  2. women's Junior Individual Trap Gold: Mar Molne Magrina Silver: Sofia Littame Bronze: Maria Ines Coelho De Barros
  3. when you don't have enough offensive talent, you can't win close matches (especially when the opponent is stronger on paper -and not only on paper)... Italy did a lot better than expected, though...with this team, I did really expect them to lose by 50 against SRB and by 30+ against ESP...
  4. women's Individual Trap Gold: Daria Semianova Silver: Jessica Rossi Bronze: Alessandra Perilli Olympic Quota: Russia, San Marino
  5. sure, but at least he's still in the race...those 2 Italian chokers with 45 aren't...
  6. what the fu*k! they're live but can't put the streaming for the rest of the world online? I repeat...they're more than a bunch of idiots...they are the worst disaster a sport fan can face!
  7. and he's leading the competition with 49/50 after the first 2 series (tied with Borko Vasiljevic)... things, as expected, are going really bad for Italy...De Filippis is still in contention (he's in the group following the 2 leaders, with 48/50), but Pellielo and Grazini (45/50) look already out of the game...once again...and Resca (last Italian World Champion in men's Trap in 2017, not 2000 years ago) is at home watching something else on tv...
  8. Italian public TV strikes again!!! from ESC's Facebook page... "Dear Shooting Friends, Due to the Host Broadcaster's technical issues we can't broadcast the Finals from Lonato live. Hope our Italian fix the problem within the shortest time possible." what a bunch of idiots! they're just the ruin of the sports...all the sports, I mean...
  9. so, now the qualifications are over... women's Individual Trap, shooters qualified to the Final Fiammetta Rossi Jessica Rossi Daria Semianova Maria Quintanal Zubizarreta Shoot-Off for the last 2 places in the Final: Silvana Stanco vs Fatima Galvez vs Alessandra Perilli Semianova, Quintanal Zubizarreta and Perilli are the only shooters fighting for the 2 Olympic Quota Places available Today... UPDATE: Stanco and Perilli "won" the shoot-off and qualified to the final...now we really have a 3-way fight for the 2 available Olympic Quota places...
  10. contrasting results for Italy... on the positive side, Angelo Crescenzo did a great job to make it through to the big final (where he's going to face his bête noir Assadilov...let's see if once in his lifetime can beat the Kazakh fighter), especially because in the semifinal bout he won against his direct rival for the last direct Olympic spot via OQR, Eray Samdan... on the negative side, Luigi Busà lost once again against the no.2 Iranian, Ali Asiabari (judging from the score, this time it must have been quite an explosive and entertaining match, it ended 6-6 after the 3 mins of regulation) and therefore he's out and can't defend his title in this K1PL stage (last year he dominated the field at the Tokyo Budokan)... not a great day also for Luca Maresca, who lost a close match against Figueira in the early rounds and so he has no chance to get a remarkable final placing... finally, Sara Cardin ended up in 7th place, losing first to her longtime arch-rival Terliuga and then also to the Japanese Shiori Nishimura in the last round of repechage before making it through to the Bronze medal match...the jury is still out, but I think she could and should have done better...at least beating the Japanese girl in the repechage match... in any case, it's also a positive thing to see her back and fully healthy...and since she has no reasonable chance to get an Olympic spot through the OQR, it's not that painful to see her 7th rather than 5th or 3rd (winning a Gold medal would be another story, however)...the important thing is to have her in top shape at the final qualification tournament in Paris next May...
