Hungary was a nightmare tonight. I didn't expect a loss against Croatia at all, although Croatia is the number four of the last ECh. At least Hungary will go to the main round. Against Denmark and Slovenia they are not without a chance.

Well, what can I say about it? A very nervous match from , but a very important first win. It wasn't very strong offensively, and played well too. remains the big favorite in this group, especially after today's games. I can breathe again. Against I expect a more comfortable Dutch win.

Unbelievably nervous for the opening game of the Netherlands tonight. We miss a lot of big names, but we still want to make it to the top 8. Unfortunately a difficult draw with France, Romania, Germany, Montenegro and Spain, but who knows, the team may surprise. I envy you, @Vektor. An evening without nerves seems wonderful to me. Hungary again tomorrow.

It's really strange, because Hungary always wins all youth tournaments. Then you also expect a lot of prizes at senior level. By the way, 10 minutes left to win the win against Switzerland. I hope with you.

Well, winning against Switzerland is not that hard. You can have a little more confidence in your team. Recently they beat Romania, which is very good team.

and maybe . I expect many close matches. But Norway, Denmark and France (already qualified as the host nations) are the greatest favourites in my opinion to win the ECh-title.

Harrie Lavreysen with a WCh-title again. What a phenomenal rider. But I'm afraid this was his last, because the Israeli Jakovlev will dominate men's sprinting from now on.

Het viel mij nog mee dat ik er niet alleen zat. Maar hoop wel dat het de komende dagen voller zal zijn. Ik ga niet snel nog een keer naar een volleybalwedstrijd toe. Zo'n volksmenner die de hele tijd allerlei dansjes en handbewegingen en 'My block, my block' opdringt, is niets voor mij. Ik kom daar voor de sport. Helaas begrijp ik ook dat mensen zich tegenwoordig niet meer zelf kunnen vermaken (ook al zitten ze bij een WK volleybal) en dus hoort het 'vermaak' er allemaal bij. De laatste drie sets waren redelijk van Nederland, maar het vertekent wel, want Argentinië was echt heel erg zwak. Dus mijn voorspelling blijft dat ze er tegen de laatste drie tegenstanders vrij hard af zullen gaan.

Morgen ga ik naar Nederland-Argentinië. Al maanden geleden kaarten gekocht (best duur). Ze krijgen Ahoy lang niet vol, het WK leeft gezien het matige niveau van Nederland niet echt. Er worden nu kaarten voor dumpprijzen verkocht en ook de mensen die al kaarten hadden (onder wie ik) krijgen geld terug. Dat is toch raar? Hoe dan ook, hopelijk zit ik morgen niet als enige in het stadion. Dat zou wel gênant zijn.

The Dutch team is not yet making a good impression. Tonight the derby against Belgium. Winning means they can keep dreaming of the quarterfinals, losing probably means the end of that ambition. Best impression so far of United States, Brazil and China.

Good results from the Dutch rowers. But only the two skiffeurs have a real chance of winning gold, in the other boats there is at most a battle for silver and bronze. I expect Romania and GB at the top of the medal table of the 14 Olympic boat classes. Hopefully the Dutch female rowers from the W2- and W2+ will soon return in fours so that they can compete for gold in that boat.

I don't understand that website. Is it the intention in the second sales round to take a pack (whatever that may be) in addition to your tickets? To get priority in the sales rounds, you can become a member of Le Club Paris. When I sign up for it, I don't get any confirmation. Do you? I would like to go the first days of the Games (3 days) and visit waterpolo women, hockey, some archery, swimming and of course beachvolleybal (next to the Eiffel Tower).

Ik ga naar de eerste wedstrijd van in de tweede ronde. Geen idee tegen wie ze dan spelen, maar het zal vermoedelijk of zijn. Verder ben ik ook erg benieuwd hoe de dames het gaan doen. Ik voorspel dat de wedstrijd tegen in de eerste ronde de belangrijkste is om te winnen om zo de kwartfinalekansen in leven te houden. Van gaan ze echt niet winnen, van de rest van de tegenstanders vermoedelijk met 3-0. Om de kwartfinale te halen moet dan nog afgerekend worden met Argentinië en Japan. Niet onmogelijk, maar wel pittig (Japan dan).

Ik zat er weer eens vreselijk naast. Een gouden medaille voor de estafetteploeg, vol ongeloof en met veel plezier zitten kijken. Wát een race! Om op Olympisch niveau voor een medaille te gaan, zullen de dames zich wel moeten blijven verbeteren. De top blijft toch wat smal, met alleen Bol en Klaver als echte steunpilaren. De rest van de dames blijft wisselvallig. Je zou er eigenlijk één bij moeten hebben die ook consequent in de 50 loopt, dan maak je op de OS echt kans op zilver of brons. Jammer dat de atletiekavonden bij de NOS tegenwoordig wel heel veel om Sedoc en de studio draaien. Ikzelf ben meer fan van live atletiek laten zien. Omdat Sedoc zo nodig Rivka een polsstok moest laten vasthouden, hebben we het met zeer summiere flitsen van de veldonderdelen moeten doen, terwijl het speerwerpen en polsstokhoogspringen spannend waren. Gelukkig biedt Sporza dan altijd wel soelaas.

Erg leuk voor De Munck, vaak geeft zo'n medaille weer net dat beetje extra motivatie om nóg beter te worden. En dat zal nodig zijn ook, want op mondiaal niveau moet je boven de 15 punten scoren op voltige om een beetje bovenin mee te doen. Gaaf dat er clubje jonge turners is opgestaan in Nederland en nog fijner dat ze zich voor het WK hebben geplaatst. Turnt Bart Deurloo eigenlijk nog? Of is hij gestopt met topsport?

Well, I was wondering that too. I asked a friend from the waterpolo community in the Netherlands and he told me it's way too early to say there is a really good new generation. But he also said there are more talents than in average years. So we have to wait. but there is a little hope for Dutch men's waterpolo :-).

Bol is inderdaad een fenomeen, maar wat te denken van de 19-jarige Ierse Adeleke? Een fenomeen in wording als je het mij vraagt. Zij werd 5e op de 400 meter en liep vanochtend in de series van de 4x400 meter een splittijd van 49.45. Maar goed, op dit moment is Bol by far de beste. Heel benieuwd of er morgenavond nog iets in de tank zit en ze de 4x400-estafette - samen met Lieke Klaver - naar goud kan lopen. Ik schat GB en vooral Polen toch nog steeds iets sneller in. De derde en vierde loopsters van Nederland zijn gewoon een stukje minder dan die van GB en Polen. Bij de mannen is het eigenlijk te hopen dat Tony van Diepen de finale van de 800 meter niet haalt. Dan kan hij meedoen aan de finale van de 4x400 meter en maakt Nederland best een kans.

Marrit Steenbergen zwemt de komende drie dagen nog de 200 meter wisselslag en de estafettes 4x100 mixed vrije slag en 4x100 wisselslag. Maar het lijkt me ook wel logisch als de pijp een beetje leeg begint te raken.

Congratulations to Sweden, what a phenomenal week for Henrik von Eckermann. He really deserved this title. And another suprising medal for The Netherlands. After his Olympic bronze with Beauville Z N.O.P., Michael van der Vleuten wins a bronze medal again.
