  1. Well, my prediction is and will fight for the very important second place in the group after France. That normally means a clash with a Scandinavian country in the quarterfinals (most likely or ). In that perspective this isn't the best draw for us. But otherwise: there are no weak opponents in the quarters of an Olympic Games. Group A seems a bit stronger with the three Scandinavian powerhouses. Don't know what to say about . They played a very good OQT, but we destroyed them at the last Worlds. There's a good chance for them to reach the quarterfinals ( and are weaker). I really looking forward to the handball tournament in Paris/Lille. Only 100 days wait ...
  2. Pot 1: Pot 2: Pot 3: Pot 4: Pot 5: Pot 6: What a weird pots ... why Norway and France not in the same pot? Clearly the two best teams in the world.
  3. Netherlands was the best country at last year's world championships. From what I've seen today, I predict GB will win the most gold medals in this year's Olympics. Some of the Dutch boats didn't convince at all (especially the women's four and women's quadruple). For the men's double sculls and men's quadruple there was a win, but not as convincing as last year (very small margins). Karolien Florijn on the other hand showed a very good shape! Europeans in two weeks, I'm looking forward to it.
  4. A good performance of the Dutch teamsprint. Unfortunately I don't see 'the old' Van den Berg improving towards the Games, so the start remains the weak spot of the team compared to Australia. But all by all 41.86 is a good time, but for gold in Paris it has to go a few tenths faster.
  5. Meeting in Eindhoven 100 butterfly: Tessa Giele 57,34 Didn't see this one coming. But very nice, as well for the 4x100 medley relay.
  6. Very happy with the qualification. It's our fourth team to qualify after both field hockeyteams and our waterpolo women. Hopefully we have a nice draw and can sneak into the semis of the handball tournament (but that will be very hard with teams like Denmark, Norway and France).
  7. I watched the first half of our women, but what a shame. After 15 minuten our goalkeeper had a 0% rate in succesfull stops. From defence to attack ... it was a really bad first half. I expect we will win eventually, but Czech Republic and Spain will have chances against this Dutch team.
  8. The 4th leg for Ertzgaard. Maybe not the best runner, but if the other three are real good, it doesn't have to matter. I'm really curious which athletes the Dutch team send to the World Relays. They have to send both Bol and Klaver to ensure the women's en mixed 4x4.
  9. Norway in the 4x400 mixed will be a dark horse for the medals in Paris.
  10. My prediction: OQT1 and OQT2 and OQT3 and
  11. Do we already know if the Russian and Belarussian swimmers will take part in the Olympics? And if so, which ones? More specific Kolesnikov, Rilov and Chikunova.
  12. Hopefully Lavreysen will recover soon, maybe he will participate in the keirin this weekend. Good win for Australia. Way better than the other teams. I think in normal circumstances the Dutch team could have ride a 42.27. Not easily, but possible. So we have a very exciting Olympic Games in teamsprint to come.
  13. Aha, food poisoning for Lavreysen. Yesterday was his birthday ...
  14. According to the start list, Lavreysen was on the team. On the detailed result page it turns out Lavreysen was replaced by Kool. But still a bummer for the Dutch team. Even with Kool in the team, they really could have finish a 0.75 faster at least. According to Dutch media the last days the Dutch team really wanted to show Asutralia that they are still the number one. Therefore I don't understand that Lavreysen was replaced just before the start. Well, let's see how fast the Australians can go. I predict 41.5/41.6 or so.
  15. Well, I expected a defeat for the Dutch sprinters, but not that gap to Australia and a 9th place. Even no qualification for the second round. Lavreysen slower than Richardson and Hoogland way slower than Glaetzer.
  16. Hopefully the Dutch bullet train will continue their winning streak in the men's teamsprint. But I'm afraid that Australia has now really become better than The Netherlands. The winner of this World Cup has a big mental advantage towards Paris.
  17. Does anyone know where you can find an overview of the extensive Olympic rankings? And where you can see how a team's points total is structured. You could follow this at other Olympic Games via various sites, but this year I can't find anything about it. Good job from Boermans and De Groot. In beachvolleyball they are the biggest medal hope for The Netherlands in Paris. If they make Paris, they only played 8 tournaments and Boermans is injured every now and then.
  18. Disappointment for Jessica Schilder. Last week she threw 20.31 WL/SB, today 5 of her 6 attempts landed outside the section.
  19. Dutch men's teamsprint track cycling definitely not a lock in. What about the strong team of Australia? In the individual sprint I see two favorites: Matthew Richardson and Harrie Lavreysen.
  20. What about reigning Olympic champion Nina Derwael? She will qualify for the Games through the World Cups and will be a gold medal contender for me as well.
  21. Well, I was really surprised how weak the Dutch were yesterday. Ofcourse, Spain is by far the best team in the world right now, but the level of our team was really shocking, especially from some elder players like Lieke Martens. I didn't see the match between France and Germany, so no idea of the level of Germany, but when the Dutch don't raise their level, I think Germany will win this.
  22. WORLD RECORD again for Femke Bol - 49.24 Lieke Klaver (50.10) and Cathelijn Peeters (52.08) with very good times as well. We are searching a fourth athlete to complete our relayteam.
  23. qualified a men's 4x100 medley relayteam in today's prelims. Last time we entered this event at the Games was London 2012. Now finally we have a decent backstroke swimmer, Kai van Westering. Together with Caspar Corbeau/Arno Kamminga (breast), Nyls Korstanje (fly) and Stan Pijnenburg (free) a very nice team.
  24. Very unhappy with this draw. is assured of a very though quarterfinal. Group B is so much stronger
  25. Or if the Dutch national team has a good coach. In the women's teamsprint competition The Netherlands' performance was really bad due to a mistake by our coach. The Dutch men on the other hand performed well. Congrats to Canada to win the men's teamsprint as well by 0.002