  11. Today's action in Tokyo... women's Individual Kata Gold Medal match: Sandra Sanchez Jaime vs Kiyou Shimizu Bronze Medal match #1: Emiri Iwamoto vs Maho Ono Bronze Medal match #2: Hikaru Ono vs Viviana Bottaro women's Individual Kumite, -50kg Gold Medal match: Alexandra Recchia vs Sara Bahmanyar Bronze Medal match #1: Gu Shiau-Shuang vs Li Ranran Bronze Medal match #2: Ku Tsui-Ping vs Ayaka Tadano women's Individual Kumite, -55kg Gold Medal match: Wen Tzu-Yun vs Anzhelika Terliuga Bronze Medal match #1: Carlota Fernandez Osorio vs Alessandra Hasani Bronze Medal match #2: Jennifer Warling vs Shiori Nakamura men's Individual Kumite, -60kg Gold Medal match: Angelo Crescenzo vs Darkhan Assadilov Bronze Medal match #1: Eray Samdan vs Nenad Dulovic Bronze Medal match #2: Majid Hassannia vs Alejandro Ortiz Fernandez men's Individual Kumite, -67kg Gold Medal match: Hiroto Gomyo vs Burak Uygur Bronze Medal match #1: Dionysios Xenos vs Vinicius Figueira Bronze Medal match #2: Soichiro Nakano vs Yugo Kozaki men's Individual Kumite, -75kg Gold Medal match: Ken Nishimura vs Rafael Aghayev Bronze Medal match #1: Bahman Askari vs Noah Bitsch Bronze Medal match #2: Stanislav Horuna vs Yassine Sekouri
  12. meanwhile, in the women's senior Trap events, the competition is still running, but Italy is almost sure to win the team Gold and Fiammetta Rossi is mathematically safe in first place with 118/125, result that nobody else can reach anymore (and Jessica Rossi is tied for second with Daria Semianova with 113/125)... for what concerns the Olympic Quota Places, instead, Daria Semianova (113/125) and Maria Quintanal Zubizarreta (112/125) are the only girl looking for that already sure to make the Final... other girls still with a mathematical chance to make it through to the top 6 are: Beatriz Martinez with 90 hits after the first 4 series (however, Spain can win only 1 Quota Place, as Fatima Galvez already has one); Alessandra Perilli with 111/125 (likely to go the shoot-off to make the final); Sarah Wixey with 86 hits after 4 series (she needs a 25 in the last 25 shots to reach the shoot-off for the final)... so, it's highly likely that we're going to have a 3-way battle between RUS, SMR and ESP (with 2 different shooters) for the 2 available quota...
  13. women's Junior Individual Trap, shooters qualified to the Final Mar Molne Magrina Sofia Littame Polina Kniazeva Maria Ines Coelho De Barros Nadiia Bulhakova Shoot-Off for the last place: Kathrin Murche vs Jessica Ellen Hayward UPDATE: Jessica Ellen Hayward won the shoot-off and she's the 6th finalist...

  16. it looks like Italy have started with the right mood at the home champs... Fiammetta Rossi has a 4-target margin over her nearest opponent after day 1 (75 targets) in the women's senior Trap...and Jessica Rossi and Silvana Stanco are also among the top 6... the same thing is happening among the junior girls...Italy have the 1st, 4th and 6th ranked shooters after day 1 (always Trap, always 75 hits completed)... and of course both Italian teams are leading with a very wide margin their respective team event... there's only 1 problem...a really big problem...the only event we need to dominate here is the men's individual Trap, not the women's (which is always good if it happens, but it's not a question of life or death, like the men's)...
  17. 10 Things to Know about the 2019 ISA World Surfing Games Highest Ever Country Participation at 2019 ISA World Surfing Games what the hell! this time this is really the top event of the sport...we're going to have for the first time ever the best of the WSL world and the best of the "other surfers" facing each other... that's the Olympic magic, a miracle made possible only by Surf's inclusion in the Olympic program...
  18. you can go up to 2... of course only for what he did on the field...

  20. UCLA Bruins in the NCAA and the Raiders in the NFL (I'm basically an L.A. fan in all US sports*...the only exception being nowadays the Raiders, but I started to support them when I saw my first AF game...and it was the 1983 Superbowl, with Jim Plunckett and Marcus Allen being the heroes of that team, at that time also based in L.A.)... *because my first Summer Olympics were the 1984 L.A. Games and because of "Baywatch" (which here in Italy had such a great success quite a few years ago...it was really a cult show when I was a teenager )...
  21. Bolt ran the 200m below 20 secs when he was 16, if I remember well... and at the same age won the Junior Worlds in Kingston (2002)... in 2004 (when he was just 18) he was the huge favourite to repeat himself and he was also among the theoretical medal candidates for the Athens Games, but an injury before the Junior Worlds stopped him from competing at both those events... so, yes...he was already an established 200m specialist well before 2008...he was not coming out of nowhere... still, his "mastermind"/mentor being Loren Seagrave, make everything he achieved in his career at least suspect...
  22. yeah, if it wasn't for the names of Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire, they would have covered up also that sh*t...I'm pretty sure of that... Luckily, some real superstars (or at least recognized as that by the average US audience) that have nothing to do with Olympic sports saved us and the IOC from another epic coverup...
