanwhile I don't really see why it should end up with buildings destroyed.
  14. No doubt that it's all part of his desperate plan to get reelected in the current mess. If he can make ANTIFA seem like an actually organized thing, it's a lot easier to go on witht the Law & Order talk pushing towards strengthening the police and putting more people behind bars. Sadly OAN is more than ready to give him the weapons, but considering that it's packed with conspiracy theorists and a (former) writer for Russian propaganda media Sputnik News that's not really surprising.
  15. No news that painkillers/gout medication is pretty big in football. Sadly
  16. So. Tomorrow we'll be having the Cup semifinals in Denmark. This will also be the first chance to have spectators at a game. It has been announced that the second semi will have a staggering 278 spectators, of which 28 will be from the visiting side, AGF! This is due to the limits of 500 people which also includes players, officials, journalists and everybody else making the match happen. There will be some negotiations about possibly opening stadiums to more as a test with several teams claiming to be able to have more than 25 % capacity without risk.
  17. Novo Amor has really made some beautiful music!
  18. Qatar Airways and Black Lives Matter. What a magnificent mix!
  19. Now things are going too far!
  20. That's not really just Americans (at least plenty of Danes have been pissed when somebody did so). The funny thing is, in most countries burning the flag is the only "allowed" way to destroy a flag.
  21. Meanwhile Trum's voter registration is turning out to be rather interesting. The president himself making mistakes when it comes to registrating while he is throwing claims of fraud is rather interesting, especially when he has registered in Florida while apparently telling governors that he lives in Manhattan. And meanwhile the White House has compared Trump's staged picture outside St. John's with the pictures of Churchill inspecting the damage during the London Blitz. If it wasn't for the sad situation, it's rather hillarious that a situation following police charging a peaceful protest is compared to Churchill being a symbol of leadership unifying the country.
  22. He does link to a poll showing major support to having more police (though it's 3 years old). It would make it less stressfull and by all means make it more interesting for the good guys. No doubt that training is a lot as well, but it does make sense that it could help.
