  1. I expect a lot from Yakovlev this tournament. Will be tough battle between him, Lavreysen, Richardson and maybe others, like Rudyk and the Japanese guys. I think Hoogland's time is over.
  2. Yes, bad luck Netherlands plays against UK. In my opinion together with Sweden and Spain the four best European teams right now.
  3. Good start for the Dutch men's teamsprint. But Australia has not used their best sprinter (Matthew Richardson) in the qualies. So I predict it will be close. And maybe the British men with their new bikes also play a significant role tomorrow. Another special result: Chloe Dygert is back on top in the women's individual pursuit. Curious about what she can do in the road race and especially in the time trial (she is the favorite for me).
  4. Rules are rules, but what an unprecedented amateurism of the world federation. With this they disrupt the Olympic dream of two young Dutch girls (Roeffen and Van der Winkel) who already shared on social media that they are very happy with their very unexpected Olympic qualification. Yes, they still have the chance to qualify, but you feel strongly that the Netherlands will miss the prizes here and that they will no longer come so close to Olympic qualification. A very sad day thanks to World Archery.
  5. A very exciting final, but a nice way to finish this World Championships. Very happy to see a Dutch team (other than field hockey) winning gold in a teamsport.
  6. I think Kamminga is still our biggest chance for an Olympic swimming medal. After Qin and Peaty will be a bronze medal left (would be life changing or Kamminga who is used to win silver always). I'm a big fan of Schouten, but with ridiculous Chikunova competing next year again, I fear there is only a place for her outside the podium. For Steenbergen it will be very hard as well. She still has to improve a lot to compete with Jack, O'Callaghan, Haughey and especially Sjöström next year. But today was incredibly good for the Dutch! I enjoyed every minute of it.
  7. Margot van Geffen could win her 4th consecutive medal in Paris. And yes, Marit B. is a tough one!
  8. A very realistic prediction, thanks for that! Marit Bouwmeester medals in swimming? Maybe when her boat capsizes and she quickly swims back!
  9. Totally ridiculous prediction for Netherlands again. As we see in the table of @De_Gambassi, the Netherlands is heavily overestimated again, just like in Tokyo. The Netherlands is king of sport in pre and post Olympic years. Not in Olympic years. When Gracenote is 33% off again, we will win 28 medals. Maybe 5-6 golds, when we are lucky. That's far more realistic. Teamsprint trackcycling will go to Australia. Women's time trial: Van Dijk is pregnant as hell. Open water swimming: van Rouwendaal won a lot in the past, but there are many good swimmers now (Beck, Grimes). Horsejumping ??? Sweden wins all the Championships and Nations Cups, so it's strange to predict Netherlands. Road cycling: Annemiek van Vleuten retires after this season. Bol. Where is Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone? Anyway, it's just a Gracenote prediction.
  10. What a relief made it to the final. Big achievement, exactly one year from Paris! I feel sorry for you @phelps, but don't worry, there are two (big) chances remaining, especially when Spain beats Australia.
  11. Otherwise let's do a tie! ... But only if wins the penalties
  12. Tomorrow the big clash - . Dutch teams (and especially waterpolo teams) usually lose when it comes to Olympic qualification. Hopefully tomorrow will be time for the turnaround! Followed by - . Could be a very interesting match. I eventually put my money on Spain.
  13. Wow, what a big upset by against . Congrats Italy! with an easy win against (17-10). Will be a though match in the semis, may the best team win! Now all the European top countries are cheering for against .
  14. I wish Bol had been born in a different era. Such a pity there's only silver for her behind McLaughlin-Levrone.
  15. Kamminga was overtired by covid for a year, so I have low expectations. Being in the final already is a good result for him. Maybe he can surprise and win the 925th silver medal of his career ...
  16. The first one of countless gold medals for
  17. Because Australia (reigning World Champion) has a better team now with Richardson and Glaetzer. I don't see the Dutch men win, our starter Roy van den Berg has had injuries all year and our third man Jeffrey Hoogland never reached his level of 2020-2021 after he took a break after the Olympics. Hopefully Harrie Lavreysen will be in good shape again, so he can battle it out with Jakovlev and Richardson in the individual sprint.
  18. Well, a year later my predictions for the 5 biggest chances for a gold are: 1. Rowing women single sculls: Karolien Florijn 2. Hockey: women's team 3. Mountainbike women: Puck Pieterse 4. Sailing 49er FX: Odile van Aanholt en Annette Duetz 5. 10k women: Sifan Hassan In compare to my previous list no more Tes Schouten. Although she is ranked 4th in the world, Chikunova will win this event for sure. Also no men's hockey team; I expect , and stronger at the moment.
  19. in the final means two out of will miss the Games. That's even a bigger mess ... I don't see upset . Well, when doesn't qualify, it's their own 'fault'. Losing against Spain was enough for a realistic Olympic chance.
  20. I read something about a new format at the World Champs 2024 (Doha, Qatar). The same format used in this year's World Cup? I'm very curious how that affects Olympic qualification. Today's result in the match between and surprised me. How on earth it is possible for Japan to score 21 goals against Hungary? For coming Thursday the only interesting match is vs . I think the Greek team will win.
  21. Indeed, the real winner of this WCh is the team that finishes 9th. Does not feel good at all! When everything goes normal, you picked the right teams for the OQT. But honestly, I finally expect a good tournament from Hungary. They are good enough to beat Montenegro. So I predict a top 8 for them. For The Netherlands a pretty good draw. But the quarterfinals will be very very very hard against Norway or France.
  22. I should have put Canada in the list of the strong countries. This was a typo on my part, my apologies.
  23. The most important thing for the European countries is that Australia does not reach the final of the World Cup. Otherwise there is one less ticket for Europe, because New Zealand takes Oceania's quota spot. In that case you get an Olympic tournament with weak countries New Zealand, South Africa, France, China, Canada and 5 strong countries.
