  1. In combat sports like Boxing, Wrestling there is no fair world. You give your best and hope that you are not screwed by refs/federation.
  2. Kazakhi literally ran off the mat once and still no points were given to Bajrang.
  3. Quotas in 57kg FS: Quotas in 65kg FS: Quotas in 62kg WW: Quotas in 68kg WW:
  4. And Bajrang makes it 2/2 for India. We have 2 semifinalists today.
  5. Ravi has won the quota and qualified for the semifinal defeating European champion Harutyunyan and ex-World Champion Takahashi
  6. Damn you IJF. Forcing poor Algerians into World events.
  7. Looking forward to seeing @MHSN‘s reaction on final quarter of 65kg.
  8. As I had feared, Pooja's defence completely dismantled by the Russian.
  9. I don't think Pooja winning gold is a given. She is amazing in attack but her defence is too suspect. (A bit like the young Bajrang). She can defeat any opponent and lose to any. So, even with Pooja instead of Sarita in 57kg, with the kind of draw (Nichita, Bullen and Kawai in the same quarter), there wouldn't have been much difference. For today's quotas, Kiran still has a very small chance. Rotter Focken is through to semis but Gray is an amazing wrestler and if Focken can upset her, Kiran will get a chance in repechage.
  10. And the carnage continues. Saina Nehwal and Shi Yuqi also lose in Rd1.
  11. And 1/2 it is. Vinesh gets the quota while Seema goes down to Russia.
  12. UKR, USA and RUS are all good wrestlers but I think both are doable. I will be satisfied with 1/2.
  13. Top 6 wrestlers get the quota. So, 4 semifinalists plus 2 more wrestlers qualified for the Bronze medal matches win the quota. Vinesh has to defeat UKR and USA to get the quota. Seema has to defeat NGR and RUS to get the quota
  14. Don't wanna argue with you, but Vinesh did defeat Sun and Yuki Irie easily at last Asian Games. So, she would definitely be a medal contender if she sticked to 50kg. Even in 53kg she swept past current Olympic bronze medallist in the first round and will win the quota tomorrow (most likely Bronze as well).
  15. At present, only one Egyptian male lifter has participated in a period 2 event: Ali Ahmed Sayed Ashour in IWF Junior World Championships. In the female side, also only has participated in a period 2 event: Mahmoud Rania Mohamed Ezzat in IWF Junior World Championships.
  16. BTW, is it the first time that host nation is itself not participating in a World Championship?
  17. As expected, Vinesh and Seema lost to Mariya and Mukaida. Both still has good chances of going to repechage and winning quota there. Even if we fail to win quota here, China and Japan winning quotas is good for us as it will make our job easier at Asian qualifiers. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy you beast. Yet another top 10 scalp for him. This time in XD alongside Ashwini Ponappa: Indonesian pair of Jordan/Oktavianti (WR7).
  18. Carolina Marin is back. She has defeated Nozomi Okuhara in just her second tournament back from injury. On first day of China Open, we already have a number of top players out. Okuhara, Yamaguchi, Axelsen, Jordan/Oktavianti And we still have Lin Dan vs Kento Momota to come. Plus Sindhu vs Li Xuerui tomorrow.
  19. Vinesh had to go to 53kg because she was having difficulty in making the weight cut at 50kg. If you remember even in Rio Qualification, she missed World Qualifier 1 due to the same issue.
  20. No. Athletes who have have already qualified quota cannot participate in other qualifying tournaments. From official document :
  21. Hopefully, Mariya Stadnika and Mayu Mukaida will win their semi-finals to bring Seema and Vinesh in repechage.
  22. NOC. But in case of Japan, their federation has already declared that if someone wins a quota at WC, they will be selected for Olympics without trials.
