  1. That's impossible! I have to watch field hockey and sailing this afternoon, but I must see athletics as well ...
  2. Despite the weather I wish you a lot of fun at the World Championships. The sun will come.
  3. Well, in the end a 3-0 victory for against . But with this terrible level we can say goodbye to a place in the final four.
  4. Normally should win this group, but they are playing awful volleyball against Spain. A narrow escape in the first (25-23) and far behind in the second. So many mistakes. Very poor level.
  5. An hour ago racing is resumed. 49er skiff and ILCA6.
  6. My prediction is: not at all. No wind in Scheveningen at the moment (I live nearby).
  7. Annette Duetz's knee injury comes at a very unfortunate time indeed. But to be honest: the Swedish boat of Bobeck/Netzler is very impressive this tournament. At the men's side Lambriex/Van der Werken still have the lead.
  8. Don't think so. The course for the Paris time trial is flat. So Dygert is the big big favourite, and so are Reusser, Van Dijk and Brown. It's not the right course for Vollering. She will focus on the road race.
  9. Nice we have two women qualified for next year's Olympics. Hopefully Ellen van Dijk is back in form then, so we can come back at the podium. Dygert and Brown in their own league today. Promises a lot for them next year.
  10. Not having a team pursuit is because of the rigid attitude of the teams of Hengeveld and De Zoete. They wanted to show their commitment to the pursuit with Van der Duin and Raaijmakers, but their employer of road racing didn't want that. So definitely no team pursuit for The Netherlands. That's not nice, because now Van der Duin has to ride the madison with Raaijmakers, who doesn't impress at all. For sprinting you're right. There is quite a number better sprinters (the Germans, British, French and Canadian and Andrews), but still we expected a lot more from our riders. And yes, keirin is unpredictable, but the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 champions were Dutch and especially Van der Wouw has the idea that she can continue that winning streak. She told so before this Championships, so I expected something more than this. But hey, this was an amazing night for our endurance team. Never thought a gold was an option for Havik and Van Schip. So incredibly happy for those two, especially for Van Schip, who had serious struggles (kind of depression) for quite a while. It's a bummer for Vincent Hoppezak. He finished 5th at the omnium, but Netherlands only can enter two riders for the madison and omnium combined in the Olympics. And of course they don't leave the world champions madison at home.
  11. Yes, Hoogland in the men's sprint, Van der Duin with a crash in the madison and will not compete in the omnium, Van der Peet (last year medal in keirin) and Van der Wouw a little disappointing (we expected a lot more from this 'new' generation) and last but not least a terrible tournament for Olympic champion keirin Shanne Braspenninckx. Büchli had two stupid falls in the elemination and finished still 4th. Hoogland was good today, but he misses speed this tournament. All by all a little disappointing tournament for The Netherlands. Except for Lavreysen ofcourse.
  12. Lavreysen once again proves to be the best track sprinter at the moment. A great achievement from someone who is undervalued in the Netherlands. While he is really a super nice and approachable boy. Hopefully he will one day receive the right appreciation in the Netherlands. Except for Lavreysen, the Dutch team is having a bad tournament with a handful of fourth and fifth places.
  13. I never expected to see a Dutch men's cycling world champion in my lifetime. Today is the day! A truly historic sporting moment for the Netherlands. MATHIEU VAN DER POEL!!!
  14. Luini and De Groot are an occasional couple this week. It is a mess within Dutch beachvolleyball right now. Boersmans (Boermans/de Groot) has a serious injury, Van de Velde doesn't wanna play anymore with Varenhorst. So Varenhorst decided to play with Luini, but Varenhorst has a back injury. Van de Velde decided to play with Immers, but last week he played the national championships with Van der Loo, while Immers played with De Groot. Every week every player has a new partner. Not really useful in view of Olympic qualification.
  15. Really good qualification for Lavreysen, but what happened with Hoogland? Okay, I already knew he was not in his best form, but a 19th place is less good than expected. Van Loon only 31st. Looks like a quarterfinal between Lavreysen and Richardson/Yakovlev
  16. What a nail biter of a final. Just like yesterday with GB in the women's final (against Germany), I expect the Australians to have more potential to progress to gold. But at least this world title in Glasgow is in the bag for the Dutch bullet train. Fun fact: Netherlands with the same time as last year (41.64).
  17. This was the most likely scenario, but no less sad. Netherlands in 4th place. And they probably won't qualify for the Olympics anymore, because there are so many other, better countries. The Dutch archers rose above themselves on Tuesday, but are still empty-handed. Very sad that WA made such a mistake in communication, but the rules are rules, that's how it is. Hopefully we can qualify one archer at the men's side on Sunday!
  18. I expect a lot from Yakovlev this tournament. Will be tough battle between him, Lavreysen, Richardson and maybe others, like Rudyk and the Japanese guys. I think Hoogland's time is over.
  19. Yes, bad luck Netherlands plays against UK. In my opinion together with Sweden and Spain the four best European teams right now.
  20. Good start for the Dutch men's teamsprint. But Australia has not used their best sprinter (Matthew Richardson) in the qualies. So I predict it will be close. And maybe the British men with their new bikes also play a significant role tomorrow. Another special result: Chloe Dygert is back on top in the women's individual pursuit. Curious about what she can do in the road race and especially in the time trial (she is the favorite for me).
  21. Rules are rules, but what an unprecedented amateurism of the world federation. With this they disrupt the Olympic dream of two young Dutch girls (Roeffen and Van der Winkel) who already shared on social media that they are very happy with their very unexpected Olympic qualification. Yes, they still have the chance to qualify, but you feel strongly that the Netherlands will miss the prizes here and that they will no longer come so close to Olympic qualification. A very sad day thanks to World Archery.
  22. A very exciting final, but a nice way to finish this World Championships. Very happy to see a Dutch team (other than field hockey) winning gold in a teamsport.
  23. I think Kamminga is still our biggest chance for an Olympic swimming medal. After Qin and Peaty will be a bronze medal left (would be life changing or Kamminga who is used to win silver always). I'm a big fan of Schouten, but with ridiculous Chikunova competing next year again, I fear there is only a place for her outside the podium. For Steenbergen it will be very hard as well. She still has to improve a lot to compete with Jack, O'Callaghan, Haughey and especially Sjöström next year. But today was incredibly good for the Dutch! I enjoyed every minute of it.
  24. Margot van Geffen could win her 4th consecutive medal in Paris. And yes, Marit B. is a tough one!
