  1. We are hosting again, so i will probably go watch some matches.
  2. The swimmers learned of FINA's financial difficulties and decided it's time to bankrupt them 5 WR already and 125 k gone, even though they set a measly 25 k for a WR.
  3. Whoever thought of having a Mass Start already in the first round gets onto the list of "genius sporting scheduling" of the year.
  4. False start for North Korea after the first day China one ups them in the lightest women's weight and then the odds on favourite Pang bombs out at 55 kg. But the the big surprise was Thiago Silva who got a Silver medal in the total
  5. And on this week's weather report, we have a nice surprise. I was fully expecting brown fields in Wisla, but no, we actually have snow and had a snowfall during the Qualifying today
  6. Fun fact, with todays win Therese Johaug becomes the third oldest winner in the women's World Cup. Above her are Hilde Pedersen at 41 years and of course Marit Bjorgen at almost 38 years.
  7. Johaug - Weng 1 and 2, are we back in 2019
  8. Of course they could make lineal world records, but they don't want that, because those records would never be beaten. And it's way more marketable, flashy etc. when you have "modern" WR and they happen regularly. Athletics have started mastering this in their course of upgrading the old WRs with "exciting new stars". There is absolutely no reason, when your current weight is up to 89 kg for example, and the previous WR has been set in the old weight at 85-86-87 etc. that it's not automatically taken. It has been set under the current limit, there is no difference if the person weighted 85 or 88.5 kg it's within the range.. Now if the old category was over 89, then there would be an advantage, so those WR shouldn't be taken. The best way is, like you mentioned, to use the bodyweight of everyone, but that is an impossible ask for any weightlifting governing body. I'm not even sure how they are able to run a normal excel..
  9. There are both positives and negatives in this situation. The negative is that we are once again changing the weights and erasing records in an attempt to forget the past and "start all over". Nothing speaks more about the integrity of a sport, when it changes it's system every 5 years. On the positive is that they are actually reducing the number of weights and not keeping the absurd 10. And i know, that for a long time in the past they were always 10, but i think 8 is the perfect balance. If only wrestling could reduce them to 8 as well.. Boxing could have 10, but that would still be a plus from their current 13-15, or whatever number they have.
  10. Silly of me to think, that when you have an event named Mixed doubles, you would have a man and a woman on the sled and not another relay event
  11. The heart of Diggins on display once again. She seemed out of it on the second to last climb, but found her second life on the final one and bypassed the two Norwegians like nothing. Johaug will need some time to get back into her terminator form.
  12. Good start to the season for women. Sweeney almost got the win today with a track record in the second run.
  13. The other news from today is that we have our first X of the season. Races in Mont Tremblant next week have been cancelled. Imagine Canada being the place where there is no snow.. FIS are now scrambling to find a next host for next week.
  14. A chaotic race, with a lot of falls and mishaps between runs 1 and 2, has a cruel end, as Shiffrin falls as well. Hector made a fantastic second run and i actually didn't think Shiffrin would have beaten it. Looked like an unpleasant fall too, so let's see if she will be ok for tomorrow.
  15. Eurosport 1 and 2 are included in every basic cable plan here. Those are between 7-10 Euro a month. If you want the additional paid sporting channels, that show the football leagues, F1, Moto GP, NBA, NHL, NFL, tennis etc. those are another 10-12 euros. So you can get everything for about 20 euros.
  16. Because 10 hours of snooker.. I enjoy snooker, but I don't need snooker on the weekend in the afternoon..
  17. Very fun race in Killington with wacky weather conditions Some barely make it past 10 gates, some then do 3-4 seconds and then there are braver gals that do under or only a second behind Shiffrin.
  18. The next chapter in the Krasnobaeva saga is upon us. Looks like Armenia have cut ties with her after only a few weeks. A person from their Federation has said, that they won't continue the relationship, because of her unprofessional and rude attitude towards the coaches and other officials. That includes: - having no respect to the coaches and their advise; - training without any motivation; - stops doing the routine and throws objects without any reason; - just lays on the floor and ignores the music. When this was escalated with her mother, she mentioned that "Elvira has a strong temper and she was the same in Bulgaria and they tolerated her". Which of course is complete BS. If anyone attempted this shit here, they would be thrown out immediately. And now are wanting from her mother to return all finances they gave them, which she is refusing, so they will probably sue them. They will also inform other RG Federations about this situation, so they don't hire them. My 2 cents on this is most likely Krasnobaeva was happy in BG and was forced out by her mother, so now she is sabotaging the move and be done with it.
  19. Boxing cangaroo instead of regular boxing.
  20. Since it's the home Olympics I think there is a chance to have 50-60 million. It won't be Superbowl numbers, but it could very well be around a Presidential debate level.
  21. Yes, snow everywhere 🌨️ Yesterday was just depressing.
  22. Today looks much more like Lillehammer than yesterday
  23. I didn't this year. But the Summer Grand Prix is like Formula 3 to Winter Ski-Jumping being the F1 I mean Zografski of all people won the Grand Prix last summer, which says it all.
  24. That would be stupid to retire one year before the Olympics. It's not like there are 5 other Polish jumpers who are better than him. On the contrary, Poland is in a slight slump currently and no one stands out.
  25. An American in top 10 is totally unexpected Frantz has a lot of potential, but let's see if he can keep up with the consistency. The US investing in the renovation of the Lake Placid hills is starting to give positives. And they are going to make a brand new hill for Ski-flying in Northern Michigan next year, which could be used in the summer as well.
