  1. Istanbul would be great, it has the facilities, sporting merit and traditions, large scale of history and culture. I'd personally prefer Budapest or Germany, but Istanbul is in my backyard so to speak, so let's do it.
  2. My regular bitchin, that 2036 should be Europe. Asia can have 2040.
  3. Oh for Pete's sake...
  4. Looks like our only chance is depending on Canada. Japan is pretty much qualified and I doubt Cuba will have any trouble with China.
  5. This must be the most even VNL ever. One matchday to go and there are like 10 teams on the fence. Screw FIVB for choosing China and robbing one deserving team of a Finals appearance.. And it will be in our style to beat Poland, Slovenia and Japan and still don't make the finals. Unbelievable.
  6. Anyone have an idea, why they are switching swimming and athletics? It's an interesting take, but I have some concerns. The first 5-6 days are always so packed and now having athletics with two 3-4 hour blocks a day is going to congest it even more. At least with swimming we know it's just 2 hour blocks. Now if they prolonged athletics to be more days, but with shorter sessions I could get on board with that, but that doesn't seem the case and they are in the usual timeframe. I'm not seeing the logic behind this move, unless NBC and the organisers see swimming as bigger than athletics in USA and want to have it in the second week, when interest is fading in the general audience.
  7. Yeah, that second day tennis medal event is bizarre. Other than that I can understand pushing tennis later in the schedule, so there is more time between the end of Wimbledon (probably on July 9th) and the Olympics tournament. Plus we are not bunching tennis, table tennis and badminton to run at the same time, which is moronic everytime they do it.
  8. Haven't looked at full schedule yet, but anything that splits the programme more evenly and longer is a big plus for me. Full 3 weeks is a must and hopefully something soon.
  9. Historic day for Bulgarian sport today. Minutes ago our women's U19 volleyball team became World Champions. And earlier Ivan Ivanov won the Wimbledon's Boys title without losing a set in the whole tournament Only the second Bulgarian male player to win a Grand Slam title after Grigor Dimitrov in won Wimbledon & US Open in 2008 (even if it's only the juniors). We can only wish he has a similar career as Dimitrov, or why not even better. Also, Sinner got revenge on Alcaraz
  10. Weeee are the champions, my friend Historic moment, as this is our first women's team world title in any sport, in any age group Last year these girls became European U18 champions on July 13th, today is July 13th again and they are World Champions. And some of the girls are even younger than the U19 age group, as we have 16 and early 17 year old's on the team.
  11. Wait, theoretically if Canada were to be last, you are meaning you would return via the rankings in 2027 right? Not next year, because that would be utterly stupid from FIVB if that is the rule.
  12. I don't understand why the Universiades and Youth Olympic Festivals are recently always at the same time. You would think the 2 events, which pretty much target the same youth athletes would try to avoid each other.
  13. Great, great play and win for us against Brazil. In every tournament there is talk about which is the group of death etc., but this time there really was a group of death 3/4 semifinalists are from our group with the US fighting hard to make it 4/4, which i can't remember happening before?
  14. The never ending Aquatics World Championships continue, this time from Southeast Asia. 15-20 years ago these had the pedigree of one of the sporting spectacles of the year, where each event winner felt like a real superstar. There was anticipation months in advance. But FINA did a fabulous job at devaluing them in the last 5 years to "Oh it's that time of the year again" and "let's see which swimmers will skip them this time".
  15. Well, after today's unfortunate crash there shouldn't be any doubt if Almeida will give his all for Pogacar from now on. Not that there were any signs of the contrary, but some people were thinking he will save himself for a shadow GC place with his form.
  16. The Beast from the East rises to take yellow On to Pari
  17. Remember when she practically retired? Now she is playing her best tennis. And it seems like i've watched her for 10-12 years and she is nearing 30, yet she is not even 24 yet.
  18. 100th win for Tadej 18th down in the Tour, 18 left
  19. Pfff, again MvdP, Tadej can't catch a break from that guy.
  20. Given, that we lost to Poland, who today also demolished Turkey, I'd say is one to look out for. Italy, US and Brazil are always favorites as well.
  21. The bad news from yesterday's match continue, as Simeon Nikolov picked up an injury in the middle of the second set and had to be carried away in a wheelchair. He will need at least 2 weeks before beginning to train again. His participation in the third week is questionable and even if he plays it wouldn't be in full capacity. And all of a sudden, as things looked great for making the Finals, now it's going the opposite direction. The win tonight should be an absolute necessity if we want to make the Finals.
  22. Me and my big frickin mouth... We are gonna lose to Turkey of all teams Completely unbelievable....
  23. It was certain you wouldn't get relegated already at win 3 against Turkey. It will be either them or Holland and if someone snatches a second win they should be good I reckon.
  24. Freshly back from the match with Japan and holy smokes We played superbly, probably haven't played like this in 7-8 years. The hall even though isn't as big as the one in Sofia, or even Varna, had an amazing atmosphere, that no doubt played a big factor in match.
  25. Lol, a German team, let alone Bayern, to lose on purpose just so they don't play against Chelsea That's some shameful page taken out of volleyball.. Hopefully both of them lose next round.
