  1. Another shocking result: among the men, the group win in four of the six groups was determined by a withdrawal, all on the same day. That rarely happens. Herrara/Gavira , Evans/Budinger , Perusic/Schweiner and Hodges/Schubert all suddenly injured?
  2. A guaranteed quarterfinal place for , because they play against Kenia. Don't like the fact France is seeded 1st.
  3. Oh no, what happened? I was wondering when he returned at the highest level, but still injured?
  4. Interesting situation in Dutch beachvolleyball. Three teams still compete for two Olympic spots. Our best team Boermans/de Groot are struggling the last tournaments. Our eldest team Brouwer/Meeuwsen didn't play on their usual high level this year. Immers/van de Velde is our youngest team, but the last weeks they reach a very good level. After Espinho: Immers/van de Velde - 8880 points (lowest result 460 points) Brouwer/Meeuwsen - 8600 points (lowest result 600 points) Boermans/de Groot - 8460 points (after 11 results - with their entrance in the last Elite 16 in Ostrava, they will end with at least 8920 points). With only Stare Jablonski and Ostrava to go still a beautiful battle to watch.
  5. Raupelyte and Paulikiene qualified for the main draw in Espinho!
  6. I think the bracket will be like this (but especially in the -90 kg there are a lot of contenders outside the top 8 who can make the quarter finals): Bekauri Silva Morales Sherov Bobonov Murao Zgank Parlati Majdov
  7. Only the 6 best results count. Wagner already had 6 results in the last 12 months. Her weakest result (500 points) will removed.
  8. I think Bellandi is number 1 on the Olympic ranking (she earns 1400 points today, Wagner 2000-500). She will be in the pool with number 8 Litvynenko (Ukraïne). Semis against Ma (China,4) and Malongo (Fra,5). Pretty good chances she will be in the final. My calculations - quarter finals when all seeded judoka's reach the quarterfinal: Bellandi Litvynenko Ma Malonga Lanir Steenhuis Takayama Wagner
  9. Fortunately it was in the third round, so Van 't End just got enough points to go to the Games.
  10. Noël van 't End lost against this guy, because he used a forbidden technique (according to the referee). But the referee only thought that because the "Lebanese" shouted so loudly, while nothing was wrong with Van 't End's technique. Why would he use such technique if he leads with wazari? It was clearly an act of the "Lebanese" and a wrong decision by the referee. Especially when he said to Van 't End: "You win ". So hopefully he loses his 3rd place fight.
  11. Unfortunately, Van Lieshout (WRL1) comes at the Games in the same quarter as Japan's Takaichi (WRL8). An unfortunate side effect of her fantastic world title.
  12. I enjoyed the judo competition today very much. Especially Joanne van Lieshout, but also the Polish girl Szymanska ... wow!! What a beautiful techniques she used. Tito Grigalashvili is always nice to watch, a well deserved third world title for him.
  13. Sven Roosen - Decathlon - 8.519 points What a surprise we have a decathlete in Paris
  14. And as an extra reward your team plays against Netherlands today, so the third place on the world ranking is up for grabs.
  15. That means another silver medal for the Dutch team!
  16. @JoshCongrats!! Canada is almost qualified. Big important win for you. I watched - yesterday and can confirm Netherlands won't be able to beat you, or Dominican Republic or Poland or another top country. No outstanding players. And our best player, Nika Daalderop, isn't even playing this week. I assume Brenda is playing the next weeks, that's another bad news for us.
  17. @MHSNAny chance for Marcel Sterkenburg (-87) and Tyrone Sterkenburg (-97)?
  18. Dutch men 4x100 also have a 38.30. Tied with .
  19. Maybe Brouwer and Meeuwsen will enter this competition as well. Wouldn't be surprised. I hope the two new teams qualify, Brouwer and Meeuwsen have meant a lot to beach volleyball in the Netherlands, but I wish their young successors a ticket for the Olympic Games. But hey! What an unprecedented luxury for Dutch beach volleyball: three teams that are good enough.
  20. Very interesting situation in men's beachvolleyball qualification for the teams. After the World Tour Brasilia: Brouwer/Meeuwsen 8.600 (after 12 results) Immers/van de Velde 8.380 or 8.480 (depends on the outcome of the final) (after 12 results) Boermans/de Groot 8.000 (after 10 results) Only two tournaments to go in Espinho and Ostrava. Two lowest results for Brouwer/Meeuwsen - 600 en 600. Two lowest results for Immers/van de Velde - 460 en 400.
  21. I'm a big fan of Eurovision. But I hate the Dutch entry this year. My personale favorites are and
  22. Really? Don't remember that title at all. But the Dutch team has a problem. They need to win against Hungary, Italy and Israel in group D at the OKT3, otherwise B1 (Canada for sure) waits in the quarterfinal.
  23. Very happy with this (kind of) unexpected quota. Nice to integrate some 3x3 matches in my Paris viewing schedule
  24. No, they didn't. All 4 good athletes at the men's side (Bonevacia, Omalla, Agard and Angela) are needed in the 4x400 men. So they'll run with Boers and Klein Ikkink in the mixed relay. Boers with a SB of 47.24 is simply not good enough. That means they won't win the world title (I bet ).
