  1. Don't want to be negative, but i slightly hope Johaug doesn't win a gold here, just for dissing the World Cup after Tour de Ski.. And she is one of my favourite skiers..
  2. Zografski with an amazing second jump It will be the best performance by a Bulgarian at the WCH in history. Training with the German team this season has been wonderful for him.
  3. BG is sending a team of 7 athletes. As usual, the goal is to reach the final, but this time there are slight medal hopes for Saraboyukov and Mitkova Men: Nikola Karamanolov - 60m Hristo Iliev - 60m Tihomir Ivanov - high jump Bozhidar Saraboyukov - long jump Lachezar Valchev - triple jump Women: Plamena Mitkova - long jump Gabriela Petrova - triple jump
  4. Oh, do elaborate. We love some backstage organization stuff mayhem.
  5. And some other pics, because why not
  6. A bit late, but today was the official 67th ceremony "Sportsperson of the year" for 2024. In no surprise what so ever Karlos Nasar took the top prize with almost a perfect score - 1365 point out of possible 1370. 1. 7. Ah so close and so far
  8. Modern day biathlon fans will never believe, that Norway didn't win a men's relay at the WCH from 1969 all the way to 2005. A completely clinical performance from the whole team as i've ever seen. 11th title for them, but still trailing Russia's 14. Out of those 11, Tarej Boe has been part of 7, which is a new record.
  9. Bad first leg for us and any chances for top 8-10 are now gone.. France are quickly running away with this.
  10. IBU have announced the calendars up until 2029/30 season here. Some interesting changes. - In 27 and 29 the opening round will be reduced to one weekend (instead of two) with the extra weekend being held around New Years. This is a very nice change in my opinion, as i always appreciate more races around the holidays. Plus we can have an extra location, instead of one resort holding 2 weeks at the beginning. The only thing, which could have made it even better is if they squeezed this round between Christmas and New Year, but i'm sure the athletes would have made a fuss. - Another change is Oberhof moving to the third trimester after being the opening January round for probably 30 years. This seems like a reasonable move, as we all know the troubles with Oberhof every season. - Of the other locations it's the usual in and out for Annecy, Lahti with Lenzerheide, Otepaa joining their mix of semi-regular slots. - The tradition of returning to North America once every 5-6 years is kept for 2029. But Asia is still non-existent for biathlon. And to think, when i started watching in 2002/03 for a couple of years China had a top tier women's team, with Japan having a nice presence as well. Seems eternity ago. 2026/27 season 2027/28 season 2028/29 season 2029/30 season
  11. Absolutely tragic night for Italy The chance for an extra team in the CL next season just plummeted
  12. If you could believe it, this is the first Swiss slalom World title since 1950 - 75 years ago
  13. Very happy for Preuss indeed Joins an elite group of German women with a Pursuit World title. Lora Hristova with 20/20 for one of her best senior races as well. If only she (and our whole team actually) could ski faster, so we could have more chances for a top 10.
  14. The number of DNFs today is going to be legendary
  15. Finland has had better results in biathlon than ski-jumping for 15 years now
  16. Shiffrin comes, Shiffrin wins, a tale old as time Don't know what to take from today's event. I'm pretty neutral on the gimmick, it wasn't horrible, but it's not the Combined i remember from 20 years ago. Though it is known for everyone of us, that the classic Combined is dead for many reasons, if it's between this and no Combined at all, i would take this doubles format. The added pressure that you a performing not only for yourself is an interesting aspect.
  17. It has been a good indoor season for us. Very good performances by Bozhidar Saraboyukov and Plamena Mitkova in the horizontal jumps. Too bad Aleksandra Nacheva in the triple is still injured and had another operation otherwise we could have 3 people doing top results.
  18. Those evil Italians have made it on purpose, so she skips the DH (joking of course) Actually for me it's more likely she does the DH and skips the snowboard, if it is her decision. She has been treating snowboard as an afterthought for years and it's clearly not a priority for her at all. Plus she already has 2 Golds there, so the itch is much bigger to get a DH medal. I say if it's her decision, because i'm not sure how much power the Czech Olympic committee has, because they would a 100% take a secure medal in snowboard, than just a chance in DH.
  19. Very fun course for a women's DH and not easy at all. Bravo to the Saalbach people. Breezy Johnson getting the gold is a tad surprising, if only you look at recent results, but let's not forget that 4-5 years ago she was doing excellent in the speed events, before her injury. Don't know what happened with Team Italia, but they looked awful on this course
  20. Just don't like equal times and sharing of medals and positions. Nothing particular about today's athletes and competition.
  21. And the double medalists fiasco returns
  22. As far as i have read, it's not an actual school, but more like an education center for adults? All the casualties have been grown-ups correct? Either way another sad tragedy.. Unfortunately they are beginning to happen much more often in Europe. Let's see what will be the attackers profile.
  23. The top 10 names have been announced for our "Sportsperson of the year" awards. The official ceremony is going to be later this month, where the final standings will be known. Unsurprisingly the top 10 consists of the 7 Olympic medalists + Euroleague MVP Aleksander Vezenkov, WBA Regular Heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev and of course Grigor Dimitrov. From 11th to 20th were also announced, again in no order. I suppose the full voting will be released after the ceremony.
