To be fair it has been the British B team all weekend. With the exception of Yee and Potter, none of our podium potential athletes have made the trip. Can't think of many other sports where so many of our top athletes would choose to sit out a world championship. Particularly disappointing on the men's side where they need to be chasing as many points as possible to ensure that we have 3 athletes inside the top 30 to secure 3 quota places at Paris.

Yes. sorry, in-joke, it's the similarity to the Tom Daley narrative that amuses me, Jason Todd taking over from Dick Grayson...

GB's best bet would be a fit Laugher and Harding, but both are walking wounded at the minute, to the point Jack, who is basically the only realistic competition to Chinese in the 3m individual isn't even diving in that. Frankly their silver was miracle in such circumstances, and they'l feel pretty good about it. At the moment the world order, minus the Russians, seems to be China - huge gap - Great Britain - smaller but still notable gap - the rest of the major nations (CAN, USA, MEX, UKR, GER, ITA, AUS) - the third group will ridge bac up to GB a lot quicker than GB will bridge to CHN, and in Paris 24, I think the Chinese might finally do the clean sweep they've been denied the last three Olympiads, unless the Ukrainian boy wonder, or a fit Laugher stops it.

British women have never been particularly strong in diving - certainly not to the point of challenging for medals. The strength has always been on the men's side - initially on the 10m platform with the likes of Pete Waterfield and Leon Taylor and Tom Daley. In 2012, we then started to see breakthrough on the men's 3m with Chris Mears, and Jack Laugher. The women's team are looking to Andrea Spendolini Sirieix as a big hope for the future

I'll do some daily updates on which NOCs secure quotas in each event.

No reason on earth this shouldn't be an Olympic event.
Good fun, slightly different skill set (it's more 'sprinter' based), arguably more back and forth action than individual event, and if the quotas are done right, not a single extra one required.
Works as both 2 and 4 person mixed relay. Strong Triathlon mixed relay vibe to me, in that, if this was brought in, you'd quickly wonder why it wasn't there all along.
Would suggest only the inclusion in the cross country run bit of at least a wee bit of uphill and downhill not flat laps - Tokyo managed it with just a bit of scaffolding and some planks, frankly, doesn't need a major 'investment' but it nuances the event.

We already have a "results database" where we add results: https://totallympics.com/forums/forum/161-results-database/
But right now it is not very developed because of the limited resources, there is basically only one user adding results on a daily basis and we only focus on present and future results, not the past ones.
But should someone be interested to take charge of a project like that, for sure I would support it!

Wikipedia might be greatly improved if editors had some limited right to bar certain superusers from amending them - that way no one person could get all that powr, and notorious bullies could be detected.
The other answer, of course, would be to begin a proper SportsWiki of your own which had a looser rule set specifically on statbook, primary sources, crystal balling and notability

Boxing’s problem is the lack of objective scoring criteria. Fencing, taekwondo, judo, karate, etc. are all miles ahead in that space. Referees and judges can look at a situation and award points for a specific action, instead of an overall impression. While there might be debates about what should score/not score, how many points a move should be worth, etc., objective scoring systems add a lot of legitimacy and structure to bouts.

Taekwondo should really be a roadmap for other federations. They created objective scoring criteria, embraced technology, instituted a great video replay rule, became a leader in international outreach, and created highly entertaining product at end of the day. I consistently look forward to watching taekwondo at every multi-sport games.

But not as bad as Polish pop music.

It's a performance sport. If the performance of a performance sport is fundamentally unappealing to watch, it's maybe a sign it shouldn't be there.
I am VERY far from sold on breaking as a good addition to either the Olympics or Europeans...

Sorry, think I get it now - so many countries in the final 18 have double and triple entries, these spots must mathematically be a top 8 NOC in the final.

yes, you can.
and basically we have just a couple of events left this year (the World Champs in September and the 2nd Grand Prix in Doha in December) and 2 next year (Continental Champs and the World Cup, with the 2023 Worlds and the 2024 World Cup being mandatory events in terms of participation to become eligible for the Olympic Games).
